I watched one of the preliminary encodes I found on the hd with a couple of friends, and we were all super stoked.  The new voice is great.  A lot of the time we couldn't tell it was ADR.  There definitely are a couple spots that need to be rerecorded, but it might just be I need to get the level down with the rest of the mix.  The new pace and music is really cool, very vintage.  The new fx are great.  People thought Jar Jar's voice was way better, but there was still some concern over the voice, it might've also just been the mix, but it might also need a better quality recording.  I like the direction with Jar Jar though.  I haven't followed the thread intensely, so I don't know if anyone has heard the new stuff from him, but he seems more like a character from the Catina in ANH rather than...Jar Jar.

This feels like the Star Wars I thought was coming with Episode I, modern, but classic.

I didn't expect all the sequences to be in separate projects, anyway I'll look through them one at a time and write up what I think.  My instinct is to start editing away, but I realize I should talk to you first.  I'll pitch any video edits first, but audio will definitely be really fun to work on.  I'll see about doing it in Hi Def, the editing was a lot more intense than I thought, but I'll definitely try to give it the upgrade.

This is a pretty cool project everyone.  You should all be really excited.

Great job everyone.  It was a whacky ten rounds, with a few good uses of people's items to throw a monkey wrench or two into the middle of things.  I'm thinking of taking things in a new direction, although right now I'm working on a couple of things, these plus school and work don't add up to a lot of time on my hands.  I'm sure people noticed my activity in the thread was a tad fleeting.  Despite the challenges, I'm excited to try something new with the thread.  For now, though, I'm going to leave it to you guys for a few days.  I'll have HotRod's awesome banner ready in a day or two.  Oh yeah, and astromech gets the thermal detonator back.  It didn't work out the way I thought.

Try to stump each other.  Basic rules for asking a question are as follows:

1) The prequels don't exist.  The special editions don't exist.  Although, if you want to throw in a little PT satire within your questions, that's okay, for example: "Who played Anakin Skywalker before he was decapitated and Hayden Christenson's head was haphazardly CGI-glued to his body?"  Just make sure all answers are restricted to OUT knowledge.

2) Keep the focus on the films themselves, not a whole bunch of EU stuff, although some leaning into more esoteric knowledge is okay.  A good example of an EU-ish question that would be allowed is "what are the ugly creatures that run the carbon freeze thingy".  Although the answer is not available by simply watching the films, it's okay because the script probably holds the answer, or the answer is not completely restricted to the world outside the movies.  Also, questions about production/early drafts are also okay, like "what physicist were Yoda's eyes based on".  Again, questions are not exactly constricted to only the movies themselves, but not too much EU stuff, please.

3) You're working for points here, but you're not exactly competing, not officially anyway, not yet.  Don't ask impossible questions in the hopes of getting the most points.  You want everyone to have a lot of points.  Be tough, really test people's knowledge.

4) Each question is worth three points.

Uh oh, the final round has commenced.  The world goes silent as astromech retrieves a small circular device from underneath his clothes.  A thermal detonator, activated, the fail dead trigger held down in mortal constriction.  We'll see how this plays out once people have answered questions.  Hopefully the stress of waiting on whether a question has been answered correctly or not won't cause astromech to lose his hold on everyone's life.  Maybe if somebody pays a little in terms of points or items, astromech might back off and put it away.  It's up to you guys.

What the hell?  It's some small green creature.  What would he have to say to us?  We were expecting a great warrior...  Evidentally, as he tells us, wars not make one great.  His strange object-subject-verb syntax (6 POINTS for anyone who can remember what the syntactical scheme is called when you do that) seems to reveal a wisdom beyond his stature.  He rummages through everybody's crap.  "Hey get out of there!  You're gonna break something!"  As he throws people's points and items on the ground (finding a fun flashlight to play with), Johnny Ringo sneaks in and grabs the rummaged mess.  2 proton torpedos and 7 points.

Sad news for our trivial pursuit team.  It appears that while Johnny Ringo was leaning over the railing to try and catch a glimpse of Jabba's eye color for a juicy six points, he tipped over and fell straight into the sarlaac pit.  A wiry tentacle grabbed his leg as he tried to escape, and pulled him down into its dark and grisly depths.  Mielr rejoices, as the satisfied belch emmitted by the creature from inside its abysmal tomb seemed also to emit 6 of Johnny Ringo's points.

Near the back of the skiff, where our players have decided to do battle, see you auntie breaks out a stolen blaster rifle, and prepares to fire.  Though it hasn't been specified who the blaster is aimed at.  The bolt rings wildly through the crowd and hits (random number generator), Moth3r.  Damn.  The shot incapacitates the maternal moderator, making it impossible to answer any questions this round.

Meanwhile, deep inside the horrible creatures stomach, Johnny Ringo struggles to breathe.  The beast begins its slow and excruciatingly confusing digestive process, thought up by the greatest in extended universe over-thinking minds on the planet.  For anyone who knows anything about a sarlaac outside of Return of the Jedi, it makes a psychic connection with its prey (which makes perfect sense [doesn't roll eyes]).  As the hungry digestive systems tries to convince Johnny Ringo that hanging out to be eaten for the next thousand years would be totally awesome, he scrambles in his mind for a way to maintain his own sense of self awareness.  Ah, yes.  Some Star Wars trivia will do.  If he can just keep his mind on the answers to some Star Wars questions, then he can maintain his own indepenent mind enough to escape, and maybe grab some half digested items/points on the way out.

of course you can still answer.  sometimes it might not be a good idea, with landmines and sarlaac pits being planted, but it's no big deal.  the whole point is to give yourself a leg up.

Okay, nothing to panic about.  I just had to reinstall amvap for some reason, but I lost my misc filters, which just means I have to reload plugins/replace plugins in my directories/scripts.  Phew.  Back on track.

First, it took me a week to find the Intervideo Audio Processor Fx filter in graphedit.  Didn't matter how many times or ways I tried to install WinDVD.  Ugh.  I tried creating custom matrices, based on the dolby surround matrix, in different processors, no luck.  Finally, I just used ac3 decoder, and it worked!  I seperated the channels that I can use as the base for rebuilding the portions of the soundtrack needed.  A mixture of these tracks, and the isolated score, should sound great.

Unfortunately, as I reopened my project in Premiere, all my .avs files were offline.  When I tried to re-associate them with the appropriate files on my hard drive, premiere said a codec was missing.  In trying to get the Intervideo Audio Processor, one attempt I had made involved uninstalling my codec pack (which works great for me, although I know you're not supposed to use codec packs), and installing a different one.  Even after reinstalling my old codec pack (or what I believe I remembered was my old codec pack), I'm still getting a "missing codec" with the .avs files.  I've googled this as best I can, but I can't seem to figure it out.

And to think I thought I was almost done...blegh.

Come to think of it, I'm going to be getting an external hard drive back from Trooperman very soon.  Perhaps if I don't figure it out by then, I can just encode my .avs scripts as lossless .avis, and reassociate my project files with the lossless .avis.  I'll have the hard drive space.

I'm gonna do a new system this round.  Instead of writing up ten questions and rounds every night or so, I'm going to write out all rounds, all 60 questions, all point values/traps/items beforehand, and post them one by one.  This way, any issues with my schedule won't effect the pace of the game.  I just post the new round that night, already written up on my computer.  I feel this will be more efficient on my end, and won't put any stress on the game.  I'll pre-write the questions over the next couple of days, while working on astromech's banner. 

Episode III: The Return of the Revenge of Star Wars Trivial Pursuit, will commence.
