The show has only two seasons left even if the actors take a significant pay cut, says Fox. You can moan and groan about how the show should have been taken off life support years ago, and I can spent my time agreeing with you, but deep down I'd always hoped that The Simpsons would be a show that got the chance to choose to end - conclusion or no - without studio meddling. Oh well.

I think it's a decision that Fox will learn to regret.

Whatever your thoughts over any perceived drop in quality the show has become an institution.

These things are a bugger to make a clean sweep from.

A very strong point, Bingo. What worries me most is if we'll get another Set MacFarlane crapfest on Sunday night primetime in its place... I know he's got his grubby hands on the Flinstones. Could that replace the Simpsons? Or will we get another one of his cookie-cutter shows?

The Simpsons was a big deal when is was in 8th grade,lol.

They have had so many seasons unless they graduate completely to features might as well be cancelled for good.

Officially uncanceled. I guess I'm not surprised. 2 more seasons for sure, which is 1 more than Fox was threatening they'd get even with the paycuts.

It is always entertaining when the rich fight the super rich.

Since they're like poetry, what with the rhyming and all, I find that I only need to watch three out of the six films.

This is true. Fox has never not had the Simpsons. Could it be they think it would unimaginable to not have it on?

Matt Groening and George Lucas are rather alike in many, many ways. Both are bearded left-leaning Hippie types who are oblivious fools in regard to the states of their respective franchises. The only real difference between them is that Lucas has absolute power over the franchise he spawned while Groening has ... well ... absolutely none over his.
