Not sure if this counts but here

Lord Zerome, I’ve adjusted your link in the quote above - if you put any word or words in your post within these kind of brackets

[ like this ]

and then put the link directly after it within these kind of brackets

( wwwexampleforzerome.com )

with no spaces between anything, it will make your posts much tidier and easier to read.

As regards that link to the Batman blu-rays, I know they’re officially on the way soon but I didn’t think they’ve been released anywhere in the world yet. The seller seems to be a lot less dubious than sellingstuffagain and the teamblu imposters though so if it is a bootleg, they might be unaware. It’s a good looking one though, I kinda hope that’s what the official release looks like. Not at all in keeping with the tone of the actual animated series but I think it’s quite well put together.

Do you know all those members who’ve mysteriously stopped posting over the years? Here one day and gone the next?

I think another member PM’d them for an IRL meet-up and murdered them.

They probably have their corpses stuffed and dressed up in Star Wars costumes posed throughout their house.

Just so you know guys, it wasn’t me.

“Hatchet”

Lots of people get killed and Harmony from Buffy and Angel gets her knockers out. 3.5 out of 10.

“Hatchet II”

Ever wondered what it would look like if a man was dragged across the room by his intestines then strangled with them so hard that his head popped off? Well then look no further my friend because this is the movie for you. 3 out of 10.

“Hatchet III”

The bad guy gets chopped in half longways by falling backwards onto a huge chainsaw in the first few minutes. Fear not, he comes back shortly after and resumes his rampage. The big guns turn up but are no match. Everybody dies but apparently there’s another sequel… 2 out of 10.

“Victor Crowley”

Despite being melted by having a relative’s ashes tipped out from an urn onto him in the last movie that naughty lad Victor is back for more bloody shenanigans as I wonder what the hell I’m doing with my life. 3 out of 10.

Anchor Bay teamed up with Shout Factory to release a huge boxed set of the first 10 Halloween films. Unfortunately, it’s the only way to get the original film with the damned mono track, and lossless to boot. But you can’t get it individually. Which is all I want. Goddamn first world problems.

We kinda discussed something along similar lines to this near the bottom of this page and some more people replied on the next page. I bought the 10-disc set not knowing that a 15-disc set existed so I was trying to figure out what I was missing out on.

From what I can tell the Halloween version in the 10 disc box is just disc one from the 2-disc 35th anniversary release (you get both in the 15-disc set.) You can buy the 35th anniversary individually, prices vary wildly but I’ve never seen it more expensive than the 10-disc set. I think that’s your best option, Mike.

But maybe the new film’s release this year will bring yet another re-release of the original so it might be worth waiting for that?

Your favorite movies
Time

I’ve never actually compiled an all-time favourites list before and it was actually much more difficult than I thought it would be (I also couldn’t get it down below 25 movies!) I’ve left off anything Star Wars because, for me, that exists in a magical realm outside of normal judgement… I’ve also just alphabetised the list because I simply cannot put it in any other kind of order:

Aliens
Amelie
Back to the Future
Before Sunrise
Charade
Die Hard
E.T.
Face/Off
Ferris Bueller’s Day Off
Ghostbusters
Groundhog Day
Jaws
Jurassic Park
Labyrinth
The Lady Vanishes (1938)
North By Northwest
Planes, Trains and Automobiles
Psycho
Rear Window
The Thing (1982… obviously!)
This Is Spinal Tap
12 Angry Men
The Untouchables
Waking Ned
Who Framed Roger Rabbit

The subscriber’s cover for that issue of Empire is awesomer in every way.

Ugh. Of all the great quotes they coulda’ used, they went with that embarrassing pun.
Oh dear, oh dear.

I have to agree with you there. What’s wrong with, “If this is a consular ship…”? It’s surely the most appropriate quote for that artwork!

The artwork is awesome though, just awesome.

How do you sort your movies?

oojason said:

I’m not sure how the movies are sorted - one of the butlers just gets them for me.

😉

Just kidding - we have maids for that sort of thing now.

Yeah, and you should see what he makes us wear!

My collection is arranged alphabetically with DVDs and BDs all mixed in together. The exceptions being we’ve got prequels before the film they precede and “universes” like Star Trek and Star Wars in chronological order. Also, the MCU is under A for Avengers which made sense when there were only five films but is downright barmy now that the squillion other movies, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D and Daredevil and everything else is there alongside it. Hmm.

I’m a ginger, so maybe a svelte Garfield?

Also, I do like that DuracellEnergizer chap, I’ve missed reading his posts and I appreciate his maturity in how he returned to the forums.

And whilst I’m praising other members - I also like Paja, mad as a box of frogs but he’s one of the good guys.

To Canon or Not To Canon...
Time

I tend to agree with Ender - it’s best to keep an open mind about how all these stories fit together. It’s a lot less stressful isn’t it?

The Halloween series just doesn’t work as a cohesive story (and the new one is going to mess things up even further!) but I enjoy watching them - so I just watch them, and enjoy them.

I find information in the new Star Wars canon informs and strengthens continuity and smooths over some dodgy plot points but even the story group reckon there’s a hierarchy of “official” canon - Films>Tv>Books etc.

In my life I’ve gone from not noticing or caring about canon because I wasn’t paying enough attention to obsessively making numbered lists and categories to make sense of certain Tv show timelines (I’m looking at you, Chris Carter and Rick Berman) to mellowing out upon realising faneditors could “fix” things to accepting the whole darn thing is a huge, flawed mess and enjoying things on a more individual level.

But then something like Better Call Saul comes along and frustrates me hugely by demonstrating a perfectly written and internally coherent canon.

Am I actually even answering the question any more? Shut up, me 😕
