To troll y’all.
To troll y’all.
Is that from the Stargate reboot? 😛
Where were you in '77?
WHY?!?!?!
Because you’re a sexist, racist and you live in the past. At least that’s what most people say to any criticism of the new STD
TOS
TAS
TNG
DS9
VOY
ENT
STD
They really didn’t think that new show title through long enough did they?

Well, if enough fan fears turn out justified, perhaps it’ll be a fitting acronym.

That’s not the acronym they’re using. If they were they’d all be like this:
STT
STT
STT
STD
STV
STE
STD
It’s DSC.

What.
Hate to double post but this is definitely worth a peek. Seth McFarlane has apparently been working on a new live action series:
Uh, did they just rip off Galaxy Quest?
And that building at the 2 minute mark is about 15 miles down the 101 freeway from me. 😉
Well, it’s not a show about actors of a 70a/80s scifi series who are beamed into space by aliens who think these actors are real space adventurers. So, no, they didn’t.
To me the trailer for The Orville looks far more exciting than the trailer for Discovery.

That’s the social media response to any form of criticism of the trailer(s) and the new show. You’re not excited about the cast? That means you hate women, or black women, or asian women, which means you’re a a sexist and/or a racist. You dare to criticise how the trailer looks like? That means you’re a nerd and/or you live in the past. (Or my favourite - you don’t like that it looks like the JJ movies? That means you want the show to be filmed in SD, 4:3, with paper walks and toys on strings - like any of that except the 4:3 aspect ration was true for any previous Trek).
And my absolute favourite reaction - when a guy wrote under a youtube video that he doesn’t want to pay for CBS All Access to be able to watch it, some crazy bitch started to accuse him that he’s a Donald Trump supporter who hates women and racist, because his “real reason” is not money but the fact that the lead is a black woman.
WHY?!?!?!
Hahaha, why does he look like Oscar Isaac as Apocolyse?

People are often narrow-minded sons of bitches who’d rather argue against strawmen of their own creation than deal with the actual arguments put forth by their opponents.
That’s the only answer I can give.
I’ve been considering seeing Star Trek Beyond, as I’ve heard its more in the mold of classic Trek than ST ‘09 & STID. Now, I still haven’t seen the prior two movies and still don’t plan to. Can this movie be viewed as a standalone film, or is it too mired in the continuity of Abrams’ films?

COFFEE’S GUIDE ON EVERYTHING YOU ACTUALLY NEED TO KNOW BEFORE WATCHING BEYOND
•Kirk’s dad was a starship captian, but died.
•Spock Prime was living in the Abramsverse for a while, and everyone knew it…that’s it iirc.

Also, the planet Vulcan was destroyed in the first film, making Vulcans a rare race, the remnants of which are trying to restart their species on a New Vulcan colony. Oh, and Spock and Uhura have been dating.
They’re not super important, but there are things that won’t make sense if you don’t know them.

The funny thing is that the previous 2 movies were just action and nothing else, but the best parts of the third movie are scenes were people are just talking to another, which are usually the most boring parts of movies. And the only thing (except the points written above) I would recommend to do is checking online which actor plays which character

I mean, once you’re watching it, it’s pretty clear, isn’t it? There’s a black woman, a Russian guy, a Scottish guy, an Asian guy, a Vulcan, a grumpy guy and the Captain.
Trekmovie.com interviewed Nicholas Meyer. Here are some interesting bits.
Meyer : One thing that has nothing to do with Discovery is that I am working on another Star Trek project, but I can’t discuss that either.
TrekMovie: Are we talking more feature film because as far as I know, there is only one television project, I assume.
Meyer: You can assume.
So, did I understand it correctly? Nicholas Meyer is working on ANOTHER STAR TREK PROJECT right now??? I hope it’s not just a Blu-ray release of a director’s cut of Star Trek 6, so maybe he got assigned for the new Star Trek movie? Or is CBS working on another TV show?

Everything you need to know going into this one is established in Trek '09. IMO, if you can’t stomach watching that film, you shouldn’t bother with Beyond.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Oh and they blew up the Enterprise at the end of STID. I almost forgot about that.

That’s not relevant at all, since it gets repaired before that film is over.
I completely forgot they blew up the Enterprise in STID. Shows what that film has going for it.
and I completely forgot that they got it repaired…
Hoo boy, STID was a mess.
Well, to be perfectly accurate, it didn’t actually blow up, it just got badly damaged.
