Great find!
Great find!
And they use a graphic of the one ship in the SW universe used to smuggle contraband. ;)
The Death Star might have been a more obvious choice for a pie chart...
Was flipping channels, and spotted Hayden in this movie...

Maybe a source for dialog? Or do you have the DVD already?
How did Disney muck this up so badly in the marketing? I didn't even see any action figures for this.
Is it worth getting at Best Buy for the exclusive bonus disc?
I saw the cheapo SciFi Channel movie version on the shelves recently. It aired as "Princess of Mars", and for DVD has been retitled "John Carter of Mars". Talk about poking Disney in the eye!
Spooky timing, Tobar.
I saw the promo. Looks like the same prototype puppet pictured in the "Once Upon a Galaxy" book.
Are those screenshots from that "lost" ESB documentary? I sort of like one eyed pirate Yoda! ;)
I finally saw the "Hollywood Treasures" episode on SciFi last night where this beautiful piece of hardware was auctioned off. Don't know if it was a rerun, or there is a big lag between when the show is shot and when it airs.
Carrie Fisher's brother is the person who brought the camera to the auction house. He had to sweeten the pot before Joe Maddalena, the head guy at the auction house would bite, by throwing in a Marylin Monroe costume into the deal.
Joe didn't think something as esoteric as a film camera would sell for much. I've seen him dismiss other esoteric behind the scenes items before on the show, so it was great seeing the expression on his face as this camera became the most expensive Star Wars item ever auctioned off to date. Never underestimate the fans. ;)
One heartbreaking tidbit was mentioned. Panavision apparently destroyed all the other cameras of this type they still had in their possession. What a waste.
Wow, I didn't think anyone had ever tried ripping that obscure format. I have a D-VHS deck I got cheap, but it didn't have the D-Theater logo, so I never bothered getting any of the tapes. I saw a couple of the movies that somehow ended up in the VHS bin at Big Lots a few years back.
With that B&W shot, I think it's a combination of the lighting and possibly the makeup not being touched up.
We're also seeing a lot of these pictures in much better quality than we would in old magazines or newspapers. They would probably do some digital tweaking to such a photo today.
The Criterion only had the French Taunting scene presented with English subs in the supplements section, and they don't call it a holy sake cup. You'll be able to view it on the captures I did.
I've only just come back from a brief trip, and will get back up to speed on this in a couple days.
Hilarious!

How many times in the past has he said this exact same thing.

GEORGE: I'm sick and tired of big budget extravaganzas. I'm going to step away from it all and make a YouTube Poop with MS Paint and Windows Movie Maker on my son's PC.
*time passes*
GEORGE: Next summer I'm going to re-release the Extra Super-Duper Spectacular Supreme Edition of the Star Wars Saga for first time on 4-D UltravioletDisc. This version will feature all-new scenes which add new facets to the grandiose story already present, including footage of Han and Chewie engaged in raw zoophilic sex. I always intended the Han-Luke-Leia love triangle to be a Han-Chewie-Luke-Leia quadrangle, but I didn't have the technology back in the day to adequately portray realistic human-Wookiee anal penetration. Now, with the Almighty Computer at my command, I can have my Star Wars as the way it was always, always, always meant to be.
Was this really needed to make your point?
I've never seen that beach photo before. It reminds me of the Rolling Stone cover from 1983, but that was shot indoors.
Funny thing is you can see a similar beach chair and what looks like the same cooler in the edge of the shot. There must be some interesting negatives sitting in a dusty drawer in the archives of RS.
The only bad spot I could hear is a click or pop when Arthur reaches into the chest containing the Holy Hand Grenade.
I checked the same spot on the Criterion and it's there, so it's a soundtrack flaw, not a disc one. It's not there on the 1999 DVD, so either they used a different source or did some cleanup.
The fact the soundtrack has a little hiss is a good sign it wasn't fiddled with.
I need to review the Japanese soundtrack, and we should be good to go. PM me with your address when you get the chance.
Sorry, I never played any of the Zelda games.
Too bad about the audio on the bloopers.
Maybe you could pipe in the cantina music over the whole scene? They are flying coach after all! ;)
One thing I hadn't picked up on before, was that the Japanese LD of the first film came out four years before the U.S. release.

I wonder if there's any differences beside subtitles?
It never occurred to me that fellow talked like Yoda!
I got through the Japanese track last night, and working on the original mono tonight. The 1994 disc has some speckling issues on side two, but not enough to affect the soundtrack. If I do detect any static noise issues, I'll just use side two of the Criterion, as it's well past Castle Anthrax.
As an aside, I can't believe how bad the old '83 LD looks. (Not just the laser rot.) The print was either badly color timed, or faded in some way. The greens are just gone. The peasant scene is a field of gray grass, and the Green Knight is also devoid of color. Every video release until the early 90's probably looked like this.
Wish I still had a CED player to justify getting RCA's letterboxed version.
On a related note, the first season of the MIB cartoon series has been released on DVD as a Target store exclusive. Hopefully, they will release the rest of the series.
I like the cheesy airport terminal music in the background.
Any plans to use the blooper on the transport where Hayden's soup is too hot?
I'd rather see money spent on a telecine that can handle those larger reels.
That's the only thing holding up those Derann prints at this point.
The rock band I presume?
Cool that you found that.
As Mr. Smits was often a MST3K riff, would it be too obscure a joke to hear Tom and Crow saying his name in the rear channels the first time he appears in a scene?
They have 4K projectors for the home already? Wow.
