Well, i am sorry but because of how he has been treating his films in the last years i have felt my desire to watch them has deminished. Instead of just 'fixing them' he made a whole bunch of new mistakes. Luke screaming as he falls in ESB, Han not shooting first, ect. I don;t care if he adds CGI to improve his movie, heck i even like most of the changes (Death star run in ANH). But when he doesn't fix obvious little things like luke light sabre in ANH, then adding other mistakes like the blocky blue artifacts as the death star blowing up, then there is something wrong with this guy.

I don't wish him dead but we all know were not going get it right OR see the original OT's properly until he passes away and the film is in the hands of someone who knows what they're doing.

Idea & Request: 2001 & 2010 - special features project?
Time
Well, i'll believe it when i see it but to be honest this thread is more about 2010 as this has been poorly treated on DVD.

Alert - It's next on TCM on Wednesday May 24th at 22:35 if you want to save a few pennies! They show it letterboxed.
"Behind the Scenes - The Making of 2010" is after it at 00:50 as well!

Can someone in England please record the making of in digital? It would be a great help!

Don't believe it for a second, they have been saying it for years and look what happened to Bladerunner. Beside the number who has viewed this thread shows me how many people are interested.

Hi Everyone!

It has always pains me to see these two great film neglected by Warner Bros. Like Bladerunner there has been loads of documentaries on TV about the making of and understanding 2001 and the 2010 disc is very poor.

I was wondering if anyone was considering making a SE of these films. What sources are out there? Has 2010 ever been shown in HD in America? I think a 3-disc SE of these films would be great

Disc 1 - The same disc as the latest re mastered 2001 disc - this is fine
Disc 2 - 2010 - see if it is possible to find a better transfer then the current dvd’s
Disc 3 - Special features including the 'making of 2010 from the R1 disc and any other documentaries out there

what do you guy’s think?

Playing the trivia takes you to the scene selction menu. While I was uploading the files, my hard drive crashed on me. I am posting thios with my sister's computer. Now the HDs (actually both of them from my computer) are detected as being there, but are not properly formatted, and don't show up in "My Computer". Is there any way to get my data back? I have so much information on there that would be almost impossible to get again!

I use EasyRecover professional 6. I had something silimer happen to me quite recently and this worked a charm. You won't get everything back but i got 150GB out of 250GB back after i reformatted the disk!!

Your being completely rediculous marioxb, by your own hands you have ruined what would otherwise have been an excellent disc. You have produced this to share to others but have ignored what others wanted becuase you think your right, your no better then the big studios!! The only issue i have is having to go through ten bloody questions everytime i want to show the alt ending. It's like being forced to go through serveral film trailers that you can't skip before getting to a DVD menu, surely you have experinace how bad that is!?

My best bet will be to grab marioxb disc, Mr bridgers disc and see if i can make a definative disc

Yes, i think it's an awful idea, sorry but that's my opinon. Why do i have to sit through 10 questions just to see this, or everytime i want to show it to family and friends? Beside, what will this have over the one i'm after?

digitalfreaknyc please don't take my comparisons as offence i really didn't mean to cause any. i think you've done a great job and I’m sure this looks way better then the official NTSC disc, i was only doing this as a bit of fun and thought that because we are all AV freaks then this would be an interesting comparison.

To settle this once and for all can you post the screenshot HD version of the eye picture that i posted i will then resize it to 720x576 and show everyone the HD version is truly the best one.

Although it seems the PAL has more detail i believe this is only due to the fact that it's PAL (which has 100 more lines of detail over NTSC) The NTSC from the HD seems to be less defined but I’m putting this down to the fact that it's NTSC, on the plus side the images is smoother and doesn't suffer from the grain that the PAL disc has.

On the subject of colour i would have to say I’m a bit confused. In some scenes I would say NTSC is more vibrant and natural but in others it seems to have a distracting green tint. I have no idea if this is the colour balance that the director originally intended. We could argue that until the cows come home.

CONCULSION

The HD is an excellent transfer, if only he did it as an PAL then it would kick the offical PAL discs ass

There is no way IN HELL that the PAL version is better than the HD version. I think you're mistaken, R....about a great many things.
OK guys, here it is! But before I post the images just like to say one thing...

Please note that i have not enhanced the images in anyway

I think a lot of people have got the wrong end of the stick, of course PAL can't have more detail then HD, BUT can have more detail then NTSC, no matter what the source is. But also I think I jumped the gun a little, knee jerk reaction so to speak, this is the comparison that sparked it off.

digitalfreaknyc's NTSC sourced from HD-Master
http://i36.photobucket.com/albums/e15/rmuneton/newblade1.jpg
As you can see the PAL version has more detail and more natural colours where as the NTSC version loses definition and has a strange green tint, but here are the rest of the comparasons. PAL always at the top.

i will finish downloading in about 3-4hours, that makes a projected time of 1d 18hours, i was avaraging about 70kb/s topping at 150 at one point. OK got screenshots off my uk dvd.unsure how to resize them to make a fair comparson

EDIT - OK Guys i just finshed downloading and the early indications are not great. at least compared to the UK PAL. The UK PAL DVD seems to have more detail and better colour. Will put up screenshots later when i come back but i'm greatful for the extras

Mentor

When i finish downloading i'm going to do comparison screenshot to prove to you the difference.

This is actualy going to be very intresting, i live in London and the UK R2 DC version of Bladerunner i has been OOP for a few years. I got as soon it was released in 1999. so..

UK R2 DC in PAL = 575 Line of resolution from a laserdisc master Vs digitalfreaknyc's NTSC = 480 Line of resolution from a HD master

Lets get ready to rumble, ding ding!!

PS By the way digitalfreaknyc's thank you for answering the doco question but is there any chance of redoing the first disc as a PAL?

PSS What happened to citizen's version? Is he not bothering now?

Hello all! I've just joined the forums!

First of all i would like to thank digitalfreaknyc for his amazing effort on these discs. You really have put Waner Brothers to shame. Thanks to you i'm curtently downloading using bit torrent. Just a couple of points.

1) Is there any chance at all that you can redo the first disc in PAL for us guys over in the UK? It's just that because you have a HD print i would love to take advantage of every line of resolution possible.

2) Could i ask why you decided to put a documentry on the first disc instead of the second? It's just that if you put the doc on the 2nd disc then you would have space on the first disc for the movie at a higher bit rate, making it look even better.

Please please don't take my comments the wrong way, i truly think you've done an amazing job

Thanks
