Maybe some cool little voice-cameos of Din Djarin or Boba Fett? š
Maybe some cool little voice-cameos of Din Djarin or Boba Fett? š
I think it works pretty well. Iād definitely show this to someone not interested in watching Rebels (although they should, lol).
Personally Iād be interested in a movie (or miniseries?) focused on the Kenobi/Maul arc from Clone Wars and ending with this. It would be a cool way to include that stretch of story in a marathon viewing when you donāt have time to even watch Clone Wars Refocused.
In theory, it could work as a movie, basically the core of the whole story consists of 6 episodes of TCW and the epilogue from the Rebels. Itād be ~120-130 min long.
Are you going to delete the short scene where Gideon is tracking Mando and Grogu ? I think it just didnāt make any sense.
Very mediocre season but Iām sure your edit will make it much more enjoyable;)
In the end, youāre going to move the Luke Skywalker stuff to this film ? Or you re gonna leave it as a part of Ep III?
Leaving it in episode 3. Iām currently mulling over a radial change to EPs 2 and 3 to take out more Boba stuff and shuffle things around.
Are you able to give us any more info on the potential changes to episodes two and three?
Episode 2 is a bit of an issue because it now has some important story elements missing.
- Carson Tevaās interactions with Mando/Nevarro.
- The cloning facility on Nevarro.
- Elspeth Morgan and the Beskar spear.
These elements were cut to stick to a reasonable runtime and allow Lukeās appearance to be the finale. However, these elements have become very important.
My current thinking is to put these elements back into episode 2 and have the movie end on a cliffhanger with Gideonās capture of Grogu. (Like ESB).
The rescue can then be the opening of Episode 3 and the sudden decision to capture Pershing can be explained in the opening crawl. I will then cut Bobaās story down to a bare minimum and have episode three to focus on Mando and Grogu.
Groguās training scenes will be intercut with Mandoās journey. Mando will not travel to meet Grogu, Grogu will make his decision and then head off to find Mando. The main negative is that Lukeās first appearance begs to be the finale of a movie, not the end of the opening act, but this would allow all the important story beats to be included.
I know it may be a big change, but why not split season 2 into two movies?
2x07 is one of the best fillers ever in Star Wars franchise. So you could maybe make one movie that ends with Groguās capture and then another (a bit shorter) one that would end with Luke big finale?
Or, alternatively, you could make 1 film from 2x01-5 (cutting filler of course), intercutting the storylines of Mando, Ahsoka and Boba (using some flashbacks from TBOBF, like him starting to work with Fennec). Then the 2nd film would start with some good intense action (2x06) and its main theme could be rescuing Grogu.
I think s02 is totally worth 2 films (this way you can extend Ahsokaās stuff as well).
In the end, youāre going to move the Luke Skywalker stuff to this film ? Or you re gonna leave it as a part of Ep III?
So, knowing that probably some of the storylines will be continued in Ahsoka, and that eventually the whole āMandoverseā will have a theatrical movie conclusion (A Dave Filoni film announced lately), do you consider rebranding (or maybe even restructuring) this Mando film series into something that would later include Ahsoka fanedit movie and the mentioned Dave Filoniās epic crossover movie as well?
Or maybe just ārebrandā it into, I donāt know, just āStar Warsā movies with no crawl, or add some other subtitle for the series, like āHeir to the Empireā or something ? š
2h25min? In the end you saved more than I thought you would š
I guess we just got like 50min of useful footage for this edit š
The crawl is back ! š https://ew.com/movies/star-wars-crawl-rey-kathleen-kennedy-star-wars-celebration-interview/
Itās actually cool to have the Episode X, I always felt like they should have abandoned the idea of splitting the saga into trilogies. Itās a bit limitating, why not make 4-movies story or duology? Or why just not do good movies with a story to tell and not worry about of itās trilogy.
Obviously, they can label this film as they want but essentially itās going to be Ep X.
I hope it would be better than TROS and it would be a great epilogue to the saga that we all deserve š
I can already imagine all those fanedits that will add āEpisode Xā to the Rey film and the classic opening crawl š
Iām really wondering how this fanedit will end up š
Maybe you could switch the first scene of the new chapter to somewhere in the beginning of the movie ? Itās a nice filler that shows well what are the mandalorians up to and how they use the stolen imperial starships.
