The Black Sunday stuff is the best in my opinion. Nice find.
Recently I have noticed posts about replacing music in certain scenes in the PT with other/older scores by Williams (and other composers), and alot of replies suggesting scores to use, so I was inspired to create this thread, where we can compile a list of scores that could easily be used. (no recognizable themes etc.)
and without further ado, the "list"
1977: Black Sunday

1973: Images

Sample (The score was released recently in better quality than in this video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lp3HNRVsUXA
1978: The Fury
(This score has 2 releases: The original performance, and a re-arranged version by the London Symphony Orchestra)

You have some very good suggestions here.
Note that there has been a re-arrangement of the "Black Sunday" score in 2010.
You may find this wonderful score suitable for your list:
1999 Outcast (PC game)
Thank you for making this thread, fishmanlee. :)

This me-likey.
It's an awesome game, but the soundtrack is definitely one of the best parts of it. It was composed by Lennie Moore and performed by the Moscow Symphony Orchestra. It's very Star Wars-y at times, so it definitely contains some usable moments.
I've always said that with an orchestral re-arrangement (like cutter does, for instance), this theme of McCartney could be a good love/tender theme for soft scenes; specially considering that the first notes of the main melody are very Binary Sunset-like (listen to 0:05)

Then the song turns to an orchestration and melodies that couldn't function well in a Star Wars movie. But I'm of the idea that nothing is going to fit perfectly, everything that's not SW will need at least, some minimal arrangement/tweak, that's why I'd rather look for melodies instead of "finished" songs.
Greetings!

And this one....I can't even....wow.
i've sort of made a bastardised SWTOR soundtrack for personal listening, and some of it is quite good!
it is actually quite a nifty resource as far as it comprises of bastardised parts of existing music, all played in a consistent manner, so a fan-editor can essentially start using certain themes from the OT, that would sound just a tad different to avoid any direct connection.

It's really fantastic. You get hints of all the classic OT themes, while still having something unique. I love it. As if SWTOR didn't have ENOUGH things to make me love it.
my only gripe is that the companions have identical names and backstorys BUT i digress. there seem to be a few people claiming to have THE soundtrack, which seems dubious as your links refer me to music i havn't heard yet. also on mine some of the tracks are actually a bunch of seperate tracks clumped together. the thing is massive.
how good is that main theme? frickin awesome.
YES!!!! I knew TOR would have some awesome stuff. I'm going to crack open that soundtrack and do some rough cuts of the battle of geonosis, that and see if I can find a good theme for Dooku!

If you wanna good theme for Dooku, try Xizor's theme from Shadows of the Empire. Fits him perfectly.
not the whole thing, but the BALMORRA might be good. it sort has that mysterious/contradictory character vibe. i guess it depends what you are going for though exactly. bear in mind that this is a good example of a track with multiple themes inside it.

Only MMO I will or will ever play.
Anyone know which bits of music from the original trilogy weren't actually used in the final films? Here's what I can think of, though I don't know the track names:
Also, I'm correct in thinking that a lot of the stuff in the Forest Battle concert suite doesn't actually appear in the film, right?

- Binary Suns alternate
- Some Yoda training stuff
- Parts of the ESB duel
- The Luke's Lightsaber Construction scene (although obviously a lot of fan editors want to put this scene back in anyway)

I think you're right on all of those except the ESB duel.
I should probably check, but I thought some of the duel has no music, whereas the whole duel has music in the Black-and-White-Music-Only version that DJ and ABC did?
Also, there's an alternate Sail Barge Assault on the SE soundtrack release. Obviously, as it's the ROTJ soundtrack it won't sound as good as the others, and ABC's restored versions don't have this track, but it's something at least.
There is the unused Ice Planet Hoth.

I always thought this music was perfect for a rescored scene in TPM. It's from Two Steps from Hell, a music studio that specialises in the epic music you hear in movie trailers.
