STAR WARS: EP V "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - 12GB 1080p MP4 VERSION AVAILABLE NOW
Time

Can't wait for the trailer. Instead of just throwing it into MediaPlayerClassic, I think I'm going to go through the trouble of putting it on my WDTV so my first experience of it will be on my flatscreen TV. I may even turn the lights down and pop some popcorn. And put on a red velvet smoking jacket.

You can really see the difference in size between the included dish and the "correct" size in the second link you posted. I am amazed that Adywan is taking on such a huge task as building this model on top of everything else he is doing with this project. I know what kind of time and patience it takes to build something like this. I built this http://www.starshipmodeler.com/1999/js_warp_eagle.htm years ago, and it was a nightmare due to the brittle parts (sure looks good though). Of course the Fine Molds will be different material, but just the thought of it containing over 800 parts makes my head spin. I can't wait to see how this comes out, but I get the feeling that we won't be seeing it anytime soon.

Like I said, I get that feeling too! Extreme amounts of work for only one man.....this could take a long while, but I'm sure it will look great.

I know. If I lived in the UK, I would totally be ady's volunteer assistant. Hell, I would pay HIM to work on this project. Just bringing him coffee, dusting the models, combing the wampa puppet, etc.

Great shot Ady! Major credit for changing the officer's uniform.

was going to ask the same thing that Angel did about the window reflections. I always felt these windows look too much like openings to the outside. The subtle reflection of the frame is all you need to suggest glass panes.

GREAT work Ady! Though I've not commented much, it's been fun to watch the progress as you go.

asterisk8: I always just assumed many of the windows in cloud city were openings in the walls and not glass enclosed windows. Funny how when you think you see something as a kid you just assume it as you go forward

Yes, I always assumed the same thing as a kid, until one day it struck me that they are high up and yet there's no wind coming in through the openings, so they must be glass windows.

I really liked seeing the long 'stem' in this shot previously (which was a really great design element of the floating city), which has now been obscured by some of the new cloud pattern.

I have to agree. The long stem is iconic of Cloud City in my mind. Maybe the cloud movement will reveal more of it. I hope so, at least.

I totally understand where Sevb32 is coming from. He's not saying every shot needs unique stars, but just that a single shot with repeated groupings is hard to "unnotice" once you notice it. It looks unnatural to see the same star cluster on the left and right of the screen, and it would be especially apparent blown up on a 60" TV. I agree that it's not the most important fix on ady's list, but if he has the time, blacking out a few of the stars on the right to break up the repeated pattern would do the trick. That's all.

I can handle star backgrounds used more than once, but in the shot with the falcon dodging the Star Destroyers, the same exact star patterns are repeated in the same shot on the left and the right, that drives me nuts and I will always notice it. just the bottom right one needs changed.

I have no problem with starfields repeated in different shots, but I can see what Sevb32 is saying about this particular shot. Even if a couple of stars in each of the right groupings were painted out it would help break up the pattern and be less obvious.

Still i like the sky has a bit more blue to popup

-Angel

Unlike most other times, I have to disagree with you Angel. In adywan's shot, the mountain and blue in the upper right balance the concentrated dark shape of Luke and the tauntaun in the bottom right. Add too much blue sky, and it overpowers the image. It's the first thing you see. Whereas, in ady's shot, the eye naturally hits on the dark splotch in the bottom right first, and then moves smoothly to the background where a large mountain gives the scene a dramatic sense of scale.

Okay. This whole "it's a long ways off, there's no point in talking about it yet" is getting REALLY old.

This isn't a situation for us as observers and advisors where we're stuck with having to cross whatever bridge when we come to it. We're in the cool seats of being able to talk about any film in the saga, and what we believe needs changed. It's irrelevant how far off it is.

Talk about it all you want. Just not in this thread. This thread is for Empire Strikes Back: Revisited. Adywan shouldn't have to wade through 20 posts about ROTJ to find the one important post about an ESB continuity error, and it's also unfair to those people who bring up good points that get lost in the midst of an off-topic discussion.

