I’m looking forward to seeing it. I actually think TFA is not as good as I first thought, because while the acting and directing is spot on, the plot doesn’t make sense. Han, Leia and Luke go back to doing what they were doing before Star Wars, which basically means everything they had achieved at the end of Return of the Jedi was undone.
This is another review that while not epic like Mr. Plinkett, I thought made a lot of good points.

The overall thing with George Lucas is that he needs to be used in moderation. Too much Lucas and you end up with the prequels. But too little Lucas and you end up with garbage like the Holiday Special or a missed opportunity like the Force Awakens.
Empire of course was just the right amount of Lucas influence with enough collaboration from others as well.

Luke was working on a moisture farm in TFA? I didn’t catch that scene in any of my 12 viewings of the film.

Ugh no.

It’s called “character development.” Things happen to people and they change.

JEDIT: At this point in his career, any Lucas is too much.

I would say some of the acting is actually really bad. Ford had some very awkward movements. Though to his defence, some of the dialogue/situations were just embarrassing to begin with.

TFA is essentially just a huge parasite leaching OT in any way it can. This applies to storyline, characters, concepts, ideas, sets, designs, etc. In essence it is just an example of how OT could end up being bad.

A solid response: http://birthmoviesdeath.com/2016/10/04/hoth-white-why-diversity-matters-in-star-wars

He said the diversity, no matter why or how, is a good thing. And when he says “in a weird way I think Star Wars has always been immune to the whole ‘race and gender’ thing.”, He’s right. Kids of all colors and races have always loved Star Wars despite the mostly white cast. He’s not saying "All the characters should be white and diversity is stupid."
And in the “sex” part, he’s clearly talking about romance.
I don’t see what there is to be angry about.

TFA is like a bad modified Chinese copy of a good German car. Despite having a very bad performance, one might even enjoy the first ride, but then it soon breaks down.

My thoughts exactly.

Just what we needed around here almost a year later, a new TFA kvetching thread.

The article isn’t saying he isn’t saying those things. It’s deeper than that. Plinkett says that no kid cares about diversity and the article proves him wrong. As for the sex the article points out the complaint is simply bizarre and notes the hypocrisy in wishing TFA was closer to the OT in this regard.

And I don’t think anyone is angry?

His acting in TFA is head and shoulders above the phoned in performance he gave in ROTJ.

It’s fruitless trying to establish a dialogue with Ayn Rand’s reincarnation. He never let facts get in the way of The Truth™.

The Plinkett character’s opinions on movies and Star Wars are that of his creator. He initially did the voice because he didn’t think people would care if it was just him ranting for an hour. Obviously he’s no murderer.

Right, but it goes both ways. People who cite him as support for how Star Wars has ruined cinema as well as those who write 100 page rebuttals to the knit-picking are both fooled.

108 pages? Who in their right minds would spend the time to read this?

Actually, better question: Who in their right mind would think anybody in their right mind would even consider reading this?

No one. Which is why they made this movie instead: http://originaltrilogy.com/topic/The-Prequels-Strike-Back-A-Fans-Journey/id/51336

Quite the opposite. It even makes his acting in ROTJ look good.

Ford 1983 v Ford 2015 is a cripple fight. He sucks in both movies.
