According to Twitter there is a trailer dropping tonight (10/28/19).
JJA mirrors Ep VI and they go back to Endor and there’s Ewoks.
Hey, if 7 was 4 then 9 is 6.
Digitally replace the hand with Luke’s dismembered hand from TESB.
I love Ady’s edits but the whine-athon of ‘‘ideas’’ while it’s being made…
Phasma was a half-hearted attempt to make a new Boba Fett that failed. She-Kenny of the First Order could be cut entirely from both movies and nothing would be missing.
Can you have Jar Jar Binks be the one to throw the Emperor down the shaft? It would help with the <Episode IX spoiler redacted>.
Amy Adams as a Jedi Master. I think she is certainly able to handle the deliberate & poised part of it and I think the franchise would be a great place to see her kick some ass for once.
Force Ghost Anakin talking to his grandson, saying “Not in my name MF.”
Yeah, some of the early seasons the cut seasons are rather rough, the quality improves a lot as you go ahead each season.
What are you doing concerning burnt in titles, credits, etc.? I left them in as the edit was primarily for my entertainment and I just ''watch around them" as I like to phrase it. The crash and post crash stuff is so much better when the storylines of the losties, talies and others are all integrated and playing out at the same time. It just seems cheap, oh, yeah, you’ve been watching this show about these people for a while now but HEY! there’s a bunch of people from the tail that survived. Let’s spend an hour talking about them and catch you up to speed, m’kay?
I think for me it’s episodes 10 & 11 that we get the crash, each one of mine ran about 2 hours and there’s 50 of them.
Are you integrating webisodes and deleted scenes? There’s a wiki with a timeline that is generally helpful for a project like this, my stumbling block on pass two was there is a scene in a later episode where Widmore is evicted from the island by Ben and I didn’t catch that, it’s just a quick little thing that I missed and…yeah, after months of work I’m done with this one as it is.
If you should ever reconsider putting the beginning with the engineers back in I’d just suggest from experience that the scene may be nicely expanded with some lifted material from Terrance Malnick’s ‘‘Tree of Life.’’
How are you handling the time lines in your chronological edit? I did a sd edit of this myself years ago, took two tries (pc died 4 seasons in on one try and no back up) and I cut it so Jack dies on the island, watches the plane fly overhead and then the entire alternate time line plays out as his near-death experience with the end being the group reunited (with all the scenes of him dying on the island excised as they were used for his island death scene).
Is there any concrete statement from someone that would know that there is a re-re-re-re-re-re-re-re-release slated for next year?
He’s just putting all the pieces together in his head and grasping the scale of what’s going on.
Hmmm, the kid’s here AND his mom’s droids. Something’s going DOWN.
I like it - I like it a lot.
Obi Wan moves pretty fast when he cuts down the cantina guys, this almost all works for me. I think it was really creative and just a lot of fun. The only part that really didn’t work for me was some of the dubbing of lines, sometimes less is more.
“Victim? Oh no that guy didn’t act like a victim…Douglas Jones moved like a cobra”
I always regarding the Obi Wan GG duel as being a cinematic refuge from a bad Steven Speilberg movie that was somehow spliced into Star Wars. I did a fanedit of RotS that totally eliminates every onscreen appearance of GG, he’s now an off screen McGuffin whose only purpose is to isolate Anakin so that Palpatine may have his evil ways with him. The much better birth of the rebellion scenes were added back in and the movie is in my opinion a vastly improved watch for the two changes.
3 way tie
“who talks first me you who” line stolen from Lost
yo mama joke
any scene with General Grevious
Love the Jabba’s palace at sunset shot.
The new one posted immediately above, I can take it or leave it however something that really doesn’t help it is that the artist made Jyn look like a man.
It totally subverts your expectations, it would have been flipping brilliant.
IF Luke has to live, and he did for 7 and most of 8, having him die offscreen inbetween 8 and 9 reduces him to an old codger who got his way, he ran away and died alone on Achoo.
