Both versions are fixed so everything available is current and fixed, at least as far as I know!

Just hatched an idea. And yes, it would involve an AI generated voice.
Okay so what is the current canon for force ghosts in Star Wars? TROS confused it.
As of ROTS I thought Qui-Gon was the only one who had any ability to persist after death and even then only vocally. Then, Yoda and Ben were able to go further than that under his tutelage. And then they sort of ‘helped’ Anakin become a Force ghost too. And idk, maybe could’ve helped any subsequent Jedi who didn’t know the tricks.
Then in TROS, we hear voices of many Jedi. (Implausibly though, only those the audience knows and not the thousands that lived since the ancient texts about communing with dead Jedi were written.)
Then, in Kenobi we see Qui-Gon’s ghost visually. But maybe he’d just taken a while to work it out; this isn’t as confusing as TROS.
So here’s the idea. It doesn’t totally solve things but helps.
Rey bemoans her difficulty following the Jedi texts’ instructions on communing with dead Jedi. We add a new line, “Luke wrote about it.” This cements the directions she is following within the lineage of Qui-Gon -> Yoda and Ben -> Luke.
The remaining issue would be Jedi whom were not privy to this speaking to Rey during the climax.
^ Agree.
Also, the Massassi temple on Yavin IV has lingering Force energy infused into it that sometimes has a mild rejuvenating effect on those whom the Force settles on as mystics or as messengers.
A cool interview with Hayden Christensen.
Yeah, there’s thousands of combinations of each variable and preference. I make everything available that I can for anyone wanting to create their own edits or merely modify or tweak mine.
By the way, the reason I didn’t use my logo at the start of the sequel trilogy edits is because the movie otherwise opens in silence.
Oh jeez, thanks! Yeah I’ll look at that too.
In both the purist and main version when it transitions out of the first deleted scene, the screen wipe is a little goofed up. It takes place around 6min 15sec
.
I’ll take care of that one too, lol.
TAS V9 has been fixed and reuploaded. Only the Large 1080p version was affected. Thank you for reporting the issues.
Thanks! You watched the ‘Max’ cut or whatever I called it? I think those will be the ones I show my kids.
I could kill FCPX with a rusty knife.
Thanks for letting me know. Shouldn’t be too bad to patch up, but I just don’t understand how that happens. Nothing’s even wrong at all in the timeline. But I’ve learned if I export just the clip in isolation I can import it as a clip and it’ll be fine.
Also, welcome! Also, thanks for the feedback!
Making some headway for the ROTS ‘max’ version(s). I tried the Padme AI line for “Obi-Wan is not any happier with this situation than we are,” and it just stands out as ADR’d when situated right between other Padme dialogue in that scene. I’m willing to field another shot, but I’m also okay with not making the change.
Also, anyone want to try again at some replacement line for 3PO instead of “I’m beginning to get the hang of this flying business”?
I think that is the only things left that I need from others at this point. (And if neither are forthcoming, it’s okay.)
When you make the purist version for Revenge of the Sith, have you thought about removing the General Grievous line to Obi-Wan “you fool! I’ve been trained in your Jedi arts by Count Dooku.” Seems like a weird thing to say to someone you’ve fought countless times during the Clone Wars.
That line has already been removed this whole time.
Dish looks great! Why remove that one shot?
Yes. Sorry, I must’ve forgotten to post about it here. Only the large 1080 P version had to be fixed, because the others are cropped anyway.
I do think I mistook your meaning a smidge about the droid factory thing. But I very much understood the recent ideas as ideas while the door seemed open.
But yes, I’m done with AOTC at this point. The only thing I’d be willing to do is remaster it with dramatically improved video sources, not affecting audio, subtitles, or anything else. And that’d have to seem worthwhile.
lol
And I’m cool with a little bit of humanity in the form of lightsaber getting caught on a robe. Things like that are fun and okay to me if they don’t affect the story.
Interesting ideas, all of them. However, I really need to be finished with the prequel trilogy. I heartily encourage anyone to do anything they like with my projects.
JJB, those reinstatings that you highlight were each deliberate, as of some time ago. I don’t have ready access to the decision-making process behind them, but that’s how the dust settled for those things. I’m pleased though that the only bad feedback was about not including something extra that was not part of the original movie. (For the droid factory, I’m content with it; I don’t wish to remain open forever on new ways to slice and dice various sequences and would prefer for this to crystalize as a final product.)
AOTC fan edits are dead. Long live AOTC fan edits.
Replace the films’ opening logos with the Disney+ helmet fanfare.
I’ll fix that. Thankfully it only affects the large 1080p version, since the other two are cropped anyway. The thin line at the top of the frame for that scene seems to be there from a prior version (finally exported ProRes when finished V8 and working in FCPX from here on out). So, only surefire way to fix it was to crop the image overall literally one line of pixels further.
I could probably make my own perfect edit sourcing from about three others
It’s the only way.
Fair point, and I guess those lines would be fine. The “fun begins” line was removed because it was an OT reference that doesn’t need to be there, but you’re right that people like it so that may let it win out for a ‘crowdpleaser’ alternate edit.
And by all means, please let me know about that music transition you find jarring.
I plan to simply plug that component in, in small part due to that actor supplying a voice line for Ascendant. Also it’s a big moment of the movie so for a purist sort of alternate cut I think it’s good to retain. Also to tie into Kenobi (show).
Sounds awesome!
Were you able to reinstate Obi-Wan’s line about Anakin potentially rivaling Master Yoda as a swordsman? Or was that too on the nose?
Didn’t seem at all necessary to me, so no I didn’t.
The ‘maximalist’ or ‘purist’ version of my AOTC edit is on its way up right now. (I may never be able to log into myspleen ever again from the looks of it, so that may not happen.)
Here are the changes made, starting from the main Hal9000 fan edit:
This version features subtitles, though does not feature a commentary track.
I do prefer Padme living regardless of whether Yoda fights, but I understand if that goes against the point of having a more conservative edit.
Don’t you worry, because I agree.
