I thought the new hangar matte behind the three talking guys stands out as a little too crisp compared to the actors in the foreground. But it is certainly better than the original.

Other than that, I think the changes (at least as far as I’ve seen) are fantastic. Favorite is definitely the enhanced screens in Echo Base. Hardest to notice unless you know to look for it is the Dagobah matte when Yoda lifts the X-Wing. It 100% looks like it was always there.

JEDIT:
What’s the reason for the pink bacta?

Agreed, it seems to be even more sharp than the actors. It should be blurred/grained up a little bit. But definitely better than the bad matte painting from before!

I watched this side-by-side with the 35mm version, and was surprised by how cropped/zoomed the BD version is. For example, the shot of Obi-wan and Yoda “that boy is our last hope”, in the BD/Revisited, Obi-wan is partially cropped out, but is fully in frame in the 35mm.

I went into this without much knowledge of the edits, and was excited by what I saw. I watched it to see what I noticed in real time. Harrison no longer mouthing Carrie’s line, that made me smile. I never noticed the Rogue 2/Rogue 3 discrepancy before, but now I always will…

I was very happy to see Luke underneath the AT-AT when it blows up and falls over, that always bugged me.

I look forward to ROTJ Revisited, where every Imperial officer won’t have the same rank insignia. That was super sloppy.

Unfortunately I can’t watch it. I’ve tried everything to see it, but it won’t let me. If someone could PM me, I’ll explain further.

That was a Revisited change, because if you look at the original shot Obi-Wan is about a foot tall.

I made a few screenshot comparisons from the first act. I can make more if anyone is interested.

Thanks for these! i scrubbed few a through scenes (haven’t had time to watch, busy busy work schedule right now), particularly the Wamap, but could hardly tell what might have been changed, as everything is so seamless. Excellent Job Adywan!

I get a good chuckle out of going back and forth between these two, would make a good gif movie i think 😉

Wow, that is so much better looking!

Oh, I see. Who’s to say non-corporeal Force apparitions have to be 1:1 scale? 😄

Oh my word, what a spectacular achievement, Ady! I take my hat off to you for a phenomenal job well done!

Loved the addition of troops being deployed from a couple of the AT-AT’s and the way that AT-ST got squished. Bravo! Also, I never anticipated the transports leaving to the left rather than the right like the preview clips from earlier. Thought that was a nice touch as there are two bay doors after all.

And I also loved seeing all those ships evacuating Cloud City in the background too.

And furthermore - thank you so much for including my name in the credits. I am beyond thrilled, my friend. 😃

After watching this, I’m already anticipating how much more of an improvement ANHR is going to when you re-revisit that movie. Wow, take a good long break, man - you’ve definitely earned it.

And lastly, did I spot an A-Wing at the end of the movie?! 😉

“Did you know, the word ‘gullible’ is not in the dictionary?! Look it up.”

I think he was going for an effect where the camera is focused on the background, leaving the foreground slightly blurred. That way, we focus on the transports to be loaded.

You probably don’t recognize me because of the red arm.

The attention to detail here is incredible.

Because this edit was too good to be true for me I just have to ask this question: Was there anything from TESB that didn’t get fixed?

Marvellous ! Revisited is so much better, I’m speechless.

Just a quick remark about the french subtitles: I wouldn’t translate “walkers” by “quadripodes impériaux”, especially since “bipodes impériaux” have now joined the party.

(and also I don’t like the bluray subs on which are based the french subs for revisited… just a question of taste, such as “dark vador” instead of “darth vader” that I cannot stand now… I’ll just synchronize my own ESB sub I made last year file to revisited 😃)

Just watched it. I wish I had something eloquent and well thought out to say. But all I can say is wow. Almost 10 years worth of work and it definitely shows. This is a beautiful work of art. I actually teared up quite a bit at the Revisited Credits and the dedication to your mum and dad. This is from now on my definitive ESB.

Here it is, August 14th, my 44th birthday, and I just finished watching ESB Revisited.
Not even going to comment on the quality, as I would simply be repeating what everyone else is saying.

Almost ten years ago, I had watched SW Revisited and was so impressed by Adywan’s dedication that I decided to send a large (for the time) 24" 16x9 monitor all the way from the US to England with the hopes that it would help him make the very best fan edit possible.

Ever since, I’ve been following this thread about once every month or two, just to keep up with his progress.

…and what an amazing thrill it is to see my name in the credits at the very end.

Thanks Adywan… here’s to ROTJ in 2027! 😃
