Am I the only one who would have been happy with Ady's excellent color correction and fixing the top 10 most obvious errors?

Clearly the finished edition will be a work of art and it is already very impressive, but looking at the previous "flap" sample I wonder if this isn't too much effort and too high a cost for such "little" effect.

As a programmer I can easily relate how, when you have a project, you find more and more things to fix and more and more detail to add. But there comes the point when you just have to say "that's it" and find a reasonable balance.

Especially when you are working alone on that kind of project. Adywan is getting outpaced by technology. This thing started with DVD format and by now we have seen the introduction of 720, 1080, 3D and now 4k. Don't get me wrong, I'm still find with a good DVD quality movie on our 46" and will be grateful for whatever Adywan is going to release whenever he sees fit. All I'm saying there is merit in having a schedule that doesn't span a decade.

Concerning stuff like the flaps, I think what we have to bear in mind is that, from Ady's point of view, he's trying to finish them in such a way that he never has to come back to them. He's already fallen into that trap with ANH:R. So while it might seem like overkill, he's probably just ensuring his work stands the test of time.

The technology stuff isn't really a factor, as it's a battle without an end when you think about it.

^^ Same here. I recall it was mentioned that ROTJR will be altered more than ANHR & ESBR. So I'm VERY curious about Ady's plans for the Jabba sequence and cannot wait for the eventual thread where we can all discuss it and offer ideas.

Please Please PLEASE let something be done about the Ewoks!! Suspension of disbelief can only go so far, and teddy bears defeating professional soldiers in armor always kicked me right out of the movie.

Hopefully we'll get a sneak peek at the hanger shots as they come together... Can't wait to see what's changed.

Not that I expect Ady to manage anything on this level, but I always thought it'd be more elegant if the entire forest was fighting the Empire having been disturbed by the battle eg. Stormtroopers chase Ewoks into a clearing, who disappear into the bushes, then a giant plant monster grabs and eats the Stormtroopers. You could even use CG to have monsters/living vines pulling DOWN the AT-ST instead of the daft tripping on logs bit that happens in the original.

The forest, apart from the noises, always did seem a bit devoid of life.

Basically, the ending from Avatar, Ewok Edition.

I'd be happy with just some Rebel troops added into the battle, with the Ewoks downplayed, and add in some of the deleted footage of Han Solo's team fighting their way into the base to set the explosives.

Back on topic: Has Ady or anyone else put together a blu ray cover yet? I'm pumped to get it ready for ESB:R's release!

In my defence, I'd given this some thought long before Avatar ever showed up (happy days on the TheForce.net just after the release of TPM), but I'd swear I'd got the idea from an early concept for ROTJ. I could be way off base and imagined that last bit, though. I think it seems a pretty natural fit: The Ewoks are diminutive and primitive. Their only advantage is numbers, so unless we're going to get swarms of them World War Z style, I think having their knowledge of the forest play a part makes sense. I'm not talking about Avatar's autoimmune system-like eco-system, more the Ewoks leading the Imperials into dangerous situations with local fauna and flora.

@monroville the radio chatter which does occur is another cock up...

I pointed it out earlier....

Luke to wedge " i lost my rear gunner you'll have to take the shot"

Radio chatter luke to wedge in wedge cockpit " i'll cover you"

Luke "set your harpoon and follow me on the next pass"

How will luke cover wedge if wedge is following and he has lost rear gunner?

If luke said i'll follow you it would make sense...

Also bear in mind this is the cockpit shot where it looks as if the snowspeeder will hit a rebel running away from smoke...

Basically i called for a cut or alternate exterior shot on this but to remove i'll cover you line as then the dialogue also makes sense... Luke says i'll cover you again moments later so another good reason for the chop i felt

The rear 'gunner' is the one that fires the tow cable harpoon gun. Luke is saying he's going to cover Wedge (with his speeder's forward facing lasers that he can fire), while Wedge concentrates on tripping the ATAT. It makes perfect sense.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION
Time

Initially, when I first watched this, I preferred it over all to the originals but didn't approve of the extra music queues. However, having watched it again yesterday I've started to actually prefer it with them, although I still don't like the new way Vader and Obi-wan ignite their sabres (Vader's should always be pre-lit in that scene), I actually like the additional music.