OK, I'm done hall-monitoring. ;)

It has been a long time since I've been here. So let me get this straight, Lando is gonna die? Please Adywan, NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I don't want to sound like a jerk, but it's not up for debate, and even if it was, this isn't the proper place. This is adywan's project, and if he wants to make Yoda orange, it's his choice. It's downright rude to get bent out of shape over his choices and clog up the wrong thread with complaints. Some of you need to respect the man's right to change what he wants. Ady has always had intelligent and insightful reasons behind every decision in this project.

If you don't like what he's doing, you're free to watch any of the other fan edits or make your own.

People need to keep in mind that the Revisited Project is Ady's vision of Star Wars. I know that all of our input in this thread has made it feel like a group project or OT-by-committee, but that's not what adywan intended. We're here to point out things that need fixing, not debate the merits of adywan's choices. Ady has always been up front and honest about the radical changes he plans to make to ROTJ and the prequels. Those with strong attachments to the movies have plenty of viewing options, including several other fan edits. You could even take the time to learn the process and do your own fan edit. Ady was no pro when he started. He was just like us.

Basically, when adywan says "This is what I'm doing," that's the end of the story. I've rarely seen him change his mind, least of all because someone here begged him to. The best thing anyone reading this thread could do for themselves is remember this is adywan's fan edit. We're lucky he's sharing it with us. I think it's awfully presumptuous of people to argue or debate his changes as if he should try to suit everyone's tastes. If his primary goal was satisfying every Star Wars fan, he would never have started the Revisted project in the first place.

That was very impressive! The only thing that bothered me was how brown Yoda looked...

He's indoors in soft yellow light in a brown room. Colors can be deceptive. A white wall in sunlight looks yellow, a dark blue shirt indoors or at night can look black. Yoda looks fine in that scene because it's natural for the hue of his skin to take on some of the brown of the interior space. If he was bright green in every setting (which is how he looks in the PT, no matter the lighting or tone of the scene) it would look unnatural.

Lol I ve Just noticed that Ady placed window's reflections to the glassed when leia is shoots ( check 1st page of the comparison pics)

Very subtle and cool!

-Angel

What? I can't see any reflections... ?

Where am I supposed to be looking?

You might have to zoom in to see it. The windows have a very subtle reflection of the window frame, which the original shot lacks. Angel's right, it's really well done.

Great work Ady! Even when you're under the weather you deliver!

Have you thought about making the tauntaun's ear twitch a little here and there? It's so perfectly still, but if you look at horses, for example, their ears move anytime there's a sound. Just a thought. You've certainly got more important things on your list.

Bravo on your defense of your PT vision, ady. I'm one of those Star Wars fans that's torn over the new trilogy, because there are times where it's simply fantastic and hits all of the same buttons that the original trilogy hit for me, but then there's a clock wipe to a new scene and that feeling is dashed. I know, from having read various posts you've made about the PT that you feel the same, and I think given the time and the right tools that you could offer a unique vision of the PT that has the heart and soul of the OT.

Question about the wampa scene, forgive me if you've mentioned this already. Are you replacing every shot of the wampa with your new model, or just the cave scenes?

Beautiful work, ady! I've literally had to forget about your project for the last few months because the anticipation is KILLING ME! Now that I've had some time to go back through the last 150 pages and see all of the clips you've generously provided I have to say I'm not sure it will be possible to forget again. Waiting + bated breath = me.

Cheers!

Steering things somewhat back on topic....

Is it against the rules for adywan to do some kind of raffle to help raise money for equipment? The prize could be an original signed Star Wars painting by the man himself. I know I would buy a few raffle tickets for that. Or is that considered profiting from your fan-edit (even though no one is paying for a copy of said fan-edit)? If doing a fan-edit trashes your computer, fans chipping in to fix it isn't really profit, it's recouping losses, right?

Just a thought.

Yep, Chips are definitely things you have with Fish, and Crisps are best found in a noisy bag!

So if crisps are chips, and chips are fries, then what are fries?

I've always been tickled by how the American word "fanny pack" is interpreted in the UK as well.