I am in a very small camp of less is more of the OT heros in the new movie. Now if they’d have only done something about a more compelling collection of enemies instead of Kylo Stimpy, Emperor Redshirt and Captain Kenny Phasma. The weakest part of the new movies isn’t SJW’s, it isn’t not using OT characters enough, it’s laughably bad enemies.
What is the point exactly of an edit where Luke doesn’t die at the end?
The character is dead.
If I had my way The Force Awakens would have ended with Rey landing on Achoo and calling out for him, saying that she needs his help and then, the blue shimmer, left side of the screen, and Luke says, “you may need to learn to help yourself” wipe to credits.
I don’t think that the Imperial March needs to be added to that scene.
Part of what I like about the OT is that not every second of screen time has to have music or something zipping around.
It’s nice to allow things to be quiet every now and then and let the movie breathe and develop.
In my opinion a lot of what drives (the non-bot/Ruski type stuff) this is just your basic incel toxic internet stuff.
How do I deal with it?
I don’t give it the time of day.
I don’t go to any of these sites or watch the YouTube videos because a lot of this is driven by people with an agenda and they latch onto anything and the videos are more about them then the content of the media that they are on a rant about.
I’m a geezer, was 11 when I saw the first one in '77.
I have an eight year old gamer kid and my wife and I have to police his YT activity for the same reason. He goes out looking for a solution on something that he’s stuck on and winds up with a twenty five minute long video that is essentially some basement dweller playing a game talking nonstop about how awesome he is.
An unexpected consequence of the internet is the ability to observe free range toxic people in their natural habitat.
They want validation via likes, clicks, watchings, comments.
Don’t give it to them.
You like a movie, you like it. Don’t go around justifying and making excuses for the things that you like, love and are inspired by.
The old Decipher CCG was a sanctioned and vetted Lucasfilm product and in that they made Han ''force sensitive" and the game had a structure for Jedi training, you could turn Chewbacca into a Jedi Knight if you wanted to.
Re the Empire building multiple Death Stars.
I read a ton of Cold War history and basically it’s the learning curve that is the bear.
Basically the US and the USSR poured tons of money into programs just to get a rocket to go up, off of the launchpad, without it exploding. Post World War 2 to Sputnik going up is 12 years of R&D on both sides of the globe. That’s to get one satellite up in orbit. From 1957 - 1969 we put people up there, did space walks, circumnavigated the moon and landed on the moon & came back.
There’s time and expense after the learning curve was solved but the real bear for both countries was the foundations of rocketry.
At the end of Revenge of the Sith you have a proto-Death Star being built. We have no definition that this is the one that we see 20 years later in A New Hope. We just see one being built. If you adhere to the learning curve thing this one could have easily blown up at some point while being tested or even sabotaged (I always like the line in A New Hope, “there’ll be no one to stop us this time” could refer to sabotage and doesn’t have to be rebels doing the sabotage, there were real division and competitions in the US between the Army and the Air Force over who gets what missile, we see that kind of thinking in Krennic v Tarkin in Rogue 1).
On to DSI, DSII and starkiller.
Since we made nuclear weapons all we have done is made bigger, badder, stronger iterations of the same.
There’s no reason that the Empire would not do the same thing. A ton of R&D dollars went into the first one and it basically did what it’s designed to do (zap a planet into oblivion) so there’s no reason to think that they wouldn’t try to refine it.
Just read “Red Moon Rising” a quick read on what was going on with rocket programs in the states and USSR when Sputnik went up, it’s a good place to start for anyone interested in this sort of thing.
I would be delighted to get a Rogue 1 prequel trilogy that goes before what we saw in R1, more Baz & Churrat, more Death Star construction, more Bodhi Rook working for the Empire and defecting, more Tarkin and Imperial stooges and flunkies.
I’d be happy with more Jyn Erso but i don’t know how you’d do that. I may not get all that but I will very, very happily take this.
