Decent results, not seamless. I don’t think the technology is ready for replacing an actor across an entire movie (yet). And the face can’t be high resolution (yet) so it doesn’t look real on closeups and HD video. But it could be useful in certain instances, like holograms and characters not too close to the camera.

Not sure if the puppet face would look good in a CGI character, but worth a try. Really like the idea for Palpatine.
Agreed, particularly for the ESB hologram scene (though it’d be nice if he looked more ROTJ-like in ROTS, too, I suppose).
Wait, the ESB hologram, really? Ady already did that?
And he did a very good job with what he had available to him at the time, but it’s still rather stiff and photograph-y (though it’s my preferred version of the scene by far). I’m mostly just curious to see how well this would work in comparison.
Here’s an idea. Since the software replaces the entire face you don’t have to be limited to existing footage. Based on the dialogue you want you could film an actor (or yourself) miming the words in a McDiarmid way and moving your face how you want (less stiff). Then you replace that stand in face with McDiarmid. For best results the stand in face needs to be similar in structure to McDiarmid, lit in the way it is in the movie, and perhaps including the cloak/hood.
