Looking great smudger!

Like szopman said above I do think it could use some trimming of the dialogue. Something I’d really like to see in the edit is less “smart Fennec -stupid Boba”. I hate that Fennec always has to talk him in the right direction. It just further drives the wedge in his past self being the most fearsome bounty hunter, when he constantly makes stupid moves. You should try removing Fennec talking Boba out of attacking Bane in that scene. Just have him make the smart decision of being more calculated when going against Bane, instead of external forces motivating him to be.

Good idea about the Fennec/Boba dialogue. I’ll see how it feels when I watch the full edit. I agree it makes Boba look weaker, but I like that it adds something to the Fennec-Boba relationship.

I agree that it would take a lot of Fennec/Boba’s relationship out, but I don’t think every moment of it needs to be removed. Just a few so it’s not like every time Boba has a plan, Fennec is right there to tell him why it’s no good or how she has a better idea. That’s one thing I disliked about the show. It felt like Boba was just kind of bumbling around with Fennec guiding him. He’s been a ruthless bounty hunter for so long, you’d think he’d have some level of assertion and confidence in his ideas. But in the show he’s very easily persuaded by everyone, especially Fennec.

I tried messing with that scene a bit just to visually show what I mean. The music obviously needs more fiddling with to line up properly. You could even leave in a few more back and forth shots I cut out to draw the suspension more.

The rancor rampage can actually be cut by having Boba v Bane be the climax. Then cutting to the Fennec assassination scene.

I like that, but logistically you’d need to keep Grogu on Tatooine otherwise there’s no existing reunion between him and Mando.

Technically you don’t really need to maintain Grogu on Taooine to have a Mando and Grogu reunion. CarboniteSolo give this idea for a sequence of events, what I think could work for the final:

-Have Din arrive and spend time talking with Ahsoka, Luke training Grogu, but omit the scene when Ahsoka talks about Grogu’s training being interrupted if he sees him.

-Luke asking Grogu if he wants the lightsaber or his friend’s gift.

-Then we see Din’s ship flying off the planet.

-The last scene is Grogu tapping on the glass and Din pushing the button to accelerate.

Plus, you could take the central lines of their reunion and paste somewhere in this footage, maybe in the scene where Din’s ship is flying off the planet.

This sequence is my next task. This week I’ve been cutting together the Tatooine finale and have managed to completely remove Grogu, Pelli and the Major-domo. The resulting cut is actually really good although the audio is going to be challenging!

Sounds amazing 😍

First cut coming in at the 3-hour mark, which is much longer than I would like. Annoyingly Mando’s trip to see Grogu completely derails the story, interferes with pacing and adds a huge chunk of time. I really wish they hadn’t used this series to reunite Mando and Grogu.

Sounds cool, it means 3.5h of fillers and messy stuff cut 😄

Dunno what’s your plan and if this idea helps but maybe yoy can cut all the twins/krrasantan thing from episodes 1-3 and introduce him with the scenes from chapter 4 where he beats up some people. It would spare us as well the miserable beating Boba got from him before 😄

Out of curiosity, how you are gonna treat the whole mototbike gang? 😉

About Grogu, maybe there’s some way of cutting him completely from the finale and leave the choice scene as the last scene/cliffhanger? This way, even when we see Mando abd Grogu together in the next episode, it will be just obvious the kid chose Mando, doesnt need to be shown on screen.

Anyway, Good luck with editing the finale 😉 if anyone can make this mess a coherent nice sequence, its you.

The motorbike gang have been vastly reduced. I’ve left in the recruitment scene in Mos Espa, but the chase scene has been completely cut, as has any reference to the Major’s majordomo… he flees the Mayor’s office and is never seen again!

I’ve kept the twins scenes in because they are tied to the Rancor and they do provide some valuable plot progression. I’ve dealt with Krrsantan by Boba offering him a job instead of releasing him, allowing me to cut his scene in the Catina.

Unfortunately you can’t have just Grogu’s choice scene because the choice is between the lightsaber and the beskar, which Mando needs to deliver.

Having watched the rough cut through, it does make a decent movie. Infinitely more watchable than the series itself. The difficult part is trying to make sense of Boba’s motivations.

So, you plan to remove the whole Groku/Mando/Ahsoka/Luke stuff?

JEDIT
3h movie sounds very ok I think. Nowadays, a lot of blockbusters reach 2h30-45min runtime so it’s okay.
Very interested to see how you edited Krrasantan thing 😄

No, the Luke/Grogu/Ashoka stuff will be there. I’d prefer it not to be, but it’s essential for the overarching story.
It will be trimmed to keep it more compact.

Sounds cool so far 😄

I think it’s your first edit where the goal is not only to reedit the stuff to make it one 2.5h film, but also to actually save the original story, make it just better, enjoyable and coherent (like Rise of Skywalker:Ascendant) 😉

I know I may be a pain with this aspect, but does it make sense (for now at least) to still make it (The Book of) Boba Fett - Episode I?

We don’t really know yet if they plan the 2nd season. So ot would be off to have only Episode I with nothing to follow.
Then, if someone wanna watch SW in chronological order, we have:
Star Wars Episode VI, then Mandalorian Episode I, Episode II and then Boba Episode I 😄
And after Mando s03, it 'll be Mandalorian Episode I, Episode II, Boba Episode I and again Mando Episode III. So it’s like jumping between episodes of different subserieses. Maybe for now it makes more sense to make this Mando Episode III? Or simply Star wars:The book of boba fett or more like A Star Wars Story thing?

Don’t wanna criticise or anything, just sharing some insights about the bigger picture. Who knows, maybe after Ahsoka, it will even make more sense to make all yhos post-RotJ movies Episodes 7,8,9,10 and so on.

