I can see what you mean, actually. Very odd looking at it with that in mind!
Something that’s always irked me is how this shot is static:
We’re about to be introduced to our lead characters and the camera isn’t doing anything? Not anymore!
Fantastic job!
I’ve always thought that the prequels cinematography was kind of Boring.

Wow! This is nice Snooker, and I agree with you Paja. This would be an interesting technique to implement throughout those films if the digital zoom was pretty subtle like this is. But, I think digital zoom is used occasionally in the films so it wouldn’t really feel out of place.
I thought it was a pretty pointless change, but Paja made me reconsider. I wonder is his claim true?, or is it just our perception being skewed by the boring content in all those damn talk scenes? Especially the tedious amount of them in RotS. You know the ones.
Strategically placed slow zooms and subtle pans can work wonders for some shots like this one.
You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

Sure, why not.

Here’s a New Recolor. I recolored the droid to look like C-3PO, Recolor Obi-wan’s Rob, And Re-Rotoscoped The Lightsabers.

I really enjoy your mockups paja. Out of curiosity, how much time does it usually take you to do one of these? Or, just one thing, like the droid, for example?
For the Droid. 3 Minutes. For the Whole thing. 10 Minutes - 1 Hour.

I don’t know if you have done any already, but I think it would be cool for you to try this with something in a video clip, even if it just was one or two seconds.
I’ll see what i can do!

You probably already know this, but I’ve found that if you keyframe and shape the mask at the beginning and end of the shot, and then one in the middle, and one in between each of those three points, and so on and so forth, the program automatically gets pretty close to where it needs to be. Then it becomes a matter of going through frame by frame and adjusting it. When I first started rotoscoping I just went frame by frame which was really time consuming, and when I learned this I realized how much time I wasted. Sorry if I’m being redundant but this might be useful to you or someone else on here.

I really like that, TPM is often too static, it would be a worthy addition to create more dynamic shots (a 4K edition of the movies would allow it without even losing much quality). It’s funny that Lucas tried to incorporate this kind of camera movement on the 2011 edition of RotJ (when the droids get to Jabba’s palace front door).

Most people think that’s a boring way to introduce the main characters, but imagine if Lucas had gone with his original idea:

This would explain the slightly empty right hand side.
I always thought that the ORIGINAL deleted opening scene from Phantom, while strange, would be interesting to see on screen.
Would there be a way to remove Anakin’s point of view throughout the prequels, keeping the narrative through the eyes of Obi-Wan (or maybe Obi-Wan and Padme), and maintain a solid story? With the idea being that we only see Anakin’s fall through the eyes of the people closest to him.
I feel like if we don’t actually see Palpatine’s “I’m evil” scenes, the turn would be completely out of nowhere.
I think it might be possible.
I think I may have an answer. Just came across this.
Here’s a hypothetical opening to a Tarantino/Japanese inspired 3-in-1:

I stole the dialogue from The Blackened Mantle.

Wow. I really like that. It actually took me a moment to figure out why the scene felt so different. Removing/changing the music really worked wonders for making the scene more emotional. I assume you added all the sound effects and foley yourself? It sounds great, either way.
Yep. Had to foley the whole thing. Thanks for the encouragement!
