Something you all might enjoy... vintage style, custom made action figure cardbacks
Time

I found some hi-rez photos last night so I made some more cards. Most of the images were off a costuming site for Padme.

More on my website http://www.axia.ws/axia

I also created a wallpaper based on the idea that Padme was a Force-user and joined Anakin. It's avaliable in the wallpaper section on my website

i did a cut of the asteroid battle in AOTC, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VASUJhw-qOc&feature=channel_page, using a very quick cut from luke in an xwing from ANH of him presing a button to show obi wan pressing a button in his fighter.

it was more to experiment with the flow of the scene, because if it wasnt objectionable, then perhaps we could slip in filmed elements of our own, of hands doing stuff to illustrate things.

I found it very distracting. Its obviously lukes hand in an xwing. I do have to admit Im intrigued by you taking Boba out. I hate that he's a clone now. One of the few things in the PT that I can't stand.

I've seen comments from some rather knowledgeable people that the official 2006 Star Wars trilogy GOUT DVD's appear to have surprisingly accurate colors (no weird color alterations from the original appearance). So they could help a lot as a guide to color correction, setting proper original white points/white levels (I think that's what it's called), etc. in the HD broadcast of the 2004 versions. :)

wait, this cant be right. does anyone have the 2006 release? Were the colors restored to some normalcy?

"Now come on, which cockpit is more useful? Seems more logical."

First off, you are looking at a screen shot of the entire cockpit of the Jedi starfighter, and a zoomed in shot of one part of the X-Wing cockpit.

I couldn't possibly tell you what those knobs in the X-Wing cockpit were for, and even if the information explaining it to me was out there somewhere (probably is), I really couldn't care less to bother looking it up to find out. The whole point is to look high tech and alien. I think that was well accomplished. Why be bothered by the tape deck? When the movie was made the prop guys certainly didn't dream people would ever have the ability to freeze frame and capture images with such detail they'd be able to see what it is. It just there to add more detail to the cockpit. It is a movie, a work of fiction. It is filled with props and sets, actors and puppets. None of it is real. So what, the prop guys used a cassette player to add flare to the cockpit. Why should that bother you or distract you in anyway while watching the film?

Becuase its a frigging tape deck, a common easy to identify item, you might as well have put a blender in there. Its distracting.

"as far as the fancy CG HUD display serving no purpose, that just seems silly. I think you are probably just saying that becuase you dont like them."

I meant it serves no purpose having an CG HUD, because you don't need one, all that is done with the fancy glowing displays can be done with real hardwired displays. The best purpose it serves is to make the SW universe look like it is taking massive leaps backwards in science and technology, when twenty years ago the standard were holo display screens, and in the future they are knobs and lights. Not even the fancy Imperial Star Destroyers have the fancy displays their earlier generation models had. That is just silly.

Its all about the state of the galaxy at the two times. The galaxy is being oppressed at the time of the OT. Its not being oppressed at the timne of the PT. Holographic technology is available in the OT its just not as readilly available. Its too expensive for the rebels to use for everything and its not in tiefighters becuase they are massed produced and expendable, just like their soldiers.

And again, the whole glare thing. I shudder to think.

Im sorry my mockup bothered you so much but window glare just makes sense, it exists in reality and was glad of its presence in the PT and it should be added to the OT IMO.

Also, what happens if your ship gets damaged to a degree where your holo projectors (or whatever they are called) go off line. Oops! My controls disapeared!! You've got steering and that is probably about it.

Yes well they are being flown by Jedi, most would be just fine without them.

You are right, I don't like the Jedi Starfighter. For a sci-fi ship it is cool enough, but it just doesn't feel like a Star Wars ship to me. I always loved the SW ships and would do everything I could to find detailed pictures of the models and diagrams of the ships when I was a kid. I'd even pull out pencil and paper and draw out blueprints for my own SW style ships. They had a really unique look and feel to them compared to many other sci-fi ships. The flashing lights and knobs really worked great, reminded me much more of real airplane cockpits, only more alien.  The PT ships don't. They are just your generic sci-fi rocketships. All a bunch of wedges with fins.

Umm you mean like the design brilliance of a Star Destroyer? A large triangle if I recall. A tie fighter? A ball and a couple fins. An Xwing? An x and a tube. The Falcon? A circle and some flanges. You get my point. Dont get me wrong. I love the OT design, The first Jedi Starfighter put in mind of a Star Destroyer immediately so it reminded me of the OT. I loved it.

