I would like to print off your star wars covers please. i have no idea how this works. seems overly complicated. i just printed off a bunch of other covers off of google images but yours i had to sign up for a website, then i had to download winrar, because the link a commenter used was a .rar file. turns out those weren’t even the right images. lol. they were his. do you send them to my email or what? i sure do wish there was just a link on here for them. then you wouldn’t have to deal with requests either. anyway, great job making these. my email is derekrude@hotmail.com thanks in advance.

Sometimes things take research and some work. You can figure it out! Please be patient and don’t be afraid to learn to things along the way.

If you are referring to the cover images directly above your various posts here, you can just click on them. They are hosted on imgur. Just go the source location for them on imgur and download the full size. Unfortunately imgur tends to add a lot of jpeg compression, but they should still print fine for you.

How do I get a set??

As a community, how can we address this issue of people just coming on these threads with another uninformed question such as this? They don’t even bother to do two minutes of research. Is there some better way we can educate? Obviously threads marked as “announcements” on the main forum page are ignored.

I’m getting really bothered by seeing a new post marked in a thread only to find it yet another question like “where’s the link”? It of course takes away from any real discussion about the material. Every time I get my hopes up that it’s another update on a project, or another perspective on the project, but no… just another flippant request.

Sorry, just ranting. I wish more of these folks would take some time to look around. But perhaps that’s just something old people like me do - familiarize yourself with any new group or community first before opening your big mouth. 😃

To answer your question, it used to be available by some MEGA links, but that is no longer the case.

What is your Star Wars?
Time

I saw them in the theaters when I was young, so my Star Wars is the original trilogy as it appeared in the theaters. Later on the versions I would watch all the time were the Widescreen Collector’s Edition VHS release. Wore those tapes out. Now of course I’m obsessed with 35mm preservation projects to get Star Wars as close to the original as possible, while presenting amazing detail we come to demand on blu-ray and the like.

However, I NEVER come across anybody who knows what I’m talking about when I bring up the OUT/SE issue. And even after explaining my stance most don’t seem to care AT ALL. At most they find it interesting that I’m so passionate about this subject. Usually they just find my stance on it “eccentric” like the rest of my interests.

This. This is exactly my experience. Even when talking with supposed “huge” fans of Star Wars, it’s like they don’t even care that it’s a big deal to be able to see the original. I always get the “oh, that’s nice” condescending response when I talk about the projects to restore the original from 35mm.

I had a co-worker label me a “Star Wars fundamentalist”. I can’t disagree… 😃

another fan here looking to watch the full 1080p SSE 1.6. I have all the capabilities to burn the full res Blu-Ray, just don’t have a link to download it. Can anyone help me or give me some pointers? I would really appreciate it!

Do some research. There are a myriad of threads here with everything you need to learn. Obviously we can’t just post links to it. Good luck.

How Does Princess Leia Remember Her Mother in Return of the Jedi?
Time

how can Leia, as an adult woman in ROTJ, remember her mother if she was a baby when she died?

Blame it on George’s shit writing. And also the whole production team that never once tried to push back or dare question him about his shit writing.

Your best course of action is to pretend the prequels never happened. It honestly makes the Star Wars universe so much more enjoyable.

Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)

It’s crazy how just in the last year I’ve seen it go from people online saying “just download the despecialized editions” to now seeing “just buy the despecialized editions on eBay”. The vast majority of people seeking this out now think that eBay is where u go to get them.

I don’t want to excuse ANYTHING, but think about it from the perspective of one who just hears about this and googles for it. They come here and are made fun of for asking how to download it, made fun of for asking for a spleen invite, and basically told to go away. Then they find it on eBay and can simply pay with PayPal. People lack all reading comprehension, and researching here how to actually get it is “too hard” for the immediate gratification generation.

It sucks, but I get it.

The 1977 bootleg features the mono soundtrack as Beru’s dialogue is different for the Lars dinner scene:

I wonder why they dubbed her voice…I find no reason for it, but evidently George did.

The on set dialogue recording was probably not good. Happens even in films today, though it tends to be a little more seamless now.

Sort of off topic, but there are parts of ROJ where the ADR really bothers me. Most are with Leia’s lines.

Star Wars Despecialized Editions - Custom Bluray Set (Released)
Time

I went the DIY route and am very happy for it. But many of the stock I got in bulk (50 BD discs, 30 Criterion cases, etc). So my up-front costs were high even though per disc it would be cheap.

In order to move some of my extra material, in celebration of the 40th anniversary tomorrow, my desk in my office may just accidentally have 10 backup copies of the Despecialized Star Wars Blu-ray Disc. If those copies were lost to unknown places as co-workers happen to walk by, well then that’s just a damned shame 😃.

4K restoration on Star Wars
Time

I personally do NOT want the ultimate box set that happens to include the OOT. I want a one-disc Criterion-style release that has been given the care and attention it deserves. Call it the “Legacy Edition” (borrowing from Mike Verta) and just make it a one-off thing. IMHO this will let Disney consider it just a branch off their normal blu-ray releases of the saga and it won’t muddy the waters with the SE crap.

This is why I can’t stand the Star Wars reddit. It’s full of PT and SE worshippers who won’t stop posting about their tattoos and stick figure families. I see tons of people on there saying “most of the changes were great, just get rid of Greedo shooting and it will be perfect.”

The prequel worship there makes me sick. It’s a wretched hive of scum and villainy.

Old-school OOT fans have zero place on /r/starwars. Just try to post anything remotely pro-OOT and you’ll receive the flood of down votes. You don’t even have to be anti-prequel - just pro-OOT. I swear everyone there is a 13-year-old Jar Jar fan.

I’m turning increasingly pessimistic about all of this. It’s the right thing to do, and would make me happy, therefore it will never happen.

😕

I will always have Harmy and the 35mm scans. And so even if they release a 4K SE, at least then the source material for a new Despecialized set will be better.

What I really want is Mike Verta to release his stuff. The vimeo movies of his work in progressing were jaw-dropping.
