He is fantastic. His 'chat show' Knowing me, Knowing you, used to have me rolling around on the floor pissing myself laughing! The mans a genius.
Steve does try to make him as real as possible. When Alan's 'auto-biography' came out (One of the greatest pieces of sustained comedy writing ever created btw) Steve toured bookshops all over doing signings, giving interviews and reading extracts all in character. Coogan is the Daniel Day-Lewis of comedy actors.

^ You can see Ewan McGregor giddy with excitement to be in the same studio as Alan Partridge in this clip.

...being a Star Wars fan is the act of waiting for technology to finally get to the point where the PT can be unwatched.
I DID MY BEST!!!
*sob*
He said the 'PT'...not the 'RT' (Ridiculous Trilogy).
Star Wars Episode XXX: Erica Strikes Back
If you want Nice, go to France
Well, I don't want the RT unwatched...

Surely that entails some kind of memory erase technology? Damn! If only we were all droids ;)

It's called "bleach"!
Bleach?...
I hear it makes you forget about the prequels when ya drink it.
Shit it's been a while since I watched the Plinkett reviews :)

Somewhat ironic that this will eventually happen using the same digital technology that Lucas pioneered to erase the OT.
Might take Adywan and a few more years for home editing/FX tech to advance but we will get a point where nobody will need (Or want) to ever watch the theatrical PT anymore.
I'm already there, now I've completed my own edits to my satisfaction of the PT. I can't forsee ever taking the three PT Blu-Rays out of my Saga Boxset ever again.

Spotted this, pretty badass conversion job...

You've completed your own edits of the PT to your satisfaction? That's very admirable Ryan. I, for one, will never own any version of 'that' trilogy so long as I draw breath. They're an absolute train wreck. No amount of editing can redeem it. None. ;)

Interested to know. What is the single worst thing (Or things) for you about the PT?

Well, off the top of my head ill give you three Ryan.
1. Lucas's whole idea and vision of Vaders and Obi Wans backstory
2. The shameless shoehorning of OT characters (3PO, R2, Chewy)
3. The dreadful continuity between it and the OT.
The only things I like about the PT is the design of the pod racers (the vehicles, not the drivers) and that Ian McDiarmid returned as Palpatine.
Both were ruined in execution. But cool ideas on paper.

1. Absolutly. Obi-Wan should have started Ep.1 as cocky young Jedi adventuring round the galaxy and he bumps into slightly younger Podracing kid. Much bro-mance and high-adventure ensues
2. Chewie didn't need to be there. But if you watch the films in crono order as GL intended it doesn't feel like R2 and threeps are shoehorned in. Bit odd that Anakin created 3po but thats a different issue. A kid now who watches them for the first time isn't gonna know who the droids are anyway.
3. Yes continuity is ridiculous. GL must have been doing it on purpose. There is no reason in the world why Bail shouldn't have been a King instead of a senator.
For me it's the seperation of Anakin and Obi-Wan across the 3 films that is the unfixable part. No amount of fan editing can fix the fact that in the first two films they probably spend about 15-20 mins together. It felt obvious to me that the extended buddy action at the start of ROTS was to try and undo this damage.
If I could change one thing, it would be having the Neimodeans shoot Qui-Gon Gin in the back of the head during the first 5 minutes of TPM. Every other problem in the PT can be traced back to his presence.

Agree with you Ryan. Personally, I would have liked to have seen the PT be 'The Adventures of Obi Wan Kenobi' and Anakin as a background character who slowly comes to prominence as the trilogy progressed. The romance should've been a love triangle between Obi Wan, Anakin and Padme, and..I'll stop there because I can feel all the old disappointments and bad memories rising to the surface lol
I don't think there's enough backstory for 3 prequels. Should've just been one movie.
If you ask me, Anakin should be a similar character to Han Solo in OT (cool, likeable, funny, confident, sarcastic). He shouldn't have any stupid love/family problems and absolutely no short temper, whining, complaining, jealousy and so on. His fall should be simply because of his long involvement into the war. Perhaps he should have been the type of person who would prefer effectiveness and winning to moral/ethical decisions. Similar to Raven's fall in KOTOR.

^ Yes I said somewhere else that Han would join the darkside in an instant if he had to. It's the quick and easy path.

Seeing as though this is being discussed, I will bullet point what I wanted from the PT and thought would've made it a far more engaging story.
1. Adventures of Obi-Wan Kenobi. Ben is a swashbuckling, charismatic rogue type Jedi who is the latest to have been trained by Yoda.
2. Anakin as an old teenager Ben encounters on Correlia who displays brilliant piloting skills helping him out of a scrape whilst on an adventure. (Force skills)
3. Jedi Order far more reclusive and no where near as dogmatic. Also numbering no more than 20.
4. Love triangle between Ben, Anakin, Padme.
5. Clones as Enemies of the Republic from the start. Also, they're clones of extinct evil alien races thought to have been long gone. Not Boba fetts dad (Boba doesn't appear at all)
6. The army of the republic being human conscripts.
7. Palpatine as a conspiring member of the military/Sith Lord.
8. No droids (3PO and R2) protocol droids and R2 units are present here and there but not those 2 until episode III where they are seen on Alderaan.
9. Palpatines secret apprentice being the villain throughout the trilogy who is killed by Anakin in episode III.
therell be those who think its a load of crap, but I think the basics for a far more engaging trilogy are there.
