I'm not absolutely certain, but with the BDP-83, it might be a simple matter of it being limited to the FAT32 files system and as a result can't read the relatively large 15gig file. This is true of most BD players. The 93/103 can support the NTSF system, I believe, which can handle files of that size.
The latest build of VLC doesn't seem to handle 720p video files on my underpowered laptop, either. Switched over to PotPlayer to view it. Plays it fine, better than anything else I have, but the interface is not exactly to my liking. Does the job, though, I guess.
Might be one situation where a super-resolution filter might clean up the edges, even if it can't restore any real detail.

I think the green tint in the desert, especially the early shots with the droids, is party due to them using a green/grey filter to achieve a day for night/twilight effect, when filming at those times wasn't practical, isn't it? There's a whole mix of brightness conditions that aren't consistent for advancing day, depending on when they were able to film (sometimes in the bright of day with the cameras' iris almost completely stopped down, producing the odd glaring, somewhat blurry, unfocused effect.).
In the SE's one or more of the replaced sandcrawler shots shows it almost being twilight/ nightfall. A bit strange, because when they get to the farm it actually appears brighter and earlier, again. I guess they could have gone through a night period, then day and arrived at the farm almost a whole day later, but it's not obvious..
Ah, gotcha. I'm not too technically oriented, so I'm not exactly sure of what goes into making this. :/
If one is going to create an MKV file, it might be nice to go ahead and break it into 4GB chunks and create a simple playlist file; this way people can put them on flash media and plug them into compatible displays or hardware media players, without encountering the file system limitations often inherent. Saves a lot of hassle.