My custom edit of smudge9's TCW Episode I
Time

So, I made for myself a custom, shorter version of the episode I of smudger9’s TCW. Basically, nothing radical, I just cut most of the the first 39min. I just consider those stories an uber boring filler and I always skipped after the crawl until Chrostopsis part. Just wanted to share here to see of others had a similar idea maybe 😉

So, I cut 20th Century Fox logo, the fanedit org logo (cause I wont post this edit of someone else’s fanedit there, although I left the fanedit claimer in the beginning)
and I left lucasfilm logo along with “Long time ago…”. I added some audio there from TCW 100th celebration video (though I still consider to leave it kust silence or adding the original audio there from the theatrical version).

I left the crawl as in smudger’s version, and after the Anakin approaching shot I cit directly to Grievous / Dooku conversation. The rest is unaltered Smudgers9s brillant work 😉

Here are the first minutes (since the rest is exact the same as smudger9 made it):
https://vimeo.com/manage/videos/675958497
Pass : tcw

I know that the transition to Grievous/Dooku scene may not be perfect but that’s all what I could have done with my skills. I still consider cuttinf the whole crawl and starting directly with Obi and Anakin on Chrostopsis though.

(…) FINALLY it feels like the worthy successor to the sequel trilogy and the Skywalker saga that it should have always been. Two years later than I should have been, I’m finally at peace with this movie.

Nothing more to add here.
Finally we got an enjoyable finale of the Star Wars Saga.
Btw, today I showed it to my dad (he never saw E9 before) and he s still not aware it was a fanedit 😄 During the ghosts scene he was like “oh, finally, there’s Yoda” 😄

Dark Empire: The Canon Edit - audio drama (released)
Time

Hello there!

DE Poster

As the title indicates, this project seeks to bring the Dark Empire audio drama closer to the current Star Wars canon by crafting Dark Empires: The Canon Edit.

The aim of this fanedit is to align the events of Dark Empire with the narrative established by the live-action films and series. It’s a reimagining that bridges the gap between the Original Trilogy and the Sequel Trilogy, setting the stage for Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker.

What to Expect?
How the Emperor Returned: This fanedit ties Palpatine’s resurrection in The Rise of Skywalker to the groundwork laid in Dark Empire. His essence transfer power is highlighted, and various of his other clone bodies are shown, making his return more plausible and consistent with the sequels.

New Force Powers: The story introduces advanced force abilities like the mentioned essence transfer, the Force storm, and Force projection, powers that resonate with what we see in the sequels.

A Darker Luke Skywalker: This version delves into Luke’s struggles with darkness, echoing themes explored further in The Last Jedi.

The Solo Legacy Reframed: One of the key changes is the removal of the Solo twins. Instead, the unborn child of Han and Leia is recontextualized as Ben Solo, aligning with the canon storyline.

This fanedit reimagines Dark Empire as a piece of the Star Wars cinematic universe, respecting the original work while ensuring it fits snugly into the galaxy far, far away.

It is a “labor of love” for fans who want to see the EU’s greatest stories find their place in the current cinematic canon.

The complete list of cuts and additions:

• Chapter 1
-I added “A long time ago…” (I borrowed it from Everest Production’s fan made LoT audio drama, the line was read by a voice actor who was imitating Palpatine’s voice, which I think fits well with this particular story);
-I trimmed the opening crawl (to avoid any mention of the Solo twins).

• Chapter 2
-I trimmed the dialogue between Luke and Leia (removed the mention of the twins and the future generation of the Jedi);
-the last scene was removed (as I felt it was too much out of character for Han to decline helping Lando).

• Chapter 3:
-I removed the entire first scene (as it had too many mentions of the twins, and, it was also a straight followup to the scene from chapter two I had removed);
-removed one mention of “the children” from another scene.

• Chapter 4:
No editing/changes needed, I left it as it was.

• Chapter 5:
I trimmed one dialogue, removing the mention of Mako being the one who had introduced Han to the smuggling business (as it contradicts Han’s origins presented in “Solo”).

• Chapter 6:
I cut the cringy dialogue of Luke and the Emperor from the first scene.

• Chapter 7:
Removed the mention of the Solo twins.

• Chapter 8:
No editing/changes needed, I left it as it was.

• Chapter 9:
-I removed the mention of the Solo twins in the opening scene;
-I decided to keep the line “you will train all my children” as it can be interpreted in a more general way (like in a “one day, if I have more children, you will train all of them” sense);
-I had to remove the last scene (too many mentions of the Solo twins and the “third child”);

I also added two scenes (trimmed and blended together) from “Empire’s End” #1, using them as an open-ending epilogue of the story. The scene foreshadows the Emperor’s return in Episode IX.
It provides an explanation of why Palpatine disappeared and stayed in the shadow during the next twenty years, setting up the events of TROS.
As he explains, Luke destroyed all his best clones, therefore he was forced to take one that was genetically unstable and is now in decay. He also says he will  journey to his “place of power” which, in the context of the Sequel Trilogy, can be interpreted as Exegol.

May the Force be with you!

The only characters that get two lines are Anakin, Yoda, Qui gon & Kanan, seems a tad excessive to give Sors two lines as well. I like the first line “we are all one through the Force” but the second one “as it carries us” is a bit awkward. So I’d say keep the cameo subtle with only the first line as to not mess with it too much.

I agree. Of course, its freaking awesome that this project reached the scale of having a cameo of someone who actually played in Star Wars, but still, I dont think ot deserves more than one short line. Like, c mon, Ahsoka or Mace Windu have one short line and why this person would have so many? 😉 i agree that the best would be a subtle cameo.
