Mando EP4: Return to Mandalore 4K [RELEASED]
Time

I’m really wondering how this fanedit will end up 😄

Maybe you could switch the first scene of the new chapter to somewhere in the beginning of the movie ? It’s a nice filler that shows well what are the mandalorians up to and how they use the stolen imperial starships.

I think it can be an enjoyable movie, you could trim a bit the 1st ep, leaving a bit of pirate stuff (it’s fun and its a nice opening for the later storyline with Mandos rescuing the capital), trim the 2nd ep, leave some bits of 3x03 (depending on how much impact it ll have on the whole story), trim heavily 3x04, trim considerably 3x05 and cut 95% of the 3x06. The 3x03 side story can serve well to make the pacing better, to fill some moments/time jumps between the quests 😉

Hahaha I just have realized that the whole Pirate plot from 3x05 will work the same even if u cut 3x01 stuff 🙈 it’s obvious that Mando would help the guy anyway 😉

Do you think it’d be possible to somehow cut Grogu from the story and move the whole Skywalker thing to the end ? So far, Grogu is just there for most of the time, not really doing anything 😅
The flashback with Jedi JarJar could be nicely included in the moment when Luke brings his memory back. Then, you could cut Like/Grogu story from the 3rd movie and replace it with for ex Dr Pershing/New Republic stuff (and finish it with the cliffhanger with Moff Gideon’s escape reveal).

Well, I think this episode can help the film feel much more choral (I was thinking it could give it some Rogue One vibes) if, as some say, you alternate parts of Pershing’s plot between those of Din and Bo-Katan. I admit that I was watching the chapter and thinking about your edits.

Ahaha same here, I was watching and wondering how smudger will edit it 😄

I definitely agree with the decisions you made so far about cutting stuff from the first two eps.

Regarding the whole Luke Skywalker / Grogu thing - wouldn’t be better maybe to end Ep III with a cliffhanger (Luke giving Grogu the choice) and then reveal the choice of Grogu in this one?

Or, alternatively - use all available Luke/Grogu/training scenes in Ep III to follow Grogu’s journey there, and then start Ep IV with Mando arriving on the planet and talking to Ahsoka and then cutting to Luke offering Grogu the choice?

It’s just that putting all the Luke/Grogu content as a prologue in this movie feels a little bit off to me, but on the other hand, we ll see what this season has to offer yet 😄

  • I’d like Ben to survive. I can make it so when Leia becomes one with the force, she basically gives Ben a second chance at life. But having him alive on Tatooine is currently beyond my abilities. If I can’t make that happen, then Ben accompanies Luke and Leia when Rey adopts herself into the Skywalker family. Alive or dead, he deserves to be present. (FX by jonh)

I’ll just copy paste what I wrote in another thread regarding the same topic:
I always thought the only way to keep Kylo alive would be to cut him completely from the big Exegol showdown and move his scene with “Han” to the end of the movie -an open, bitter-sweat ending. It could be the last scene of the movie or the scene before the Tattooine ending.

It’s like, he came back to the light, but where can he go now? How will he redeem himself?
I believe it’s way better than what we got in the movie (basically Vader 2.0).

To be honest, I’m not really sure how I’d be able to keep Ben alive. Like, sure, I could remove the shot of him keeling over; but without any more footage after that, I don’t think the movie would feel complete. That said, I think Movies Remastered might be doing something with keeping Kylo alive - I know he’s floated the idea before, at least - so you may want to look into his work if you’re interested in exploring that angle for the film!

As for the Reylo romance, I think I’m still leaning towards removing it, yes. But the way I have it mapped out, I still want to emphasize their connection and their relationship; I just won’t make that relationship explicitly romantic. I think it’s sort of a “best of both worlds” situation: people like me, who don’t see a romantic connection between them, don’t have an awkward kiss shoved into the film at the last minute; and people like you, who do see it that way, can infer that the romance is there - they just weren’t able to physically act on it before Kylo dies.

I always thought the only way to keep Kylo alive would be to cut him completely from the big Exegol showdown and move his scene with “Han” to the end of the movie (an open, bitter-sweat ending). It could be the last scene of the movie.

Andor EP1: Spark of Rebellion 4K [RELEASED]
Time

So, I finally finished watching the edit 😉 Great job!!

I think that in terms of having one coherent story, it was the easiest source material you got so far to work with 😉

I love what you did with it, I appreciate you polished the intro, it looks perfect now. I think it was a good decision to keep it 3h. Sometimes to make the story more coherent and have better pacing means to make it longer, let it breathe etc. There was just too much of really good stuff to keep, so it was a good decision to keep it. And of course, I like the reduced flashback (tho I’m one of those viewers that would just erase it completely 😄).

