i can imagine the fleet circling like planes do over a crowded airport to avoid collisions, but that metaphor doesnt stand when the spaceships can just stop. i think the uniformity idea sounds good, but may give the impression that the fleet actually knows where to go, which at this point it doesnt quite. the test will be seeing them in motion, its hard to make a decision i guess until we see them moving.
just backtracking, i think the yellow stripe should be kept. it kind of looks better, and then han and lando are visually similar in their outfits, so perhaps highlights their similarities.

i think it amy have been a crude attempt at highlighting its harsh times for the rebellion. in the prequels the colours of each film seem tailored to the mood, (EP1+2 being rosy and over saturated to show the inoocence and romance, EP3 being alot darker and broodier) in ROTJ the colours seem to get a bit jolly again after the emperor is killed, han almost looks like he is wearing lipstick!
