I’ve gotten to the main fight between Obi and Ani and I’m really stumped for anything new to do here. Other than cutting out as much as possible in order to keep in brief, I don’t have any good ideas for how to make it worthwhile.

Here’s a continuous clip of the various pieces for reference. (start at about 2:00)

Any ideas?

Maybe there’s something good in here.

Ooh, interesting idea! And I happen to own it.

I could remove all the ROTS audio and replace entirely with that audio, so the music wouldn’t be a problem, and the sword noises might sound funny in a lightsaber fight. The only issue I see is the dialogue, which works great, but there’s nowhere to put it - i.e. there’s no dialogue in the SW fight so no lip sync to use.

Maybe at this point they can both just be thinking at each other?

You could just drop the dialogue in a scene where you can’t see their faces well enough to see if they’re actually talking.

Possibly, they certainly spin around enough that I might be able to hide it that way.

I ripped my Princess Bride DVD and the result is even better than I hoped - sfx and dialogue are alone in the C channel, while music is restricted to L-R.

I don’t know if i have any ideas, and the ones i have probably will be hard to do, but:

when they start spinning their light-sabers around really fast, it always sounded like a helicopter to me, and it would be pretty fitting if they took off into the air a bit

there must be something that could be done with the force kicks that anikin gives Obiwan, perhaps have him bounce back like he was tied to anikin (like a paddle ball?)

Nice job! The timing is perfect throughout. 😃

You totally nailed it!

I think you need to keep some of the original background sound effects if possible.

You might consider using the duel music from the Spaceballs soundtrack for the Yoda/Palpatine duel. 😃

Not possible, as it’s completely tied in with the original music.

With that said, I can always add sound effects back in that sound like the originals. Which ones do you think I should keep?

That’s what I thought. The background sounds of the lava (if they were present in the scene) and sounds of the control room. You can probably lift them from another scene without music?

I came across this last night, sound effects from nearly every SW video game!

Yeah this guy’s stuff is really useful, and when it comes to lightsaber fights, check this out: http://www.sounds-resource.com/pc_computer/starwarstheforceunleashedultimatesithedition/

It has about every lightsaber sound you could think of and more.

These both look really useful. I do own a few PC Star Wars games, including the Tie vs X-Wing and the Dark Forces ones. I might try to put some of these sounds into the fight to punch up the sfx a little.

Works for me. What’s the music cue when the shields go down?
