If you could change one thing about every movie, what would it be?
Time

Star Wars: Tarkin escapes and plays part in the following 2 films. Only because I love Peter Cushing and would love to see more of Tarkin. I actually love his smug demise in the film as it is.

Empire: At the end, Leia & Co. recognize Lando’s heroic intentions and actions, apologize for their misplaced distrust and thank him for saving everyone’s asses. The Rebellion then awards him military rank and a medal before he takes off to do what Leia and Chewie stopped him from before…

Jedi: Ewoks are shown to be smart, resourceful and when they need to be, absolutely vicious. And not in a cartoony/silly way. They play a much smaller role in the ground battle and are used mostly as distraction while the Rebel soldiers take out the Empire’s troops.

STAR WARS: EP IV 2004 REVISITED ADYWAN *1080p HD VERSION NOW IN PRODUCTION

Is it possible to shorten or remove the antennae from the shot? I realize I’m probably the only one this bothers, but I thought it couldn’t hurt to ask.

That would create a continuity error with the other troops. The same kind of small errors that these edits are great at fixing, not creating.
Anyway, it’s not actually a mistake in the film, so I don’t think anything needs to change here.
And now that you know what you’re actually seeing, it shouldn’t be an issue anymore, right?

STAR WARS: EP VI -RETURN OF THE JEDI "REVISITED EDITION"ADYWAN - ** PRODUCTION HAS NOW RESTARTED **
Time

The TIEs are short range fighters. Small craft, tiny cockpit, ect.
The X-wing’s and other Rebel ships are larger, have a robot co-pilot/mechanic on board and we even see that Luke loads luggage into his X-Wing when leaving Dagobah. So, it make sense to me that they would have a hyperdrive and be able to handle long trips.

In the stuff you could never make up dept. Stephen King had a Greedo action figure on the set of Creepshow for good luck.

I LOVE that movie and think about this bit o’ trivia every time I watch it!
Well, every time since the bluray documentary told me about it 😉

Jabba’s palace blew my mind when I saw it in widescreen on the sci-fi channel around the buildup to the special editions. They also showed the extended Abyss which is where I saw it first. I was in high school.

Same here! I’d only seen the films pan-n-scan before that.
In fact, this was also when I realized what the difference between PnS & widescreen was! So my mind was doubly blown!

Han - Solo Movie ** Spoilers **
Time

I haven’t seen Solo, but was just reminded in something I was reading that this film makes “Solo” a nickname of sorts and not his real last name.
I dunno how well or poorly it’s executed in the movie, but I love this!
It’s long been my personal canon that someone called him that sarcastically, and that Han kept it as his moniker. I hate the idea that it would really be his last name. The guy who’s a lone-wolf/loner type just happens to have the last name Solo? It’s like if Obi-Wan was Ben Ninja-Wizard and it’s just a coincidence that he is also actually a ninja-wizard.
So, to all here and abroad who’ve dissed my idea for 30some years… HA! IT’S CANON NOW!

King Kong vs. Godzilla - 4K Japanese Cut Restoration (Released)
Time

That’s too bad. Oh well. I’ve got this now.
Really, I’m just happy the Japanese version is finally officially available in the States. I’ve got the Toho BD and, yeah it’s not tops, but I was happy enough with it until a better option arrived.
I wonder why the 4k scan wasn’t provided, though.
Still looks to be a rad set and I can’t wait to have it.

King Kong vs. Godzilla - 4K Japanese Cut Restoration (Released)
Time

So, despite early info claiming otherwise, it looks like the Criterion Showa Era set will include the Japanese cut of KKvG!
Copy and pasted from the official site:

 • High-definition digital transfers of Godzilla, King of the Monsters, the 1956 U.S.-release version of Godzilla; and the 1962 Japanese-release version of King Kong vs. Godzilla

Will this be from the same source as this broadcast? Better? Worse?
Really excited for this set.

if Leia’s planet blew up, I’d expect more than “we have no time for sorrows commander”.

I take it your aren’t in the military nor do you know many who are.
That’s just how things are. She’s got bigger fish to fry at the moment. No time to cry about your home when you’re trying to literally save the rest of the galaxy.

But even her tone is too unnaffected.

Meh.

Lucas was criticized for his direction at the time, remember.

Everybody got an opinion, but the only one I care about is my own. 😛 😉

TPM has that look, but the other two look so cheap.

That’s probably because TPM was filmed on 35mm and the other two prequels were filmed digitally.

It’s much more the dull composition of the shots and boring editing.
Mix that with flat characters, a non-story and terrible digital environments? PRESTO! Instant bleh.

Most sets had mostly practical elements? Compositing was mostly done to extend sets rather than as a substitute for them entirely?

I remember a scene by a lake where Obi-Wan & Gin are talking. Ewans hair changes several times between cuts. I dunno if it’s a wig or if his hair had started to grow out by time of re-shoots and they thought nobody would notice.

+1 for ROTS as best and TPM as worst prequels.

Oh, wait… hahaha, it’s funny how most people not from this forum that I’ve talked to about this seem to agree that ROTS is the best of the bunch and TPM the worst.

I think that’s because ROTS has all the stuff that should have been spread out across all three films.
It’s the stuff we were all excited to see in this trilogy. So, even though it’s all silly, corny, contrived and shoe-horned in, it’s what we originally showed up to see in 1999. It’s all just done quick, dirty, very poorly and crammed into one film. And this makes it the worst for me.
TPM at least looks like a movie and has some spirit to it. It’s also terrible though.

I never noticed Fake Mace in Episode One until someone pointed it out. It was a while before I noticed Yoda walking down the ramp in that scene as well, and it looks exactly like a little person in a suit. It may or may not be in the current version of the film though.

Nobody’s feet seem to be touching the ground in that picture. They’re all floating.
Is Yoda in that pic? I don’t see him.
