Info Wanted: Rogue One differences from Theatrical Cut?

There is plenty of evidence that these changes happened during release and the DVD/BR is 100% faithful to one of the releases. I found multiple audio streams in the camera prints and all these changes can be found at that point.

Do you have these audio streams, could be used to see if the Blu Ray used another mix.

Bullshit!

You tell me how it makes sense for a second that she’d have that flag in her possession. And don’t try and justify it with some other piece of media explaining the flag’s origin. In the context of the film, it’s Anakin’s flag and nothing else. I think it’s a change that makes sense.

That, and I think you’re overestimating how much the prequels would really have an influence on the current state of affairs in the in-universe galaxy. Or are you complaining about lack of world-building while also arguing they should visit more planets we’ve already seen before!?

Woah, woah. That comment was made sarcastically, as well as my signature. This thread is about RO’s home media matching the one shown in theaters, not about me. Find someplace else to discuss that.

Now, back to the topic at hand.

My Star Wars is an orange/green color palette, the crispest 1080p subtitles you’ve ever seen, Yub Nub, ambivalence towards TCW. An unconditional love for Disney and everything they do, the realization that TFA is not only better than the Prequels, but better than the OT, and my discovery of breasts.

Now that’s a bit better. Sure it’s trying to mock what I was going for, but it’s more what I intended.

So did I. It doesn’t. Your posts do.

Sigh. I think what your getting at is that, I’m trying to provoke you into some sort of discourse.
No. I’m wondering what makes Star Wars special for you. Maybe the smell of popcorn from the theater you went to first see it in. The version you first saw. Maybe the order you saw them. I don’t know. Just the small details that make you nostalgic.

No, I not talking about single phrase answers, like “Original Trilogy”.
I mean the sights and sounds that made your Star Wars.
For me it’s blue/magenta color correction, slightly pixilated subtitles, Victory Celebration, the wait and anticipation for the next episode of Clone Wares. A deep hatred for Disney, the steady realization The Force Awakens was crap, and my discovery of Heir to the Empire…

I grew up on the 2004 DvD’s. I don’t understand how that makes me a troll.

Are you really calling TFA’s home video release “butchered”?

No. But it was changed.
I wasn’t being literal.

Was there ever a definitive list of things changed? Aside from people being incorrect about the flags

No that was changed before the theatrical release. (J J and his anti prequel boner)

I mostly remember discussion of the length of the credits (probably the score you mention). However, at the time I’m not sure that there were cams with intact credits.

I believe there is a cam with credits intact, and there is no change with the length I’ve heard of. Just one of the music tracks that plays during the credits.

Was there ever a definitive list of things changed?

If there was, I’ve never seen it.

Just finished watching both simultaneously (the Deflickered cam and official Digital Download) - there were no additional scenes - nor were there any scenes missing (both ran at the same length too). I didn’t notice any changes to the dialogue or music - nor any changes to what was on screen.

There a bloody amazing difference in quality between the two (obviously), as well as colour, detail and being able to see the emotions of the actors - really enjoyed watching it (them) again 😃

Just finished doing the same. Looks like for the first time, a Star Wars movie has gone unbutchered, for better or worse. It’s possible we could be dealing with a missing speeder situation (AOTC), a small visual change, but only time will tell.

The quickest & easiest way to find out any changes/differences is to compare a cam version of the film to the official blu ray / digital download…

I’m told the ‘Deflickered’ version of Rogue One was one of the better quality cams out there…

Yeah, I’d assume we all already got the Blu Ray, now it’s time to hunt down those Cam rips.

EDIT: I have the Deflickered version now although whatever method the bootleggers used to stabilize the image results in frame blending

Just a small gripe as it’s a rather decent cam rip. I’ll start watching the Cam first, then the digital version.

And I have great hope that TLJ will exceed the PT and TFA because Rian Johnson has a good track record, both in writing and directing. From the story leaks I’ve read about (same sources that give fairly good spoilers on TFA) it sounds like it is going to be pretty good. We will know in December. I’m hoping I can put it next to Rogue One as fourth or fifth in my ranking. The bar isn’t very high for it to be fifth. I will be very disappointed if a second ST film fails to exceed the PT in my ranking.

Did you say that about Attack of the CGI? I bet you did.

Also posting this because it still baffles me how some can see Rey and Finn escaping as being a problem when there were more ships in orbit during the Battle of Hoth that caused Luke no trouble and that’s fine. I really need someone to explain this to me.

The Empire didn’t have an Interdictor cruiser. Also, shame on you for criticizing The Empire Strikes Back 😉

That’s why I’ve been trying to distance myself from personal attacks when things get heated. Clinging to the topic at hand for dear life makes things so much simpler.

There’s nothing wrong with questioning someone’s logic if they’re making nonsensical statements but not on the basis for just liking something. Now bewilderment at someone liking something is completely different. If someone can’t stomach that then I don’t know what to say man.

I’m fine with that. Just trying to prevent being ganged on by Frink and others. I’ve seen it happen before on this forum, and it usually results in someone getting banned. I want none of that.

I’m more wondering why you started with your least favorite movie. Generally these lists start at 1.

Really? I usually see lists in the least to best format, not on this forum particularly, just generally.

(Leaps and bounds better)
6.Rogue One
5.Rev
Generally these lists don’t rank TPM over ANH, so I wouldn’t go looking for logic where none exists.

I believe a user has a signature around these lines, “PT lovers can have their opinion, but that doesn’t mean we can’t mock their poor taste.” (Keep in mind that isn’t the exact quote, I’m just going off memory here.) While I agree that your obligated to do so, questioning someone’s logic simply because they disagree with you, or because you have “poor taste” is just sad. Your trying to tell yourself that the guy who disagrees with you is “unlogical” so any argument made by that person should not be taken seriously. I’m taking precautions against that sort of thing.

Custom American ROTS VHS cover?

edit - if you see some on the various ebays around the world, it may be worth asking if the sellers would be willing to do you a hi-res scan for you? - and maybe offer them a few $s for their troubles?

there is one on the uk ebay now if interested? - http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Star-Wars-Episode-III-Revenge-of-the-Sith-Rare-Collectible-VHS-Video-Tape-/122412501609?hash=item1c805a8a69:g:UgUAAOSwsW9Y1Bed

It turns out the seller of that Episode III VHS tape on ebay is a member here - who has that VHS tape for sale as a listing in the ‘Memorabilia Discussion and Buying/Selling/Trading’ Section on here - it may be worth asking him if he could do you a hi-res scan of the cover for you?

Ah you see he’s in the UK. I’m in the US. But I’ll go and ask for a scan.
