Dark Jedi, is your newer version of BR released anywhere yet? I'd love to get that version you did with new menus.
Win
p.s. i downloaded, a month or so ago, what was supposed to be the orig thatrical release of BR on dvd, but it turned out to be the Criterion LD release. I've since purchased the original LD release, but my Pioneer CLD-704 is in storage in NYC. Someday i'll perfect my own release of this disc.
Citizen, is it at all possible to wrangle a copy of your version of 'On The Edge' from you? The version i have is crappy xvid, under 300meg..just not worth converting to dvd.
Lemme know, perhaps i have something you would want in return.
Ok, thanks for the offer. Hope it works out, love to see what you can come up with. I'd give it a whack myself, but my main pc is out of service at the moment. I normally use Pagemaker for cover work, but will have to teach myself Photoshop in the near future.
Thanks for the link, i will check that software out. I actually did check that thread about helpful links, but of course didnt see any mention if this program.
also have a cover question for anyone. I've seen folks post previews of artwork they have created, and wondered how this was done, Is there a template that creates a display like this:
OK, sounds like a plan to me, i'd be happy to upload to MySpleen. Always nice to give back something, as i've downloaded so many goodies from MySpleen over the last year or 2.
Dark Jedi, thanks so much for the reply. Maybe i'll grab the version on the newsgroups for the heck of it, until your NEW version gets a release. If u need it uploaded to www.myspleen.com, drop me a line.
I have a feeling your current NG version is better than what i grabbed from MySpleen some time ago.
The US theatrical cut i grabbed last nite has very cheesy menus, so i might just rip it and make better menus/chapters myself.
I also recenly grabbed both of the Blade Runner documentaries in xvid or divx format, and have made VCD's of them. Now i'm hoping to locate artwork for at least the BBC doc 'On The Edge Of Blade Runner', which is excellent.
Well, in response to the versions question, i grabbed this from www.avsforum.com, so i wouldnt have to type it. ;-)
American Theatrical Cut: - Decard voice-overs - No unicorn dream - happy ending
European Theatrical Cut (the version primarily available on home video until the Directors Cut): - Decard voice-overs - Extra snippets of violence - No unicorn dream - happy ending
Director's Cut: - No voice-overs - No extra snippets of violence - Unicorn dream - No happy ending
In reading the excellent book 'Future Noir: The Making Of Blade Runner' by Paul M. Sammon, i learned that the only diff between the US cut and the Int cut is approx 14 seconds of violence.
And of course the Work Print, which i've never seen, but have read about quite a bit.
Yeah, i watched it last nite on HDnet, very impressive. However, the criterion disc is the International cut, which is diff than the Directors cut shown on HDNET. I'd like to have good quality copies of each of the 3 easily obtained versions.
I cant wait for someone to post that hd version!! ;-)
Hi folks, just joined after reading for a bit. As far as Blade Runner goes, I have a criterion LD to DVD transfer, from Myspleen, and i just grabbed a dvd ofthe Embassy LD. This would be the orig us theatrical cut. It was posted in a newsgroup, just noticed it last nite.
Does nayone know if a cover exists anywhere for the us theatrical cut of BR? Or perhaps the excellent 'On The Edge Of Blade Runner' documentary?
thanks,
Win
p.s. I also noticed a DarkJedi criterion release in the newsgroups. Is this the same as what i grabbed from Myspleen, or is it possibly better?
Its being shown again as well. I watched the late showing last nite, and found the PQ damn good, considering the age of the print, etc. There are quite a few posts regarding the PQ over at the HD Programming area on www.avsforum.com
