The Worst Scene/Sequence in Any Star Wars Film

Rogue One - Vader’s assault on the Tantive IV.

Um, what? That’s the most universally beloved scene in the movie? If you disliked it for being fanservice, you’re gonna hate Solo.

Is it? Well, at least I now know that my friends aren’t so crazy after all for loving that scene so much.
I think it’s dreadful. Vader had nothing to do with the movie up to that point, (save from another fanservicy scene halfway through that probably only exists to set up the later sequence) so why is the last couple of minutes dedicated to him? Stuff like that contributes to Rogue One not even feeling like a proper movie at all.
My memory’s not too good so I can’t recall exactly how the thing went down, but at the time I thought the way he mowed through a bunch of goodies with his lightsaber and epic force powers like he’s the player character in The Forced Unleashed was actually pretty goofy and uncharacteristic of how Darth normally conducts himself. Vader doesn’t strike me as the type to do any dirty work himself, he’s well behind the stormtroopers when he first makes his appearance in the first movie and taking out his lightsaber to duel Obi-Wan seemed like a pretty big deal. Guess not though, apparently he sparks that thing up to take down petty troops all the time. The scene didn’t even please the fanboy in me, so I don’t know what this apparent hype around it is all about.

does display type matter ?
Time

So, would it be in a casual viewer’s interest to invest in a CRT TV if they don’t have the space/money for a huge modern setup? If so, could someone point me in the right direction in regard to learning more about this kind of thing/where to look to purchase reliable CRT TVs (second-hand market would be sketchy, yes?)? I’m starting to get more and more concerned about the picture quality of the things I watch, and I think my cheap HD LCD TV might be holding me back a bit.
Or is the difference not that noticeable/significant? I don’t want to be a hipster type, only getting older technology for the sake of it or anything lol

Disney to buy 20th (21st) Century Fox? (Disney has now bought them - 14 Dec '17)
Time

I’m kind of shocked that some of you guys are more excited by the prospect of this allowing Star Wars/Superhero movie rights to be cleaned up rather than horrified at how this shows that it’s within Disney’s power to own more than half of the studios producing mainstream movies. Hopefully this won’t fall through.

George can make all the changes he wants. Just label it as a separate director’s cut, not the only version that should exist.

George isn’t the director for 66% of the OOT! ;D

Lucas does not seem to care about the term or position of a ‘Director’. In the ROTJ audio commentary he talks about how the trilogy is supposed to mimic the old saturday matinee serials and how the position of the ‘Executive Producer’ was the most important person at this kind of entertainment. He over-justifies his position as a producer basically. But at the same time he devaluates the responsibility & importance of the actual director.

My Respect-for-George-Lucas-O-Meter is going through the floor.

Ranking the Star Wars films
Time
  1. The Empire Strikes Back
  2. Star Wars
  3. Return of the Jedi
  4. The Force Awakens - Only worse than Jedi simply because it’s not part of the original trilogy, as a movie it’s just as good, but Jedi is the natural conclusion to the story.
  5. Revenge of the Sith - Sure it’s not that good and continues the prequel tradition of ruining backstory that should have wrote itself, but at least it’s a movie with good music, good acting for the most part, and feels like an actual narrative and not just Star Wars characters doing things because Star Wars lol.
  6. Carvan of Courage - Fun, stupid little movie.
  7. The Battle for Endor - See above
  8. The Clone Wars - Bad representation of a good series.
  9. Rogue One - No.
  10. The Phantom Menace - Bad, bad movie.
  11. Attack of the Clones - This has to be some kind of sick joke.

It’s honeslty disgusting that the article treats the topic as a good thing.
It’s even more disgusting that, according to this article, Japan’s entire “geek culture” is anime.
People do realise that most anime is made for horny thirteen year old boys, right?
Liking anime is far from something to be pround of.
