Okay, cool kids who do the twitter thing, depending on which way the wind is blowing tomorrow, who do we tweet a response at? Disney, Lucasfilm, or both?
I’m thinking of saving the open letter thing for the actual 40th anniversary next month.

@ both of them and say something to the effect of:

“Celebrating the 40th anniversary of 1977’s Star Wars would mean something if we could actually watch it.”

It’s short, it’s sweet, I like it! 😃

That LucasFilm logo keeps getting smaller and smaller in these videos…

True, lol.
Wasn’t it smaller in Rogue One, too?

Just like the odds that the OOT will be announced get smaller with every hour.

I’m gonna be surprised like I won the lottery if this really happens.

The odds are no smaller now than at the time of the sale in 2012. If there’s no announcement by the end of the weekend, though, different story.

Why? If they’re going to announce it, it’s going to be at SWCO.

Here’s my line of thinking:

The GOUT was announced in early-mid May. If May 15th comes and goes and we still haven’t heard anything, we go with SilverWook’s idea of a more formal letter to the powers-that-be and send/post it on May 25th.

SWCO is the place to do it, but I’d rather be thinking it won’t happen and it does, than the other way around. I don’t know about anyone else, but I easily overhype myself and I’d rather minimize past experiences.

With MSW track record and them claiming the validity of an OOT release likely this year, I can see it’s likely, but I just have this bad feeling that it’ll be the crash and burn if I expect it.

I mean, it’s interesting that they’re opening the convention with this instead of a TLJ panel, right???

An official unaltered restoration on blu-ray would be a pretty big deal, there’s no denying it. Maybe not quite as big of a deal as when the “Chewie, we’re home” trailer dropped, but for a significant percentage of fans this would be something they’ve waited more than a decade for.

How can I watch this again? Youtube?

yes, there will be a link on the front page at starwars.com

Regarding a poster: everything that’s not by Drew Struzan will be a disappointment. I still don’t understand how they were able to drop the ball on the TFA poster. Sad.

It was the worst poster in the history of posters, maybe ever.

And I have great posters, the best posters.

Gosh, I don’t love the main TFA poster but I do really admire the composition! I cannot for the life of me think why Disney doesn’t commission Struzan to create at least an alternate (to the photoshopped official one) “main” style poster, they’ve got the money.

For all we know it might have been Struzan’s decision. After all “the suits” in Hollywood were the reason he quit the business.

Do they make the streams public on YouTube right after they’ve aired live? Will be missing the live stream today, but hope to be able to watch it once I get home.

Either way, can’t wait to refresh this thread in a few hours…

I do think I remember reading somewhere that Struzan said he didn’t want to be the main poster guy again in this new era. He’s more or less retired now, isn’t he? I thought that TFA D23 poster was the first thing he’d done in a few years.

Anyway, this one by Phil Noto is still far and away my favorite TFA poster:

And to get back on topic, I’m giving up the idea that anything related to a new release of the OT will be announced at Celebration if they don’t mention it at this first panel. It would make absolutely no sense to do it at any other time, so if we haven’t heard anything by 12:30 today, I’m going to stop worrying about it and focus on enjoying the TLJ stuff.

The panels are usually available within a few hours, and they also rerun them on the live stream after the day’s last event. If there’s a trailer, that’ll be available immediately after the panel. I’m going to at least be able to listen to the audio at work, so I’m thankful for that.