Get a class room full a little kids, and ask them all to use their imagination and draw a picture of a spaceship, I'd bet you 80% of the kids would draw wedge shaped ships with fins. Nothing wrong with the PT ships being finned wedges really, it just comes off as very unimaginative to me. The most interesting ships in the PT to me are the Naboo Fighter and the podracers, and maybe Darth Maul's ship. And the little fighters Obi-Wan and Anakin are in at the beginning of ROTS with the ion engines, (though with things like buzz droids in the scene, and CG clone troopers, it is hard to admire the ships in peace for very long).

The updated Jedi Starfighter in ROTS is my favorite starfighter design in the entire Saga. I LOVE that ship. I also really like the Naboo Starfighter. Not sure whats wrong with Buzz droids and the CG fighters look so much better than models. All one has to do is look at the comparisons between the original Xwings and the SE Xwings to clearly see that.

None of the other ships in the PT strike me as anything more than more of the same.

well at least you saved a shitload of money buying Star Wars toys. Me all I got was cvontinued enjoyment of the best films of all time.

I think I might have played against you in Call of Duty 4. How often are you on that game?

Not very often and I havent played that game online in quite a while, there are however several Darths that I know of on Xbox Live. I go by Darth Axia... come to think of it my Brother in law was over a couple of weeks ago and he was playing on my account. You may have been playing against him.

I have updated my card gallery featuring OT goodness.

I wanted to post more but finding hi-res OT images is a pain. If you have any that you can send me or direct me to on the web I would appreciate it. The images need to be 1800+ x 2700+ in order to look good on these cards. I make them this big so they can be printed out and look good as actual cardback for custom carded action figures.

My full gallery as well as the full rez versions of my latest cards are on my website.

Someone suggested that I post some of MY favorite cards. So here are some that I really like in an attempt to re-hijack this film from DBZ. (I also have never seen an episode, nor do I plan on it)

There are many more I like just as much or even more than these, but they are all pretty much on that page.

Okay so Ive decided to create an article on my website that will be an exhuastive look at all changes made to Star Wars since initial release. I thought I would start by watching the '77 release. Something that I have not done since the SE was released. All of which has nothing to do with what I am about to say. lol

However while watching Star Wars I noticed a continuity problem with the Xwing cockpit. There are two radically different cockpits of Luke's xwing seen in the film. Theres the version that has been posted here many times while he is flying. And then theres the one when he is getting in or out of the Xwing on the ground. Look at the center especially. Nothing like the one during inflight.

I just found that funny with all the talk about cockpits lately.

ohhh gee thanks for pointing that out, thats gonna bug the shit out of me for the rest of my life. By the way Jedi Starfighters dont have frigging tape decks. PT cockpits for ftw.

Why?  I'd much rather listen to music during my trench run if I had the opportunity!

Yeah me too. Much rather have some good tunes to listen to while fighting my battles than some fancy CG HUD displays that serves no purpose but to look pretty. Seems like the contrast of a glowing display with darkness of space outside your window would be horribly annoying. Seems like it would create a glare, and glares piss me off.  Give me dimply lit knobs and dials any day of the century.

First off let me state that I adore, worship and love the OT. Becuase this post may make seem like I dont. I really wish whoever pointed out the tapedeck thing had not done that. That is just so lame. I dont know who decided that would be a good idea to put in there at the time but Id slp him if he/she was in front of me now.

as far as the fancy CG HUD display serving no purpose, that just seems silly. I think you are probably just saying that becuase you dont like them. The displays in the Jedi Starfighter seem straightforward and lend them selves to logical deductions about what they could be for. The Xwing hud is just a bunch of shit glued together that makes no sense and doesnt seem to serve any purpose. The below pic is labeled based on my own conclusions.

Now come on, which cockpit is more useful? Seems more logical.

Star Wars Fate of the Jedi: Outcast, or Del Rey just is not trying anymore.

I don't believe they were a rehash of the prequels. Though that would not be a bad thing. I just agreed that comparisons could be drawn. Unfortunantly for you there is no escaping the prequels in the EU. Doesn't matter that those events (LotF) take place around 60 years after the prequels. It's all part of the same Saga.

I suggest you stop reading EU as I believe it is always going to dissapoint you now. Which makes me sad, I love to share my favorite hobby with people. You are looking for something that does not exist now and that's Star Wars minus the influence of the prequels.

I for one loved thier infulence on Star Wars in general and on LotF inparticular. I loved the machinations of Palpatine in the prequels and enjoyed the machinations present in LotF.
