Zombie84- I've finished the body of this book, and am just starting the 2nd appendix, and all I can say is WOW.
Like others have stated, there was a lot I knew or suspected about the history, but to see it presented so thoroughly was extremely impressive.
I gotta say, though, that it's disappointing to learn the truth about the "Journal of the Whills". I remember when I first read the Annotated screenplays years ago (I was a very casual fan then), and was heavily intrigued by this journal I had never heard of. Now, years later, I learn that it was really nothing. Damn. Although, it is pretty cool that Lucas managed to find a way to include it in some capacity ("Will of the Force").
Oh, and at the end, when you mentioned the shouting of "Son of the Suns" during the Coruscant celebration scene at the end of ROTJ, well, I immediately popped in my dvd and sure enough, you can hear it! That was pretty cool.

Anyway, thanks for busting your ass to write that awesome book, Zombie84. Absolutely terrific job!

That's actually turned out to be a myth--I guess you downloaded an older version of the book. Starwars.com went back to the master sound tapes from Skywalker Ranch and shows that they are just speaking random huttese type stuff--but it really does sound like "son of suns" when mixed in there.

Heh, heh, really? Damn. Huttese, on Coruscant? Oh well.

The vocalizing in the PT.
Time
I disagree with the overall sentiment here. I absolutley love the music from the PT, especially the emotional tone it was trying to reach. I thought it suceeded with that and didn't overdramatize anything. I also didn't mind the "tracked" music that was used in Sith. I assume by "tracked", you mean previously used themes from the OT? If so, then I thought it was appropiate and I would've been disappointed by not hearing some of the previous themes.
All of that said, though, I do still prefer the OT scores.

Your first reaction to Hayden is ROTJ
Time
This was a change that I support. Even as a kid, I wasn't crazy about how Anankin looked. I mean, here you have the badass of badasses with Darth Vader, then when he is unmasked, you have this pasty broken old man. Then, a serene/conservative/fatherly looking guy in the spirit scene. I just always had trouble buying that that guy was Darth Vader.
That said, I was surprised to hear that GL was making that change for the '04 dvd. While I like the change, I also feel that it wasn't absolutely necessary. I could live with the old man being Vader.
The one thing that sticks out now is that fact that he didn't replace Shaw in the unmasking scene with HC. Now that you see HC in the spirit scene, it makes sense to see him as the unmasked Vader. To me, at least. And until that happens, I'll always consider the change as incomplete.
Now, on the other hand, if Lucas were ever to decide to go back and reinsert Shaw, I'd support that move as well.

Getting too old for this sort of thing?
Time
32

I remember seeing ANH at a drive-in at some point, don't remember seeing ESB in theaters at all, and remember seeing ROTJ opening weekend.
As far as getting too old for this? Well, my wife would certainly say so, but here I am anyway. BTW, I am a newbie here and I really dig it. I'm also a member to another SW board, but there appears to be more of an older, more mature crowd here and that's refreshing at times.

Is there anything you do like about The Prequels...
Time
Oh, yeah as far as specifics go:
-Lightsaber duel at the end of TPM
-Darth Maul
-Pod race
-Jango Fett, even if it did kind of spoil the mystery of Boba Fett. I suppose it was more about seeing a Fett in real action as opposed to very little in the OT.
-Obi-Wan flying around the universe on his detective mission.
-Anakin executing Count Dooku
-Order 66
-Palpatine/Sidious pure giddiness over being able to show his true colors of evil
-Obi-Wan vs. Anakin/Vader
-The twin suns of Tatooine

There's more, but that's all off the top of my head.

Very good point! I seem to recall GL even mentioning something similar to this a couple of years ago in an interview. Nothing with dvds, mind you, but more along the lines of how he has become a large movie studio when he was rebeling against them back in the 70's.
Heh, he's Anakin Skywalker! Remember the line from ROTS from ObiWan? "You have allowed this Dark Lord to twist your mind until now... until now you have become the very thing you swore to destroy."
