Just keep on hatin’! You’ll probably start dissing Gram Parsons next.

You used to be funny and intelligent, but I just don’t what happened. I’m not hatin’. I don’t think the Duke is that great of an actor. So what? And I haven’t listened to enough of Gram Parsons music to hate on him.

I agree with Dek about John Wayne, he plays the same character in every movie and the new version of True Grit has a way better lead. I’ve never really been a western fan so maybe I just don’t “get it” but all of John Wayne’s and Clint Eastwood’s films are pretty much the same, I’ve never cared for them (don’t hate me).

I’m glad you understand what I mean, but Clint Eastwood was the key actor I was comparing Wayne to in my mind 😄. I love good westerns, and Clint is great in pretty much all of his western roles.

I’m sorry, I just don’t think his acting is anything spectacular. As far as I’m concerned, he’s pretty much average and overrated.

Oh, and…

…Bridges delivered that line better. To be precise: he delivered that whole film better.

Shouldn’t you be watching Mask of the Phantasm?

And I’m gonna go ahead and guess that Dek hasn’t watched enough John Wayne films to be able to make that statement anyway.
But that’s alright. he’s only young.

I’ve seen plenty John Wayne films, and I even like some of them (like Hatari!), but John Wayne has to be one of the most overrated actors in history. He’s not a great actor. Other actors who ‘play themselves’ are interesting and can pull of a character (like Jimmy Stewart), but I just find John Wayne’s acting to be quite bland and unlikable.

“Modern remake” as in “a remake set in the modern day instead of the original period”?

I think you know the answer to that question.

I honestly wasn’t sure what he meant by modern. I mean, I didn’t lose respect for Jeff Bridges when he starred in the remake of True Grit, because it was superior to the original film adaptation (and really anything else starring John Wayne, for that matter). If modern refers to remakes made post-2015, then True Grit wouldn’t be included in that statement. And even though my original question wasn’t entirely serious, I wouldn’t put that thought process past him 😉.

Star Trek IV: The Voyage Home (1986) – B-

Star Trek V: The Final Frontier (1989) – C+

These are the weakest original series Trek films, but I still like them both (IV more than V). I actually watched them because I wanted to make cut-list notes for a fanedit of V, and I just decided to watch IV along with it.

The Princess Bride (1988) – B++

A great, entertaining film. It never hurts to watch it again every once in a while.

EDIT: I’m gonna upgrade The Princess Bride to an A-.
