I need to see DOD a couple of more times to solidify it, but I’m confident it’ll remain my third favorite.

Sorry for being so late to reply, first time in a while I’ve logged in here. I honestly think TLC, KOTCS and DOD are pretty interchangable for me and that’s just how I’m feeling at the moment.

I hope Dial Of Destiny turns out good. I’m keeping my expectations low and in-check, but I get a feeling I’ll like it quite a bit.

TOD had some humor which helps to balance out the darker aspects.

I love how dark TOD gets. I far prefer a darker, grittier Indy movie to something overly cartoony and slapsticky as the latter two are.

I still enjoy TLC but for some reason I don’t enjoy it as much as the rest. It just feels very deja vu compared with the other three which are more unique, whereas TLC feels like Raiders 2.0 and amps up the comedy and slapstick to levels much higher than I’d like.

On topic with the series, do you usually watch the films in release order or with TOD before Raiders, thus in chronological order? I prefer watching them in release order, I just feel TOD works better watched after Raiders.

The criticism that Temple Of Doom is racist is so ridiculous and just another cheap shot people like to take at it.

Exactly. I always felt both movies were equally enjoyable, with lots of scares, laughs and creativity to make them entertaining, not to mention the excellent chemistry between the cast.

I wonder if I'm alone in liking Last Crusade the least, even with Skull in the mix? It's not bad but it just comes off as bland compared to the rest for me.

I mean generally sequels that get a lot of flack or generally go unnoticed. A lot of the time you get sequels that are overshadowed by the originals, which in some instances is understandable since the originals have the advantage of being fresh, but the sequel is still a good movie in it's own right that should get more props.

Who else remembers circa 1994/95 when the USA Network showed the Star Wars OT over the course of a weekend? I remember it being one of my earliest exposures to Star Wars (I was 7 and 8 during 1994/95 respectively) and it got me hugely into SW at that age. I have fond memories seeing the OT that time and when I got into SW and collected things like the toys and some books and magazines.

What are some sequels and prequels you feel are underrated and either get an undeserved negative reception or not enough recognition or credit? They don't have to be as good or better than the originals, just films you feel deserve a better reputation than what others typically make it out to be.

I am yet to be convinced of the existence of a fourth movie, I still have a couple of fanedits to check out. From what I've seen though, it's almost as if there are crappy CGI sequences that are deliberately crafted in such a way that they can't be edited out without leaving big holes.

A fourth movie exists ;)

On-topic, what's everyone favorite action sequence in the series? TOD's mine cart chase is easily mine.

No more absurd than other stunts in the series and especially some of the sillier moments in Crusade. It always baffles me how people go on about the inflatable raft but give a free pass to equally unrealistic and silly moments in the series.

Strange you should mention The Mummy films, this past weekend I actually mixed The Mummy films in with the Indy films. Had a lot of fun marathoning them together, The Mummy makes for a good companion piece to the Indy films.

Surely there's Indy fans here, being the other major Lucas property. One of my all-time favorite film series along with SW and I'm in a minority of fans who loves them all, even the much-hated Crystal Skull. How do you rank all four in order of preference? My ranking is probably quite controversial but it goes:

The Last Crusade

I think Raiders is the best in a lot of ways but I find TOD the most entertaining. TOD gets a ton of flack but I love it for the much darker, harsher tone and Horror elements of it, and it's many great setpieces and action. I actually like Last Crusade and Crystal Skull about the same and alternate on them, but I find lately I like KOTCS a little better. Last Crusade is great but too similar to Raiders and too jokey at times for my liking, but it's still awesome. I often feel alone in thinking all four are excellent.

Hey all, I’ve been registered here a while but never had a chance to post much due to work and other commitments in my life, but I had some free time now and decided to finally drop by here. Seems like a cool place 😃

Anyone own this book? It came out back in the 90s and I remember my Mom got it for me as a gift back then. It covers the original three Star Wars and Indiana Jones films and has tons of production stills and artwork along with storyboards and a lot of information detailing the production of all six movies, and other LucasFilm projects, too. Though obviously slightly outdated now it’s still an excellent book and comes highly recommended to any SW and IJ fan. It’s a very prized item in my collection.

Never noticed that. Next time I watch ROTJ I'll listen in. I never really pay attention to R2's beeps.
