SE Trilogy on DVD coming this Fall
Time
This is a little offtopic, but who gave Lucas the right to mess with Episodes V & VI for the "special edition's" in the first place? Last time I checked V was directed by Irvin Kershner, and VI was directed by Richard Marquand(who is deceased). Granted is the fact that Georgie wrote the whole story and produced(etc. etc.), but he only directed IV. I'm curious as to what Kershner and Marquand(if he was still alive) would think about his tampering with the films to the extent he has. I don't know, but something about the whole aspect of going back and messing with films years after their release really irks me. A "director's cut" is one thing, but what Lucas is doing is just plain wrong in my view. He's taken it to a whole new level.

The official Reuters article -- which is what is circulating the web and newspapers, et al -- does not even mention anything about this being the SE release at all. To get that information, you have to go to theforce.net, TDB.com, or starwars.com (among others). But, after reading a Reuters article, how many people will actually go and do that? None. Practically none, that is. So no one really knows that what they're getting is the 1997 SE instead of the originals which is how they make it sound by referring to it as "the classic trilogy". This is going to mislead so many people.

Ah yes, deceiving the consumers. What a great strategy George!

I've got the original 'faces' trilogy in fullscreen that I bought years ago. However, with this sad news I will now be searching for a widescreen 'faces' set on eBay. I must have the originals in widescreen now.
