DOCTOR WHO- THE FIVE DOCTORS- EXTENDED EDITION (Released)

Howdy Guys!!!

This is part fan edit, and part restoration. A while ago, a friend gave me a DVD. This DVD contained a backed up copy of a VHS. The original VHS contained a fan edit of Doctor Who: The Five Doctors- Extended Edition. He made it using footage from other episodes, in order to put Tom Baker in a story, that he wasn’t meant to be in. This was very clever. Unfortunately, the VHS became lost, and therefore, this is probably the last copy of it.
Now, Fan Film Fixes want to remake this edit, but we need some help. We need to get hold of some episodes.
These episodes need to be in a digital format, backed up from VHS.
If you can help, then please email me at dannochance@yahoo.co.uk and I shall send you a list of the episodes we need.

Thanks,

Dan

Any chance you could just post the list here? Would make it easier for passing readers to quickly check their collections...

Yeah, the Five Doctors seriously needs some Tom Baker. Be neat to see if done well.

Just posted a similarly-themed but sillier project ....

Arc of Infinity was posted to alt.binaries.drwho last week.
The others may be available on torrents somewhere (see this thread).

I don't have any of these, however the tapes look to be cheap on ebay. If you are not happy with the quality of the versions currently available, I can probably help out in capping, processing and encoding some rips for you.

I cant use torrents. I dont have a way of getting VHS onto DVD. LOL

Hopefully I'll get them somehow. I may just send out copies of the low res version. Anyone interested?

And, like I posted on the other thread, I am already making my own version of The Ten Doctors,

So how does the plot change with these new elements? Or should I say, what is the new plot?

The plot wouldn't change if you added Tom Baker to the story .... you'd have the same story just with more Fourth Doctor. Which is a good thing. Sad that he didn't do that one but DID do Dimensions in Time ...

Out of interest, I downloaded Arc of Infinity off the newsgroup. It's a VHS rip encoded to DivX 3, about 300MB per episode.

Watched the first episode last night on an MPEG-4 compatible DVD player. Black level was too high and there was some pretty bad ghosting, but quality was generally OK. If you need certain scenes let me know and I can extract them for you.

Interesting to see Peter Davison and Colin Baker together!

Hey Guys!

I thought it was time that I updated you on this project. I shall be putting the original version online in several weeks. It shall be in its 25 minute parts, in AVI files.

I'll post the links as soon as they are available,

"This was a two-part skit produced for the BBC's annual Children in Need telethon and later expanded to include a second episode during the popular light entertainment show "Noel's House Party" the following day."

Could be Tom has a big Heart?

little side story:

I used to work for an AM radio station in New Jersey {WCTC 1450 AM} in the early 80's as a part time Polka Show engineer {I joke not}after high school for Bernie Goydish {and I'm not Polish...}, and one day into the studio walks Patrick {Dr. Who #2} Troughton! Well I was a huge fan of Dr. Who from PBS, so I was like "WOW"! *Drewl*

He was there to do an interview on a local show, as he was going to be at Creation Comic Convention later that day in Princeton (35 min. South}. Well as he was doing the show, I ran home so fast and got my copy of...

for a Sig {And I did get it right over a full color full page photo of him!}.

Well the fun part of the story is that I got to drive him to Princeton in my mom's car. The poorly organized people he was with had too much stuff in their cars, and I offered my car for use, not knowing it was going to transport Doctor Who! It was just the two of us talking about all kinds of stupid shit.. He liked working with Donner {I had to ask him} and he was just so NICE! I was just some nobody kid, and he was so joyful a person to respect me as he did.
He was so happy that people loved him and his work. No joke or cliche. I could see that "pride in work" in the man. He was older and I could tell not in the best of health, but not from his manner nor whit. I'm sorry, but all this is just coming back to me now {sings: Memories… Memoooories… } and the man should be remembered for being so kind to his fans! In a way it was very much like that Chris Farley with Paul McCartney skit on SNL.
{NOTE: I’ve never met Chris Farley with Paul McCartney, or Chris Farley or Paul McCartney alone. ;-} But I would like to meet Paul}

I hope you don't mind me sharing that with you guys.

Very nice. Trout was one of the best.

Hmm.

Seem to have downloaded 81.9 megs of this edit, then the download cut off. I think the file is incomplete, as it shuts off after the taking of Jon Pertwee, and there's just blank space after.

I got somebody to test the download for me, and its working fine.

Could it be cos its on RS? Do you have a premium account? If not, email me at fanfilmfixes@hotmail.co.uk and I'll send you the direct link.

How interesting that I should come across this via Google - I am the one who created the original edit you are talking about. The original thread announcing it was posted over at the old Outpost Gallifrey site ran by Shaun Lyon.

I no longer have a VHS of this and when I checked out the link it said it had been deleted by Rapidshare due to a lack of downloads.

However the good news is that I have created an even better version than that old VHS effort!

Taken from the BBC DVDs, I have included footage from State of Decay to incorporate Tom Baker into the story. I have edited The Five Doctors as a five-part story and have included some specially created shots. A full set of production notes for all five episodes is also available over at my Fan Edit site - WHOFLIX. Go to

www.whoflix.wordpress.com

and look under the tab for Dr 5 to find The Five Doctors!

Nice that you found us Whoflix.

Personally I think there is enough of Tom's Shada to create a proper Tom plot which could tie in with the existing The Five Doctors material.

Rassilon features heavily in both stories and the bike chase would make for better footage for the Time Scoop than the truncated punting scene (which deserves being played out in full).

This is still my favorite version though.

Part One.

Part Two.

No-one will ever top Farmergeddon! I think it`s him that`s working on the new FX for Day of the Daleks...

Hmmm... good idea. I may work on that when Shada comes out on DVD!