I think the only thing I think could've been better is the Torture droid 'electric needle'. Electrifying it doesn't seem needed. A syringe in a prison torture scenario is pretty much scary enough.

I'm hoping that when Ady goes over it for the HD version, the music will still be there as a choice at least, or I may have to stick with his DVD-9 version.

I'm not sure if there was any traditional stop motion in ROTJ (maybe the AT-AT on Endor wasn't go-motion and probably the motion of the scout walker tripping on the logs they look kind of juddery...EXPERT!...SAY EXPERT?).

The AT-STs were definitely Stop-motion in shots.

Anakin NEVER referred to as Vader and Vader will be the one storming the Jedi Temple, not Anakin ( and no youngling slaughter either). If things plan out how i envision then you won't know that Anakin and Vader are one and the same until ESB

Anakin's turn to the dark side will not have anything to do with the thought of Padme dying in childbirth. It will be switched back to the original storyline that George even started filming, that it will be a seduction of power.

Sounds good, although I do wonder how you're going to accomplish this without Vader just turning up seemingly out of nowhere, and how you're going to manage the Obi-Wan vs Anakin fight. At first I thought you'd move the duel back to the end of AOTC, then have Vader present for the whole of ROTS but confused myself because I couldn't see how you'd still have the big opening battle in ROTS! lol

so if i kill off Boba Fett , and that there would be no way he could possibly survive, yet he turns up in the ST then how do you explain that? you can't. I'm not prepared to tie myself down to anything that may appear in the new films. Sorry, but Revisited will only be able to be watched as a 6 films saga, unless by some miracle nothing conflicts with the new films.

I think the issue people had with Boba's death is not the finality of it, but the fact that it's death by slapstick. The finality of it seemed pretty clear in the Special Edition being eaten by the Sarlaac 'beak'. It would probably seem more elegant if the shot just cut after he slides off the side of the barge and then we never saw him again (ie he could be alive), just because, as a death, it seems pretty silly to be killed by a malfunctioning jetpack hit by a blind man.

i'm sure ady knows about the scene in rotj where luke talks to leia asking her if she remembers her mom.and leia replies just images, feelings really.saying she remembers her being very beautiful but sad.there is no way leia could remember her mother.it's a shame lucas didn't have padme dying by the emperor torturing her to find out where she hid the baby.lucas should have waited also till the babies were at least 2 or 3 so what leia says makes sense.lucas obviously didn't think this through.you think someone at ilm would have said something to him about this when he was making rots.but i have a feeling he surrounds himself with yes men.

As much as I loathe the prequels, I had never had a problem with Leia's line in ROTJ and Padme dying at that point in ROTS matching up. We are talking about Force-sensitive children here, and it's perfectly possibly that Leia was more aware of something of her mother when born than Luke was. They didn't have to be on equal Force-sensitivity footing at that point. In fact, I think it makes it more interesting if you think that Leia was actually the more potentially powerful one and they picked Luke seemingly at the flip of a coin.

re: The blaster shot on the AT-AT walker.

I think the issue is, despite Luke's line being "That armor is too strong for blasters!", the visual effects are more in common with shielding than armor. This also fits with the scene where, once the AT-AT is downed, suddenly it's able to be shot to pieces by blaster fire.

It's also why the blaster shot looks like it is absorbed rather than making a scuff mark or ricocheting.

I don't think it's a mistake per se, but rather it's the sci-fi concepts being played fast and loose with, and just not thinking it matters that much whether they call it armor or shielding. There was no way to know at the time it would be held up to this kind of scrutiny.

Short of drastically altering the visuals and spoken lines from the original, I think Ady has done the next best thing, which is to leave that issue well alone.

EDIT: Just found this, which should satisfy anyone else worried about it not making sense!
