As far as I know it’s always been SD only.
I’ve compared and the original widescreen LD is a different mix but the BD audio isn’t too far off in places. It may be a matter of the matrixing of the 70mm audio making it harder to distinguish as there is quite a lot of dialogue leakage to the rear channels.
So TCM or anyone else hasn’t broadcast the 1925 in HD at all?
Honestly, even though I own the BD release which I typed I own, I’d need to read more about the restoration. I know it received a 6K or higher remaster from 70mm with a 4K output (2.76:1 aspect ratio!), which looks completely stunning on the Blu-ray disc, but clueless on what master was used for the audio. Even if said audio is DTS-HD Master Audio 5.1 on the BD. Glad it’s spread over 2 BD50s and also has an isolated music score (in Dolby Digital 2.0 Surround).
Interesting why I love this movie so much it’s due to the fact it’s an Epic and worth watching, even though I’m an Atheist. Better to have a greater appreciation for cinema compared to having it conflict with personal beliefs.
Will this be two BD25s or two BD50s?
