Will anyone please video capture the "When Star Wars Ruled the World" Vh1 Special?
Time
This special is worth it just for the comments that Irvin Kirshner makes.

It's also nice to see practically the entire Star Wars cast, including Harrison Ford, participating in the same Star Wars documentary.

Another plus is an appearance by Gary Kurtz. I've always felt that GW wanted erase him from Star Wars history.

Yes, some of it has been said before, and unfortunately Kevin Smith is in this, but still, it's at least worth watching.
And I for one would love to see it on SVCD/DVD. I'm really suprised someone hasn't capped it already.

BTW, if anyones interested there are out take video clips available at Vh1.com.

Hello Everyone and thanks for reading.

I guess my topic line says it all. This month Vh1 is running a special entitled "When Star Wars Ruled the World."
Originally, I did not expect much from it. However, after seeing it for the first time a couple of days ago, I began to realize how good it really is. In fact, I think it's fantastic.

There is some great footage of the cast and crew on the set. Also Kirsher and Harrison Ford both appear in this TV Magazine Style documentary. Excellent stuff.

So I was hoping that some kind soul with the right stuff will capture this show and make it available on the Bit Torrent network in a nice, high res SVCD ready or DVD ready format.

I have actually been surfing the web for days hoping that someone would do exactly what I mentioned above. Those of you familiar with the Torrent network probably already know that usually one can find almost anything on it if you look hard enough. Suprisingly enough though, no one has offered this special, which seems like a natural for the torrent network.

I'm hoping that some kind soul will take up this challenge and bring this excellent TV special to all of the hardcore fans out there. Since I am a power-seeder when it comes to the torrent, I would gladly help seed this special for days and days.

Well, if you have read this far, I thank you for listening to my heartfelt plea.

Episode III is the last one
Time
I know, he keeps saying that...

...but something tells me he's a liar.

I also think he doesn't want to take the focus off his current projects.

I remember seeing am interview with Lucas in his private study. Behind him setting the scene was a bookshelf filled many of the books you would expect George Lucas to have. (Cambell, etc..)

Upon seeing the books in GL's library, a friend and I thought it would be interesting to still frame and zoom in on the book titles, just to see what George was reading.

Among the volumes was a recently published book called what else?

Telling Lies.

I think THIS may be the book in question.

So you never know what the future holds.

I also remember reading a post over at Episode-X that was an excellent collection of "Lucas Quotes" regarding the matter. He's actually said quite about the subject. (I wish I had saved that post.) He's actually said enough to make me think he's lying.

If I could read his mind right now, I would say that his hubris is telling him that the Star Wars TV show will last 7 to 10 years. Then after that series has run it's course, and possibly after another couple of years worth of media silence, he will suddenly decide to fullfill his original promise of 9 films.

A trilogy of trilogies.

Who knows...

1997 SE LD

Yes, some of those battle sequences near the end are quite well done. There are a few shots I like in particular.

However, my reason for wanting the SE's is mainly because I want a complete catalog of GL's mania. Being a bit of a purist, this site was a blessing for me

Hey Rowman, thanks for the information. Sorry I didn't realize that my IM was turned off. I guess this explains why no one has returned my PM's. Stupid me.

I'd like to see some professional DVD versions of the Special Editions as well. If only to document the constant changes to the Star Wars Trilogy. With the additional changes to the commercial DVD's, now even the Special Editions are obsolete.

Can anyone recommend the best, currently available DVD version of the Special Editions?

STAR WARS: The Torrents thread
Time
Hello. I am new here and I just have a quick question. I have been downloading a set of SW DVD's on Suprnova.org. The torrent is titled, "Star Wars Ep 4 - A New Hope - PRE SE LD RIP." Is this the "anamorphic set" I have read so much about? Or is this the Tr47 set that is so highly praised?

Also, if anyone has this set, could you tell me if anything is missing?

I appologise for my ignorance. Please be kind. I have spent hours reading this site and I'm just a little bit confused.

Finally, is there a place where I might buy the MagnoliaFan Edits?

Thank you very much for your help And thanks for this great site! It's my new favorite, especially with the "New/Official" Dvd release looming. It just makes me want the original trilogy even more.

Good things to say about the PT!!
Time
The art direction and character design are incredible in both PT films.

The costumes are also top-notch.

I would also say that pretty much any scene with Palpatine is great. Ian's a fine actor who seems to be providing his own direction. Watching his perfomance in "Phantom," it makes me feel like he's almost in a different and better film then the rest of the cast.

I also sometimes think that the "Phantom Menace" is a great metaphor for America (and even the World's) current political climate. We all think we know who the "enemy" really is, but the truth may be worse than we can imagine.
