At this point I have no choice but to assume embarrassing ignorance or malevolence on the part of any person older than 15 that supports President Trump or thinks that he is not completely full of shit.

There are things he has done that I think were good, others were a mixed bag, and some bad. I personally know people who aren’t embarrassingly ignorant nor malevolent that support him. Many of them discount the crazier things he says and/or does.

Many of his supporters believe that his twitter rants are just an act to draw the media’s attention away from the ‘serious’ work of his administration.
That gives him way to much credit of course.

But that is how it ends up working, intended or not. The media spending so much time critiquing tweets means less time critiquing policies. And the critiques of the tweets can be very easily dismissed as fluff. Leaving very little observable media criticism of Trump for those who dismiss that stuff out of hand.
It’s also how it worked during the campaign. Nobody knew a single one of his policies, and 46% of the country thought that was a wonderful thing.
