Puggo GRANDE - 16mm restoration (Released)

Bonus DVD's were the 1993 masters.

All Laserdisc and home video releases before DVD were the 1981 version, when the "Episode IV A New Hope" title was added. Sound mixes have varied depending on what elements have been used. Ben Burtt did another mix just for home video in the mid 80's. Another home video sound mix was done in 1993, (the first official THX certified release) that incorporated elements from the 70mm mix.

But the DVD with the theatrical cut (which comes from the laserdisc master) doesn't have the Episode IV title.

That means either that the Laserdisc is the 1977 version, or that it's the 1981 version but they removed the title.

What is it of the 2?

edit: i also just saw, that the "R" in "rebel spies" in the opening text, is not capital (as in the 1981 version).

also:

"During the search of Mos Eisley for the droids, the stormtrooper's lines have been changed from "Alright, check this side of the street. The door's locked. Move on to the next one." to "Alright, check that side of the street. It's secure. Move on to the next one.""

In the DVD it's the first one.

So again, that suggests that the laserdisc is the 1977 version?

Info Wanted: 'Raintree County' (1957) - has any done a preservation?
Time

Hello.

I was wondering if anyone has any preservation DVDR for “Raintree County”.

The film hasn’t an official release and there are various sources of it in bootlegs etc…

There is this roadshow version too, which adds much more footage, but it seems the sources for that are problematic.

I’ve read that it was broadcasted in HD 1080i in HDnet Broadcast and it looked good.

Also I hear there is a laserdisc of it.

Does anyone have these sources?

I LOVE this film, and from what it seems we won’t see any official release (and hopefully a Bluray) soon, since it’s too expensive to restore as they say.

My thought exactly. Why support big scandalous corporation when smaller players do better on what you really want ?

yes!

it's really funny how a very small studio which doesn't have the economical means of the monster-companies, can do a job right!!

I wish that same team that made the Gulliver's Travels' restoration, had done the Beauty and the Beast one (and all the Disney Blurays).

I would be thrilled!

Thank you zeropc, but that seems like a rip of the DVD, with the wrong colors again unfortunately.

edit: well, actually it's an HDTV rip (see the abc logo)

Avatar_Emil, this hasn't been released yet, but when it does it deserves a purchase!

I fully support people that do their job right!

(By the way,did you see the latest Little Mermaid fiasco? The most major error is a switch of 2 cuts in Part of that world. Hehehe. It seems Disney can't do anything right lately, so the safest thing for me is to stop buying their Blurays)

Thank you very much monks for the welcome and I really really appreciate your efforts! I admire that you decided to do something like that.

By the way, i had seen somewhere a Bluray screenshot of someone that tried to match the original colors (from the ballroom scene), and he did an exceptional work. I would have to find it and post here.

edit: here it is:

oh, i wanted to ask: what is wrong with the audio? I have watched only the DVD (i mean besides the VHS and LD) and didn't notice anything. Isn't the Bluray audio good?

by the way, have you seen the new restoration that is being done in  "Gulliver's Travels" (1939) by a very small studio (with a forthcoming Bluray release)?

The result is OUTSTANDING!

I wish Disney would make restorations like these!

No change in aspect ratios, no grain removal, no change of colors!

These are people that respect the fans and the animation films from what it seems.

@zeropc

Wow!! Are you serious? can you post any screenshots? I would be very much interested in it!

preferably screenshots that match these, to compare:

Hi everyone. Based on this image sample, which version of the Blu-rays do you think has got the closer colour match from the original ?

Thanks to answer

Hello Monks!

First of all I have to say, Beauty and the Beast is my favourite filmof all time, and I was so frustrated on  Disney because it altered the colors radically!

So, i refuse to buy the Bluray, and I'm watching the film only from a LDrip i got from the net.

What LD rip do you have exactly?

I have one that is turned into a fullDVD (4.06GBs) with a menu.

By the way, that image sample, it seems someone has altered the colors of the Bluray screenshots, trying to match the original.

here's the original photo:

(The LD screenshots are mine, and they are coming from the LDrip I have)

By the way, I don't think it's a good idea to make a 3D bluray to 2D because the concepts are different.

In the 3d, the backgrounds are more blurry, so as to bring out the front.
