Time

Haven't visited these boards in over a year now, but with TPM in theaters again, I finally got round to (trying to) edit the space battle at the end of TPM.

I always liked the design of TPM (not that there was anything else to like), especially the Naboo starfighters (visually and audibly) and the "Death Saturn" (as I like to call it).
By all logic, that space battle should have been awesome, but I have only seen it once or twice as I really just can't stand the way it plays out.

This was an attempt (more a proof of concept) to see if the battle itself could be made a bit more enjoyable (aka make Anakin a bit less useless/annoying)

Biggest changes:
- Anakin flying a starfighter is now part of the plan
- Anakin no longer arrives late to the battle
- Anakin knows how to fly
- Anakin _decides_ to take out the generator (instead of doing it all by accident)

Don't pay too much attention to the audio; it's a rough cut, and I'm not an editor, so I do mean ROUGH...

Are you sure you copied the _entire_ script? The median1 function is clearly defined at the end...

The tweaked version of Yoda looked a little yellow for me
+1, to me the close-up of Luke on Bespin looked a bit too colourful as well

Can't say I see much point in the ESB tweak tbh, the V3 looks perfect as it is :-)

^ Bravo for the brand new avatar ! Now I can say how much I hated the old one. :)

Haha, fair enough, it was getting time I changed that placeholder :p

Quick question: since I have FireFox instead of IE7 it seems I can't save an image as bmp instead of jpeg. I tried to change manually the extension but didn't seem to work. Any thoughts ?

(IE7 was so much more comfortable... Sigh).

er, if the image on the web is a jpeg, you're going to get a jpeg... if IE7 let you save it as bmp then I'm guessing it simply changed the extension, not the actual image itself. Not that you'd get better quality otherwise.
(oh and if you're going to work lossless, use png ;-) )

It's so great to see this project in its final stages, DJ. I'm very much looking forward to watching these :-)

Every flipped face, every flipped R2, every major flipped asymmetrical object sticks out like a sore thumb and takes the viewer out of the moment, especially in the modern age of repeat viewing on DVD etc.

Yeah... no
I never noticed the flipped shots, but the unflipped shots do stick out like a sore thumb. Stuff going in the "wrong" (stylistic) direction and all.

You can only do that sort of slight of hand for a single viewed film (if the viewer isn't that observant).

Ouch?

Good job SSWR!
I still can't stand the post-transformation Palpatine, though.
The ridiculous "demonic" voice, "a good sith you will become"... bwuh

Couldn't you cut all his lines after "you are fulfilling your destiny"?

The last few times I've watched the movie, I kind of hoped for something like this.  I just assume that he started cutting while we weren't looking.

Except it's completely pointless. Why would Vader destroy the door? Letting the Falcon escape was part of the plan. It's a trap remember?

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 <strong>REVISITED</strong> ADYWAN *<em>720p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION</em>
Time

I think he's trying to say that he wants to add the German subs or dub to ANH:R. There's something about him reinstating the Jabba scene as well as the extended Alderaan destruction scene.
he might be having syncing problems because of some frames Adywan added/removed

But he lost me at ROTJ, I have no idea what his actual question is.

Try again in German ZeN, there must be someone on these boards that can help translate! ;-)

Surely the blue ice effect will only be an issue in certain lighting conditions.

An open ice plane would only reflect a blue sky directly upwards, A cliff would only reflect blue if the light was such that the sky colour would bounce more than the hue of direct sunlight.

Inside a cave I doubt if you would get any blue reflection at all.

This is a common misconception. Water and ice don't look blue because of the sky, they look blue because they ARE blue.
H2O absorbs red light, giving water its blue look.

It has nothing to do with the reflection of a blue sky (well, that probably helps as well).
