Help: looking for... Robocop 2 - the workprint (and questions on Robocop 3)
Time

I’m wondering if anyone here saw the earlier workprint of the film, with scenes of Robocop visiting Murphy’s grave, Cain buying a Robocop statue and others…? The workprint that I have is apparently later, and is missing those scenes (some images for comparison below) - and I would be interested in learning e.g. how the scenes with Cain’s “hippie lair” look…

Incidentally, was there ever any rough version of Robocrap 3? (Maybe a fan edit would save it… mostly by getting rid of the damn kid

And then perhaps it would be time to reedit the Robocop TV series DVDs and get rid of the “Gadget” and some of those horrible “jokes” (“Cray Z. Mallardo”… argh!)…

'The Keep' fan edits...? (a 'The Keep' project within this thread) (Released)
Time
Thanks, the quality is amazing, just incomparable with the truncated VHS encode that I found online some time ago. I'm just reediting it before burning, since I can't watch DVDs without even the simplest menus. If someone wants to do the same before burning, I think this video slide & music clip is going to make a nice menu background:

(I'm also adding a DVD-ROM directory with an e-book of the novel, some images, the trailer... and an .avi of the bad VHS transfer. )

By the way, Mann's film may be the only case in cinematic history where a truly bad adaptation of a truly good novel turns out to be... a truly good film of its own.

Little Shop of Horrors original ending (Released)
Time
Is it really that bad to have to answer 10 easy trivia questions to get access to the ending?

Quite doltish. It also reminds me of what the mutts at New Line did with their "Nightmare on Elm Street" box - to see the alternate ending, one had to complete an imbecilic "game" on the bonus disc. After two minutes of that "game", I ripped the disc, extracted all M2V files from the VOBs, and found the alternate ending by checking file sizes...

By the way, it would indeed be lovely to have the greedy producer of the film let Oz do a true director's cut and restore this Real And Good Ending to its proper place in the film, in color... taking the horrible current "happy" ending that the cretins from the preview audience demanded and relegating it to DVD extras (as is e.g. the case with that laughable "happy ending" of "To live and die in L. A.:"...).

Idea & Info: "Darkman" - unaired tv pilot & info on a bonus disc project...
Time
This may be out this year or next. The consensus is that it "needs to be ready" when Spiderman III strikes, to cash in on the director's name. The features being only discussed at the moment, probably only some will end up in the release (if it comes to fruition at all, of course):

DVD-18 side I:
Darkman
Widescreen HD master
Dolby 5.1 / DTS
Trailers, TV Spots
Extended director's cut (***)
Commentary by Sam Raimi / Isolated Score + Commentary by Danny Elfman (***)
Deleted, alternate & extended scenes (***)
The Darkman TV pilot (***)
Featurettes (***)

Side II:
Darkman II - The Return of Durant
Darkman III - Die, Darkman, Die
TV spots, Trailers

I should soon have the unaired TV pilot that was supposed to start the Darkman series (http://www.movies.westumulka.com/darkman/television.html). If there were interest in it here, I think I could do something with it . I couldn’t seed it as a torrent, but I suppose I could upload it somewhere, perhaps for someone to torrent it… I don’t know yet for sure, but I expect it to be a relatively small XVid file.

Idea: The Thing(s) :)
Time

As much as I’d like to see an extended edit of Carpenter’s Thing, the missing and alternate material probably isn’t openly available… but would anyone happen to be working on a “special fan edition” of the older adaptation, The Thing from Another World? There seems to be much more to work from in its case:

  • “There is a bootleg version of this film released by VidAmerica. It edits out the classic soundtrack and kills-off characters not killed in the theatrical version”.

  • “A colorized version was released on VHS in 1989 by Turner Home Entertainment as an “RKO Color Classic””.

  • “Two scenes were added to the Laserdisc: the kissing scene and a scene of the slaughtered scientist hanging upside down being bled to feed the seedlings”.