I think it can be an enjoyable movie, you could trim a bit the 1st ep, leaving a bit of pirate stuff (itās fun and its a nice opening for the later storyline with Mandos rescuing the capital), trim the 2nd ep, leave some bits of 3x03 (depending on how much impact it ll have on the whole story), trim heavily 3x04, trim considerably 3x05 and cut 95% of the 3x06. The 3x03 side story can serve well to make the pacing better, to fill some moments/time jumps between the quests š
Btw Isnāt Andor part II your tenth fanedit ? š
Can you reveal if you will make a lot of changes to the plot itself?
I may have said this before, but itās cool to see how you evolved as a faneditor š
Back in the day, during your TCW project, you would keep a lot of unnecessary stuff, or connect two stories that, story wise, donāt really have much in common.
Here, you really try to build a well structured film with a nice pacing and coherent story š
Hahaha I just have realized that the whole Pirate plot from 3x05 will work the same even if u cut 3x01 stuff š itās obvious that Mando would help the guy anyway š
Do you think itād be possible to somehow cut Grogu from the story and move the whole Skywalker thing to the end ? So far, Grogu is just there for most of the time, not really doing anything š
The flashback with Jedi JarJar could be nicely included in the moment when Luke brings his memory back. Then, you could cut Like/Grogu story from the 3rd movie and replace it with for ex Dr Pershing/New Republic stuff (and finish it with the cliffhanger with Moff Gideonās escape reveal).
Uff, this season doesnāt make it easy for you in terms of editing š
Maybe itās time to consider making it two episodes?
Looks terrific !!
Yes š and episode 1 has been done too. Iāll update those files this weekend too.

Just out of curiosity - will you use those classic black-blue SW ending credits ? š
Just tinkering with the artwork. The logo needs to be changed to āThe Reckoningā. Which of the images do people prefer. There were no decent concept art images of the second half of the season, so I had to put some together myself from screencaps.
The 1st one !
Well, I think this episode can help the film feel much more choral (I was thinking it could give it some Rogue One vibes) if, as some say, you alternate parts of Pershingās plot between those of Din and Bo-Katan. I admit that I was watching the chapter and thinking about your edits.
Ahaha same here, I was watching and wondering how smudger will edit it š
I definitely agree with the decisions you made so far about cutting stuff from the first two eps.
Regarding the whole Luke Skywalker / Grogu thing - wouldnāt be better maybe to end Ep III with a cliffhanger (Luke giving Grogu the choice) and then reveal the choice of Grogu in this one?
Or, alternatively - use all available Luke/Grogu/training scenes in Ep III to follow Groguās journey there, and then start Ep IV with Mando arriving on the planet and talking to Ahsoka and then cutting to Luke offering Grogu the choice?
Itās just that putting all the Luke/Grogu content as a prologue in this movie feels a little bit off to me, but on the other hand, we ll see what this season has to offer yet š
- Iād like Ben to survive. I can make it so when Leia becomes one with the force, she basically gives Ben a second chance at life. But having him alive on Tatooine is currently beyond my abilities. If I canāt make that happen, then Ben accompanies Luke and Leia when Rey adopts herself into the Skywalker family. Alive or dead, he deserves to be present. (FX by jonh)
Iāll just copy paste what I wrote in another thread regarding the same topic:
I always thought the only way to keep Kylo alive would be to cut him completely from the big Exegol showdown and move his scene with āHanā to the end of the movie -an open, bitter-sweat ending. It could be the last scene of the movie or the scene before the Tattooine ending.
Itās like, he came back to the light, but where can he go now? How will he redeem himself?
I believe itās way better than what we got in the movie (basically Vader 2.0).
To be honest, Iām not really sure how Iād be able to keep Ben alive. Like, sure, I could remove the shot of him keeling over; but without any more footage after that, I donāt think the movie would feel complete. That said, I think Movies Remastered might be doing something with keeping Kylo alive - I know heās floated the idea before, at least - so you may want to look into his work if youāre interested in exploring that angle for the film!
As for the Reylo romance, I think Iām still leaning towards removing it, yes. But the way I have it mapped out, I still want to emphasize their connection and their relationship; I just wonāt make that relationship explicitly romantic. I think itās sort of a ābest of both worldsā situation: people like me, who donāt see a romantic connection between them, donāt have an awkward kiss shoved into the film at the last minute; and people like you, who do see it that way, can infer that the romance is there - they just werenāt able to physically act on it before Kylo dies.
