As the conventional wisdom — and the Upshot’s cool model — now swings slightly back toward Jones again, it’s worth remembering that making extrapolations based on partial returns is a lot harder in a state like Alabama where we aren’t used to having competitive elections. That why models like the Upshot’s have wide confidence intervals (conveying a lot of uncertainty) and why you should be cautious about getting too far ahead of the story.

Jones is behind by about 6,000 votes with 81 percent reporting, but almost all the areas that are still outstanding are good for him. That’s probably enough to make him the favorite, but Jefferson County’s tally so far is very favorable to Jones. It’s possible there are still a lot of outstanding GOP precincts there. You’d rather be Jones right now, but it’s still too close to call.

Hahahaha, just checked in on the three major cable new networks. CNN and MSNBC are all election results. Fox News is showing the Laura Ingraham show, where she is currently discussing “The Plot to Take Down President Trump.”

Folks, Jones is the favorite here. Moore can win, but Jones is clearly the favorite.

And as soon as I said that, Fox News broke in and called it for Jones!

CNN has called it too. NBC is being a bit stubborn.

Great job Alabama. I had my doubts, but you actually chose a Democrat over a child molester.

Yes but it was still too close a race. Someone like Moore shouldn’t be able to get anywhere near close to being a elected to the US Senate.

Wow. That’s good news. I’m honestly shocked.

2017 dude, and someone who objected to removal of segregationist language from a state constitution has just barely lost being elected to the US Senate.

That’s not surprising at all. The Bible Belt hasn’t changed much.

Well I wish it would.

Yep. It’s the current year and lots of people are still cruel and backward. It’s thoroughly upsetting, but 2017 is just a number.