I just have one question - why didnt you use the classic ending credits style? You have always used it so far. Also, it was used in all cinematic Star Wars movies, so I was surprised when I didn’t see the blue letters on black background 😄

Overall, great job, as always. I’ll definitely include this in my every year SW marathons (I saw your TCW Episode I like 5 times already, Mando EP I two or three, the v1 one 😉 ). You changed a very good show into a damn good movie!

I still hasn’t finished watching (won’t be able to watch it all at once today) but I noticed one little thing that makes the opening text feel very off.

The first line is centered, while the other 3 paragraphs are to the left. Its a little detail maybe but it really “hit” my eyes and made it look very faneditish to me.

The written content itself and its pacing is great, not too long, not too short, more like “Solo”. But still, I really think the format has to be corrected 😉

Once I watch it all, I ll be able to share more insights 😉

Thanks for the feedback. I tried a number of different formats for the crawl - all centered, all left aligned, centred with left aligned. This is the one I thought looked the best. The idea is that the first line is a sort of subtitle to the film title. Then the following three paragraphs are the exposition. I guess I could just combine the first 2 lines and keep it all left aligned if it bothers more people.

I personally think the first line would look better left aligned, although I do like it being a separate paragraph for additional emphasis.

Also, there’s a typo in the text; the first line should say “it’s a dark time,” rather than “its”. Personally, though, I think it would look more Star Wars-y to get rid of the contraction completely: “It is a dark time for the galaxy.”

EDIT: There should also be a comma in the third sentence: “But as the oppression grows, pockets of resistance have started to form.”

Thanks for the input. Corrections made. I’ve gone for centred because the shorter line doesn’t look right with left allignment.

Now rendering new versions with this intro and the rogue frame removed.

Looks great

I checked again the bar scene and I think it looks fine, if I didnt know I wouldnt guess it was trimmed so much, I’d say it Looks natural. For me it looks like Andor was looking for some fun there, and when those two guys started to talk sh*t to him, he Just backed off, wanting to avoid any trouble.

About those Mon Mothma scenes - tbh, I didnt even notice that u cut that much, so probably it wasnt that important after all. I also think that the best, most important and interesting stuff with her was in later episodes, so I’d assume we will see more of her in the 2nd Episode (that part of the Season was so good that I kinda feel that your Episode II of Andor will be my favorite fanedit 9f yours 😄).

About the crawl - as Arabian said, it’d be better if it was trimmed. Also the 1st parapgraph seems a bit long and for me, it sounds pretty off. Too many adjectives/adverbs I think (but since Im not a native speaker, I wont be really able to help with any precise suggestions).

So, I’ve checked the workprint and I must say - very good work.
I like how you cut a lot of boring stuff from eps 1-3. Personally, I’d cut even more, but still, good job. You left what needed to be left, you cut what bothered me the most. I like the structure, the pacing is great, looks like an actual movie.

Also, I’ve been following your fanedit career since the first trailer of your TCW movie edit and I have to say that you improved a lot in terms of pacing and removing stuff. I love your ‘Army of the Republic’ but I always skip the first 35min cause it’s mostly a boring filler that could and should have been cut. Now, I think you mastered the art of sacrificing some scenes for better pacing and more coherent movie structure.

Anyway, great job as always 😉
Tbh, I wait more for the 2nd movie, that part of the season was just so epic ❤️ Can’t wait to see how you will deal with those episodes;)

After seeing what you did with “Andor” I really hope one day you’ll improve Obi-wan for us 😉

Just wanted to say I like your title a lot.
I always try to put a lot of thought into things like that, mine is a two-fer and I called my Ep1 “From a Dusty World to the Stars” becuase I liked the play on Stardust.

Thanks…… I’m struggling with the title to episode II.

Maybe use Episode 11’s title (Daughter of Ferrix)?

I’d love to see your edit 😉 wouldnt miss it 😉

I agree that the first arc should be heavily cut.

EDIT
Since we currently have The Mando, TBOBB, Obi-wan (which I have no doubt one day you ll touch as well 😄), Andor and Ahsoka on the way; maybe you’d reconsider dropping the “episodic” style and try to make them all more like “A Star Wars Story”? Or just to skip “Episode” in the title and then Just leave SW logo there and the title 9f the movie?
It d be more consistent 8 think. Cause if u do a chronological order, you have Episodes 1-3, Solo, Obi-wan, Andor Episodes 1-X (3-4, I imagine), RO, Episodes 4-6,Mando EP 1-3,then probably Ahsoka Episode I (what if its only one and thats it?), then Eps 7-9.
