I have never printed out disc art in my life, but I just may pick up some sticker sheets for these releases!

I wouldn't recommend it. If you can get your hands on printable discs (and a printer that can accommodate them) then you're dandy, but those stickers will destroy your discs faster than you can do a really fast thing. Almost every burned disc I own with an adhesive label on it is, if not a total coaster, at least partially corrupted.

I always assumed that (a) it was her first scene and she thought she should have a British accent, which they later changed (you'd think they'd fix that in post) or (b) she was in such awe of Peter Cushing that she found herself speaking with his accent.

I took it as something she adopted when speaking in a diplomatic/official capacity, reverting to her normal speech patterns in casual conversation. This seems reinforced by the prequels, where Padme adopts different tones in different scenarios.

Or maybe the director wasn't so good at helping actors with their characterizations. Could go either way.

I updated my DVD covers to reflect the newly revealed bonus features on the DVD-9.

I think they look great! One little suggestion if I may... I think the specs box might look a little more balanced if "DVD-9 Specifications" and "BONUS FEATURES" were the same font size (and both either all caps or not) and then move the bonus features block up so that it's top-justified with the specifications block. Kinda like this:

I did a little rearranging to the logos and URLs as well, to try and balance that out a bit. It's just a suggestion, of course.

I'll add a user setting so that you can choose how you want to be notified.

Oh, that's great Jay. Once I figured out what it was doing I decided it wasn't a big enough deal to bother reporting. (I figure you mods have lives.) But if you're going to add it as a preference, that's perfect. Thank you very much!!!

Is anyone else who's subscribed to this thread receiving only intermittent notifications? I get maybe one email for every five or six posts, at best, in the past few weeks. Anyone else?

I know there's a more appropriate forum for this question, I just wanted to see if it's just me before I go to the mods with it.

Now is this down to my friend, or a limitation of the XVID's resolution?

The second one. An XVID to DVD conversion is not a fair basis for evaluating the video quality. Grab one of the DVDs, they are flawless.

Secondly, could someone here also enlighten me if there so far has been just the XVID release, followed by ONE Pal DVD-5 release and ONE NTSC DVD-5 release, or have there been more?

There have been revisions.

Do these have more resolution than the XVID to give a PERFECT picture on a DVD?

Yes.

Are these the ones with all the extras?

No, that will be the DVD-9, yet to be released.

I believe a dual-layer DVD-9 with even more is coming?

Correct.

Well the "how i did it" side of things would be impossible to explain in a commentary.

Maybe, but you'll have a lot of down time where you don't have a lot of specifics to offer about a particular scene, and that time can be filled with getting into your process, etc. No detail is too boring. :)

While my first reaction to reading Adywan's post was an apathetic "Eh", Ron's opened my eyes to its possibilities.

Glad I could help! :)

This is the chance to make an auditory essay, interacting with the video and audio, and I'm looking forward to it. Fascinating as the subtitle commentary is, the audio commentary has the chance to go beyond the "what" and explore the "why" and "how" questions --- and that's too good to miss.

Plus you'll get to flesh out the details of those shots that simply say "FX" on the subtitle track... which I must say I found a wee bit frustrating, wanting to know so much more.

Only suggestion is to outline your intended talking points beforehand, so that in the moment of recording you don't suddenly wonder what might have come next.

Definitely. Good example of a very well-prepared commentary: Robert Rodriguez, "El Mariachi." The guy barely takes a breath!

I am toying with the idea of a commentary track now though.

Yes, yes, YES! Will it be a pain in the ass? Yeah, probably. Will it delay the release a couple of weeks? More than likely. Will it be worth it? Yeah, I think you'll be glad you did it.

Really, it's the perfect topper to the project. Heck, just talking about the Great Flipper Debate should fill ten minutes! ;)
