***The "ISOMIX" feedback thread ***
Time
I just got the ISOMIX-edition an hour or so ago, but here are a few first impressions:

*Image-quality was better than the Gonzo-edition. Less 'fuzzy' and more solid blacks. Compared to the TR47-edition, I also prefered the ISOMIX one when I use the 'zoom' on my widescreen-tv on both editions.
*Sound was pretty good, but here I still think TR47 has the edge.
*The isolated score was great!
*Terrific menus. And there are actually 2 easter-eggs on the main menu-screen

All-in-all: Well worth the download.

One thing about the torrent though Rikter: There seems to be an extra folder which really doesn't need to be there. In the "ISOMIX - Star Wars" folder there are the following folders: Dvd-rom, video_ts and another folder named "ISOMIX - Star Wars". This folder has two subfolder named dvd-rom and video_ts. The main vobfile in this video_ts folder is about 800mb and seems to be a failured transfer-attemt.

To comment on the 'commentary-track issue', I have the anarmorphic set which does include this extra. I've only yet had time to check out ANH, but the commentary track on it is very sparse. Loooooong stretches goes by with no comments being made. So all-in-all it's no big sacrifice to drop it to get better sound-quality IMHO

The OT RULES!!!!

I'm guessing Rikter dubbed it that since Farsight is the guy who made it.....
;-)

Here's the info he posted on myspleen:

"Major differences in this version compared to others are Anamorphic video, ac3 sound, improved video bitrate, and an extremely high amount of care taken to ensure that the result is as good as possible given the source (an old film print on analog medium).

specs:

Definitive Original Edition (NOT Special Editions)
Video: ~4500kbps 3-pass CCE encoded
anamorphic 23.97 fps
Audio: 192kbps Dolby Surround ac3

Source is the 9-disc LaserDisc set, the best available source for these versions of the movies. Encoded through S-Video, with great care to get 0 dropped frames, correctly merge the 6 disc-sides per film, properly convert the framerate, deinterlace the video, clean up analog noise w/o blurring the image, normalize the sound, and fix the various field-order errors in the original source. Basically, it's unlikely you'll see a better version of these films any time soon.

My connection isn't that fast, so share as much as you can, and be patient, it'll be up as long as it takes.

Enjoy!"

ROTJ has got 14 seeders at the moment, ESB none........
