I'm wondering how big a speed difference there is between the different torrent clients. I'm using Torrentstorm which I never hear anyone talk about but I've always liked it. I'm not sure if by using an older (I think) program if my downloads are going slower.

My impression has been that this project is about getting the best looking version of the films off the laserdiscs and then after that different people will make there own versions from the masters that fix garbage mattes, rotoscoping, and stuff like that but doing that is still pretty far along down the road.

I've never heard of turning off all the color before setting contrast and brightness but I'm going to try it out. Also it's important to turn sharpness or picture all the way off on your TV because it actually distorts the picture. The way I set my TV was using the THX thing and some THX blue filter glasses off their website which I got free with a t-shirt but you can also get by just paying $2 shipping. Do the instructions on the THX work just as well as the ones you gave? I've heard that the THX actually adjusts the picture for the movie you're watching and not a universal correct calibration. I also have always worried that there instructions for setting contrast is wrong. Anybody know about this?

So. Is the X0 project not actually being released but just a demonstration of how to do your own transfer. I thought mverta was already doing that. Why would I donate so that someone else can make their own great transfer for themselves?

Could this be the new “special edition”

“Lucas said he hadn’t yet committed to a precise schedule but hoped to have the first film ready for the 30th anniversary of the original “Star Wars” movie in 2007 and that he would then rerelease one “Star Wars” film per year in 3-D.”

I think the real problem with DanielB is that he doesn't realize he is being an asshole. In one thread he'll say somebody is ruining the original trilogy by making their DVD anamorphic and in the next he'll be normalish.

The reason that I bring up callibration is if one of your settings is messed up along the way it might look fine on your computer monitor but willl look messed up on people's TVs.

Once Moth3r's DVD comes out it would be farely easy for someone to change it to NTSC speed without losing the PAL resolution.

I think the Japanese transfer is better although the stars aren't as clear as the US version from those screenshots.

Zion, have you considered trying to get a copy of the Japanese laserdisc since the transfer was not brightened like the American. It would really help the picture quality if you didn't have to spend so much time trying to get the contrast balance right on a screwed up transfer when a good one is out there somewhere. I remember seeing someone post a screen of it and it looked better than the versions everyone on the board is working on without any corrections applied.

Are you sure about that. THX makes films so that all there films are on the same consistant color scale. The optimizer makes your set up good for all THX films. I sent an email to them to find out for sure.

Laserman, how do you do a convergence alignment? I calibrated my TV with the THX menu and blue filter glasses but don't know what this other thing is.

Mike, are you sure the stars are supposed to be as bright as you are making them, especially the one used in your favorite frames section.
