The extended versions are not only superior in terms of bonus material, but I also found that the video and audio are a notch above the theatrical versions.

As far as the added scenes, they're not only fun to see, they also (as the case was with the Two Towers) vastly improve upon the film. The added scenes with Faramir, Boromir, and Denethor, for example, even add some continuity that was missing in the previous version.

I love that part too. Even funnier was that Saruman chastised Gandalf for smoking "the halflings' leaf" when he had his own stash of pipe weed!

Dialogue differences between original Ep4 and Retail 2004 Ep4 ?

Yes there may be things you are seeing for the first time since they were panned & scanned out of the video releases. The whole of the Yavin battle seemed off to me because of the high dark levels in many scenes. For example: the trench scene (on video) was lit brightly, the shadow parts were grey, and the star field was overhead. Now, it is lit dimly and has high contrast. You can't see parts of shadowy areas and ships because they are so black, and the star field, on a properly adjusted tv, is hardly there.

The Yavin Battle is identical to the special edition version, with two exceptions. The wonderful music that starts the battle has been pulled back and drowned out by the sound effects, making it next to inaudible. Also, the color of the Death Star's explosion has been tweaked a bit so it is completely white with a blue halo of sorts around it. Oh, and the blast ring is still there.

I think I understand what happened. That floating entity was like the key to our evolution. At the beginning, when the monkey used that bone to kill the others, that thing appeared and allowed for the next step in our evolution. It was like they were somehow "worthy". At the end of the film, man (having made the incredible journey) was now "worthy" of evolving another step. The entity showed up yet again and hence the "star child" you see at the very end.

Exactly. Quoting David Giler: "There were some very interesting things in the movie, but the real basic thing is if you are making a horror movie it shoud be scary. And I don't think Alien 3 is particularly scary."
That's how I feel. Alien 3 was a seriously flawed film long before it was even made. I do, however, appreciate it for what it is. There were great visual moments, character moments, and every scene is drenced in darkness and despair. Say what you want, but Alien 3 is a great movie.

Alright, from Aliens:
"Get away from her you BITCH!"-Ripley. Damn I love that line.
"That's it! Game over, man. Game over!"-Hudson

From Alien3 (the special edition)
"Don't I always give you cigarettes first? Aren't I your friend? I love you, Morse."-Golic. If you've seen the movie you know how funny that is.

From Who's Harry Crumb?:
"I've had my eye on you for a while. It was YOU who were having an affair with your husband all along!"
"What!?"
"I've uncovered some lowlife schemes in my time, but secretly hiring me to take pornographic pictues of you and your sleezball husband is as low as it gets!"
"I don't believe this!!"
"Well, believe what you want, but don't beleive it here!"
"YOU ARE A POOR EXCUSE FOR A HUMAN BEING!"
"Says you."
"OH!"

"My reputation precedes me, otherwise I'd be late for all my appointments"-Harry Crumb

//Pick this: "... that was the last we ever saw of him... he lives now... only in my memories."//

Titanic, right?

The ending of Aliens totally ripped off the ending of the first Alien, with the whole "blown out of the goddamn airlock" thing, to be even later copied in Alien Resurrection. I am sort of fond of Alien3 for being different from the other "Alien" films, and that is why I put "Alien" and "Alien 3" purposely skipping alien 2.
