Majoras Mask is a work of art. It’s such a psychological game. I’ve never had a game effect me on a subconscious level the way this game does. Every time I play it it’s almost like it channels all the feelings of existential dread I have on a daily basis and helps me contain them. And the song of healing is perfectly named and also perfectly utiliLized and placed throughout the game in ways that actually release a feeling of healing to me.

I like to think of Termina as a place like Oz. It might be real, it might not be, but everything in it is definitely a direct analogue to Link’s subconscious mind. I think it’s a vague, immaterial hub that molds itself based on who is there.

I think hyrule hystoria says it’s real, but I definitely agree that the events of the game are heavily centered on links subconscious. But how much is fun to think about. Did getting turned into a deli scrub send him on some sort of psychedelic trip? Did he even get turned into a scrub? Did he really even go on this important quest or is he a craY person wandering around termina freaking people out? Or were most of the events of the game real but his interactions with people and some of the more dark and disturbing points just a result of a skewed interpretation of the events because of links deteriorating mental state? I find the last one to be most interesting, as it makes link still be a hero but also shows how greatly things can be attributed to personal interpretation and how events effect people differently.

Idk. This conversation has inspired me to replay OOT and MM back to back so I’ll probably post a novel about my interpretations once I do that. I like to think that the events are real but the look of reality is based on imagery from his mind.

Yeah that’s a better worded explanation of what I prefer. I recommend playing them on emulators with good texture packs.

Right now I play them on the Wii VC with a classic controller, although the controller is shaped a lot differently than most classic controllers. The gameplay is to my knowledge completely identical to the n64 versions but not having the n64 controller takes some getting used to for me. My computer at the moment struggles with emulators.

If the OOT 3ds remaster were for the Wii I’d have bought it in a heartbeat.

Me too. I have no interest whatsoever in handhelds but an updated oot would be amazing.

Did Majora’s Mask get a 3ds update? I saw screencaps from something that looked like it, but that might’ve been a mod.

Maybe I ought to play Ocarina of Time and Majora’s Mask to finally see what all the hype it has generated since it must be babys first Zelda game. Maybe the N64 or 3DS version through emulators. No, I don’t regret not playing it when it was released when I was a teenager at all. Really don’t care if I play with mods or not when I eventually procrastinate to.

Still playing ASSASSIN’S CREED III and EMPIRE: TOTAL WAT. Replaying 1997 Westwood Studios BLADE RUNNER for PC. Not entirely sure if I’ve gotten all the endings yet. Would be great if there were another BLADE RUNNER game, maybe released by CDProjekt RED, but they have Cyberpunk 2077 forthcoming. No, certainly not from TellTale either.

EMPIRE: TOTAL WAT (sic) is just babys (sic) first total wat (sic) game.

I never understand what RayRogers is saying.

I know he likes to talk about his age in relation to things as if him being slightly older than a quarter of the forum members means something. No idea why, though.

To answer your question yes majoras mask got a 3ds update. But I hate handhelds so I’m stuck with the n64 version.

But yeah oot and mm are generally considered to be the height of video gaming in general so I’m sure RayRogers will find them to be overrated.

Btw A Link to the Past was my first Zelda game, since that apparently matters.

He seemed stunned that people in the 20-25 year-old range would have grown up playing video games that are 15-20 years old.

Just ignore him, he’s being a redacted.

Well, I was 20 years old when Ocarina of Time was released. And my first Zelda game was The Legend of Zelda, which I played when I was 8 or 9 years old—being that it didn’t exist before then. However my parents also played it extensively into the wee hours of the morning back then. And I have played every release of every Zelda game for every set top console, with the exception of those on WiiU. This means that I own four legit copies of Ocarina of Time, not counting the 3D remake.

Why that matters, I don’t know.

Actually, I have a baby, and her first Zelda game was Breath of the Wild.

Right. “Babys first Zelda game” depends on the baby. My “babys first Zelda game” will be one that has yet to even come out. Or maybe it’ll even be the first one. Or Wind Waker. Or whatever one it happens to play first. Who knows?
