With fans like your dumbass, as well as the dumbasses on this board, who the hell can blame him. This board alone shows how pathetic Star Wars fans has become, and how low it's sunk.

he continues to deny his fans

What fans? None of you on this board are fans of George Lucas. Why should George Lucas give a damn about a bunch of dipshits who wish him dead over simple movies, who call him names at every turn. If I was Lucas, I'd look you in your eye and tell you that not only will you not get the originals, you won't get anymore Star Wars period.

that we, the fans, made him who he is with our money

Please do me a favor and shut up. Neither you nor any of the fans made Lucas. He made himself by starting with nothing and created an iconic series of films. Did any of the fans have a hand in creating Star Wars? Did the fans create any of the characters, worlds, or anything in Star Wars? Did the fans send Lucas money to make Star Wars? Did fans stay up and worry with Lucas during the making of these films? Did fans visit Lucas in the hospital when Star Wars put him there? Did fans help direct or produce the films? The answer to those questions is a big fat NO!

Fans contributed absolutely nothing when he was creating these films. All they did was consume. They spent money of their own free will. If Lucas had created a series of horrible films, there wouldn't be Star Wars fans today. The fact is if it wasn't for Lucas, none of you wouldn't even be here right now. This board wouldn't exist. Fans didn't make shit.

Lucas owes you nothing. What makes Star Wars fans more pathetic than any other film fanbase is this sense of entitlement they think they should have. You own nothing. You deserve nothing.

Wow , are you his biographer? or a relative? you seem a little angry, the way I see it people are voicing their discord with lucas's decision for not releasing the OT, granted personal attacks are not really a good way to articulate a point of view, but then who is calling who 'dipshits'.

This whole board is about the Original Trilogy, the one thats been available for the last 26 years or so, the one that I watched in the cinema in the late seventies.Call me nostalgic but I like that version I grew up with, the thing that baffles me is the refusal to include it on a dvd release, so many other films have Directors cuts and SE versions, for the 2004 version to be changed a new transfer sans CGI would have to have been done so why not bung it on there and make a old man happy.

Is this set up any good?
Time
If you want to watch NTSC then a dedicated NTSC only player like the Elite will be the choice, cld 925 like the cld 2950 are the top pal/ntsc players, if you are UK based or in a pal region and want the best pal set then one of the aforementioned combi players would be good with this set La Trilogie THX PAL with english soundtrack but french subs.

Forget to mention I have the cld2950 and I think mother has the cld 925, I find the picture to be pretty good but thats only on a 28' Sony Widescreen

Hope that helps

A message to Jay in regards to DanielB
Time
Its a tricky situation we now face, this is probably the only board I visit that isn't modded, I remember the posts between Jimbo and luke that at first seemed quite amusing but after awhile started to grate and ended up in exile for Jimbo.

I take no objection to anyone having their say thats the defining aspect I suppose of the web medium *freedom of communication* but I personally don't tend to comment or advise on matters that I have little or no experience in, which is why I find Daniel B's interjections sometimes misplaced.

I mean no disrespect by this Daniel B but I like many others here have undertaken this project to try and preserve this 'holy trilogy' and until I had actually got off my arse and started spending time and money I had know idea what was involved but it did come as quite a shock.

My bedroom is now like a shrine to all things analogue, I have LD players, Hardware Video processors, countless discs and cables running everywhere my bank balance has taken a major hit, my social life dwindled and my GF is now getting very pissed off when I mention Star Wars in any which way shape or form.

I'm not trying to rant here but just trying to be honest and illustrate to other members my own personal experience, I have enjoyed and hated it but when I felt like giving up a visit to these boards and chatting to others with the same crazy misplaced passion I have gave me a boost and enabled me to get back in the saddle.

When things like this happen we tend to lose sight of the main objective, and that is in my case to have a nice 4:3 letterboxed PAL transfer of my discs that I'm happy with and to share the fruits of my labour if anyone cared.

So enjoy that cruise LM you lucky bugger!

Yes I am jealous it is cold and raining here in the UK as usual

Comic book movies - who says yes and who says no?
Time

I really enjoyed the Dark empire comic books and would love to see them as a movie * without any farting/stupid jar jar binks aliens/droids*

I thought Hellboy and the Punisher were both entertaining, I still haven't seen X men 2 yet but am hoping the new FF movie will be good, also wishing for a decent silver surfer flick sometime in the near future...

This might of been mentioned before but a set a la LOTR would have been perfect IMHO, maybe even a collectors edition with scaled model sabres or other props.

Although i'm no fan of the PT at least the artworks better, I worked in the design industry for some years and I would be embarassed to admit thats my artwork on those covers, must of been an early deadline.

I am still holding out hope that the PAL discs will give us something even better, there is definately more detail, better colour and no 3:2 pulldown issues to deal with. Getting it back to 24fps is absolutely no problem. The real task is finding a working PAL laserdisc player of the X0 calibre....

AFAIK there was never a PAL player of that calibre. The top 2 PAL machines are the 2950 and the D925. Not much to choose between them, but I have heard the 2950 has a less noisy picture.

There are issues I've found with my 1995 French PAL discs - the image is cropped more than the NTSC versions, and there are small portions missing at the end of some sides. I don't know if the German or Spanish sets have the same problems.

The 1989 French releases were apparently poor quality pressings.

I think the nearest us PAL people got to a higher spec LD player was maybe a custom jobbie from The Theta corp either a data 3 or voyager which used the OEM internals from the pioneer players but then added custom vid processing stuff this made them have a supposedly better output then the standard pioneers AFAIK but they also cost a bomb £5,000 - 6,000 pic here

Voyager info here I haven't seen a PAL 2nd hand one for sale yet
