Just as a test, here’s the beginning of the sail barge sequence with flipped shots put back:
https://vimeo.com/238829311
It’s more jarring than the original, without a doubt. Although, I do like that Mark Hamill’s face is flipped back to normal now. I think that’s the main giveaway.

Can’t say I found any issue with those shots flipped back, I followed along fine with where the barge was heading and the other ships location to it.

I quite agree. The viewer can follow the action just fine, and quite frankly I’m seriously struggling to see why it was flipped in the first place, as IMHO this version is infinitely superior. The only possible quibble from pedants I can see is that when they finally arrive at the Sarlacc the skiffs are now on the barge’s left side instead of the right, but since they’re all flying vehicles with vast space around them on all sides, and we don’t witness the entire trip, surely it’s not beyond the wit of the viewer to assume the skiff moved to the other side at some point before the journey’s end? Donald Trump might struggle to understand it, but regular humans with at least double-digit IQs won’t. I didn’t watch that clip and think, ‘My God! The skiff’s teleported!’

so, you find those who will watch the movie as edited and released to be the pedants, and those who want to ‘unflip’ all shots because it is driving them crazy to not be the pedants?

As I said, I don’t care if it’s “official”. George Lucas would then have officially ruined Star Wars for me. But ever since I found edits that fix his mistakes, I don’t have to put up with him anymore. I don’t have to listen to Anakin whine nor Obi-Wan bicker; and I don’t have to endure CGI Sy Snoodles singing Jedi Rocks without watching Return of the Jedi in what amounts to 240p.

If you can do all that, does that mean I am allow pretend that in Doctor Who canon is Timelords can not change gender or race?

Didn’t you get over that a month or two ago?

But here’s the problem: generally neither you should think that, since you don’t like something, everyone should agree 100% with you and that you should dismiss the others’ opinions like they are fooling themselves.

I don’t want to get into a debate about it being objectively bad vs. subjectively bad (which has been done in this thread many times already), I’ll just leave things there.

So your opinion is objective, mine is subjective…

You are allmighty Frink.

Dude, drop it

I just cannot comprehend how someone can complain that R1 is the video game movie of the group and also claim to have watched both AOTC and ROTS.

Please don’t tell me that CGI-Lea and CGI-Tarkin don’t look like videogame characters…

Anyway, visually speaking, AOTC et ROTS looks like an old video game, I don’t disagree.
My point is that if we talk about the scenario (and not about the visual aspect), R1 is a long and boring linear “shoot them up” game, especially the last battle (where is the big button to transmit the plans ? How, here it is !)

Edit : PS: A friend told me that he liked R1 because it reminded him “Battlefront”…

The argument that two CGI characters don’t look very convincing has nothing to do with the scenario, as you say in your second sentence. so that isn’t a point supporting your assertion that R1 is like a video game.

The simplicity of having to press the big transmit button, sure, that i can buy, it does seem like a very simple puzzle, in fact it does remind me of Myst.

I don’t play Battlefront, but why exactly does this remind your friend of that game? is it because the game has an overlapping plot? that this is a movie with an epic battle?

I had a chocolate chip waffle at a hotel yesterday. No syrup for me. It was good.

Currently eating an apple. Granny Smith. Uniquely fierce tartness, exceptionally good.

Granny Smith albums are life.

So, like life they are a terrible and insufferable trek through endless misery?

Reported.

Talking to people again? Reported

Why was the Ranking the Star Wars Films thread locked over the behavior of only one person who has trolled consistently over the years? I was having a ROTS vs. TFA/R1 discussion and now I forgot what I was going to type in response to Frink and the other guy I was talking to.
