Jason and the Argonauts criterion laserdisc with ray harryhausen commentary any preservations?

cannot find any and i have rented the letterbox dvd and it is not the proper ratio.

the 1:33:1 of the criterion is closer to the o-neg ratio.

the criterion release has these features not found on the later dvd release which was not from criterion:

* Audio commentary by Ray Harryhausen and film historian Bruce Eder
* Animation tests from The Elementals, an unfinished Harryhausen film
* Theatrical trailers for Jason and the Argonauts and four other Harryhausen films
* Storyboards, sketches, lobby cards, casting notes and memos on deleted scenes
* Inside peeks at creating the special effects for the famous "Skeleton" and "Hydra" sequences.
* Exclusive close-up photos of Harryhausen models

this info comes straight form the criterion jacket insert according to laserdisc database:

About the transfer:

This exclusive new digital film to tape transfer was made from the best elements of the two existing archival interpositives. Ray Harryhausen was consulted during the transfer on how each scene should appear. For this edition Criterion has presented Jason in it's original 1.33:1 full frame aspect ratio.

also the final side was in CAV full feature instead of clv allowing still frame.

“Always loved Vader’s wordless self sacrifice. Another shitty, clueless, revision like Greedo and young Anakin’s ghost. What a fucking shame.” -Simon Pegg.

actually the film was shot in the academy ratio of 1:33:1 on spherical 35mm film and was presented in theaters in 1:85: 1 dynamation widescreen.

aspect ratio here is a matter of tastes but the full frame was on the criterion on harryhausen suggestion.

the dvd is 1:78:1 anamorphic widescreen. not letterbox i was wrong i looked it up.

real bare bones release though. i hear clash of the titans is getting a new clean transfer remastred for blu ray with all the bells and whistles, but no remaster for standard dvd.

i do own the pioneer special edition of the 7th voyage of sinbad it is oar 1:33:1 unlike the dvd and has an isolated score also not on the dvd.

i am going to have to drop serious cash to get the criterion release of jason, unless i can somehow get it for cheap.

the one problem reviewers have had with the criterion release is that the sound is in monaural and the feature was recorded in stereo which is very strange.

i have also read that the pioneer release was better in terms of picture but did not have the commentary.

updated top post, now I am wanting to try and get that commentary to add to my DVD.
I have the Criterion set. This is the first time I've heard of Jason having a stereo track. (I recall reading somewhere the original score masters were lost.) Could this be a recent remix?

I do know the Pioneer Special Editions of 7th Voyage of Sinbad and Mysterious Island boast stereo tracks, but the liner notes give no clue to their age. Actually, the music is in stereo, and all dialog and sound effects stay in the center channel.

Has anyone preserved the Harryhausen documentary "Aliens Monsters and Me"?

Where were you in '77?

I was looking into buying the Encore (PAL) LD a while back.
BBC engineers worked for 9 months to get this right. According to Ray Harryhausen, it is not a widescreen film.

Never found it at a decent price.

According to THIS, the Region 1 DVD also includes a 4:3 version (double-sided disc?)
