Hiya folks!
I grew up in the 90s and my family had the box set VHSs where each movie had a bunch of BTS footage roll before the beginning of the movie. Most of the time when I was a kid, I would fast forward through it, but gradually I started to watch it and get enraptured with the magic of movie making. What I didn’t fully comprehend was that in this particular showcase, they were celebrating the addition of all the new digital CGI into the original films, which I maybe thought was cool at the time, but now I get so upset about it. It didn’t age particularly well technologically, and even though maybe storytelling-wise it expanded the world a bit, I find myself now just wanting to see how the original crew created all of the effects practically, which is much more exciting for me nowadays.
Along with watching these VHSs as a kid, when the early 2000’s came around and I watched the BTS special features on the Lord of the Rings DVDs, I became pretty set on becoming a filmmaker, and that’s what I do today for a living. So, thanks for that, Star Wars.
I’ve recently dived into watching the Clone Wars animated series (2D and 3D), which led me to finding more gravity in the emotional and political world-building of the prequel Star Wars films (instead of just meme content like Ive been used to lately). Eventually I stumbled upon the new docu-series “Lights & Magic” about ILM and the making of the original trilogy. And I’m obviously obsessed with knowing how they did every single shot… All this to say, I would love to see the original trilogy in its original form. I think I understand how this site works, so I am happy to be patient! Really looking forward to being part of the community and getting to share the experience of enjoying the untouched originals. 😃

Long live The Rebellion,
Jacob
